I love the sock monkey too cute, and the owls, and the flower set seen from the cruise. I also love the in colors this year. I can't wait to see the rest of the catalog. Scallop punch don't need. I have a Cricut.
Hee, Hee......after reading this, I had to go peek at the sock monkey- EEK, he sort of scares me! It's totally a personal thing, but.........um, nope- not going to buy him!

I went, I looked, I wasn't tempted. *sigh* Not into that monkey at all, the rest looks pretty re-hashed to me. Nothing jumped out and said 'Buy Me!' at all. I'm hoping the full catalog will spark my interest! Seems I've never been too excited by sneak peeks in the past.

A few of the sets really have me excited for the new catalog...namely, Serene Spring, Window Dressing, and Dreams du Jour. I think this style of real line art ( and not referring to sock monkey line art) is due for a comeback! All of the folks like me who invested in Prismas or COPIC markers now want to color something! Can't wait to see what the new catty holds!
I think sock monkeys are something that you either love them or hate them. For people who love them and have fond childhood memories of them...they'll love this stamp set. When I first saw the set I thought "What a great idea to make a stamp set with a sock monkey image". I however, don't like sock monkeys, so I won't buy the set, plus I already have enough monkey images from Stampendous. I thought StampingPaige's comment was hysterical..."Eek! He sorta scares me!" What scared me was the last mini catalog with the anorexic, freaking looking female silouhettes--especially the pregnant one! Geez! No wonder we have a problem with eating disorders if we expect to look that thin---even when pregnant. I was glad not too many people bought that stamp set (judging by the lack of images in the su galleries). I would hate to have the great women of Splitcoast encourage female images like that.
I love the Serene Spring hostess set. There are only 2 images shown but I wonder if there are more in the set! Wish it was for sale instead of a hostess cause I'd be buying it for sure!!

Same here. While the stampers did a great job with their samples, the stamps just screamed "old" to me - not at all in line with the past few catalogs.
I'm still excited to see the new catalog, though. :-)
I had to have window dressing and sock monkey. To be honest, Sock Monkey wasn't on my original order. I sat there and thought about it and you know what? Though he's not what I usually go for, I can see a lot of fun cards coming from this set and not just from the *twisted* gallery. LOL

Those are the only two images; there are two word stamps, too.

For those of you who have gotten the new in-colors:
Do Kiwi Kiss, Pink Pirouette and Baja Breeze look as similar to Old Olive, Pretty in Pink and Sage Shadow as they do in the SS magazine?
Maybe it is just my eyes!
I like the serene spring and window dressing sets. The Dreams one was pretty and i am definitely interested in the scallop border...The sock monkey-I was not a fan of...
I think i would have liked it better if it was a regular monkey...I have monkey business and really LIKE that set!
but anyway- overall- i like pretty much everything i have seen..I will definitely miss the in colors!! This year's and last year's were SO GREAT!

Here's a link to Dawn's blog where she shows the new colors with some of the current colors:
Okay, this made me laugh! Do you remember when Mike Meyers played Deiter on Saturday Night Live? He used to say "Touch my monkey!" bwa ha ha! No offense to YOUR monkey, just not thrilled with the simple drawing style of this monkey, per se.
A previous post mentioned that the stamps screamed "Old" to them. I have to confess, I pulled out my old 98-99 SU catty a while back and fell in love with those oldies. There was real art there, and the catty samples were fabulous! Crossing fingers for more oldies to come!
The preview was really weird this time and there was NOTHING that I couldn't live without. Which is sad because I was looking forward to it a lot. The previous 2 previews I had bought almost everything in them
I feel the same way -- nothing really popped out at me and the only new in-color is the kiwi and will have to see it used first to place an order. JMHO.
Very disappointed that most of the peeks were hostess sets, which are too hard for me to earn. The only set that did anything for me was the Serene Scene, a hostess set. I hope the catalog will have better choices. I never did like the sock moneys when my kids were growing up and I don't like them any better now.
I was really disappointed too! I hope the other stamps in the catalog are better!:-|
My order gets here Monday--can't wait. Sock monkey was NOT in it LOL. I agree with previous posters; either you luv 'em, or you hate 'em. I am hoping SU continues getting some more of the more real looking images--enough with all this doodling already. I just don't want to buy stamps that I can draw (Zoofari--sorry to those of you that love it). All in all, I am looking forward to the new catty and so are my regulars!
Well, nothing excites me at all. I can see lots of suspension cards made with Deer Friends - cute images on that one. Wow Flowers didn't interest me, neither did Heard from the Heart - is it just words? Too bad the index cards aren't posted yet so we can see exactly what comes with each set. Well, guess I will find something I like by OCt. when I am stamp club hostess...
I didn't think much of any of them...the scallop border punch is cool, but if you have the slit or corner rounder you can do the same w/out spending more money.
Thanks for the link. I can see the differences in color now but I'm still not sure there is enough difference to be worth the purchase for only 1 year.
I'm sure that SU will introduce a lot of "gotta have" Designer Series Papers with the new In-Colors. As with the past In-Colors, I always seemed to end up with all of them in the end.

OM, no! Pink Pirouette is nowhere near Pretty in Pink. It's so soft. I'd describe it as pink-colored cotton, it's so soft looking. I didn't think I'd like it, but I do! Some think it's similar to Blush blossom, but I disagree. I've been a demo for 5 years and I still don't own the blush blossom inkpad or paper. I just don't like it, but this Pink Pirouette is beautiful!
Baja Breeze is absolutely nowhere near to Sage Shadow! If you saw a picture that made you think that, the person that took it needs a new camera or something! Sage Shadow is greenish. I do have to say that Baja Breeze is probably the color I like the least of all the new In Colors. However, I'm sure I'll see some gorgeous samples with it.
Of all of those you mentioned, the Kiwi and Olive are the closest, but even then, there's a noticeable difference. The Kiwi (IMO) is softer than Olive. It's a very "in" color this year in clothing, home decorating accessories, etc.
As for the rest of the preview, I only bought Sock Monkey (I don't really care for sock monkeys, but I saw huge potential in that stamp set when I saw it); Heard from the Heart (just my style!) and Serene Spring (who can resist that bunny in the basket?)

My favorites are... the Level 2 Hostess set, Serene Spring, and I think Sock Monkey is cute too. I have a 14-year old daughter who thinks he's just adorable. Did anyone see this card yet on SCS? It's hilaaaarious!
I still haven't finalized my preorder yet because I'm struggling to decide whether or not I should get any of the new in-colors. It can get pricey keeping up with all the new inks, cardstock, ds paper and accessories.

Ok after seeing your card I just might want to get the sock monkey set, there are some people that I know that have a warped sence of humor that would love to get a card like this. Thank you for giving me ideas.
By the way your card is really great, I love the stuffing that you have on the card to make it look more realistic.
Besides the new preorder items, I see samples from Owl Together and Party Hearty. Does anyone know of any other sets that people received on the cruise that we can look up in the gallery? Thanks!
P.S. I am not a sock monkey fan, but you all just have to see this one:
I just got my order last night and hardly any time to play (and no time tonight either), but I did try the scallop punch and it works great. Easy to use and line up, it's fast too! I had to see the in colors in person before I made up my mind and I do like the two blues, and really, really like Kiwi Kiss. What can I say? I am a green nut and really like the yellowy/greens for some reason. I can't wait until sunday when I can really get in there and goof around!
only sneek peek grabbing my attention is the scallop edge punch of course and serene spring. also, my demo sent a newsletter stating that all new stamp sets, not just the hostess sets, will be diecut. no more trimming. i absolutely love that.
I do not like the sock monkey but I do like most of the other stamp sets that I have seen.
So funny, but this seems to be the trend. If you like the sock monkey, the rest you are not fond of. If you are not a fan of the sock monkey, you like the others. The in colors are nice, I saw a comarison of them to other SU colors, until then I was not sure. Wish I could remember where I saw it or I would post it for you.

I couldn't stand the Sock Monkey (still can't stand the cutesy cards of him) but I love Tracy Altemose's Revenge of the Stamp Sets. I got mostly paper sets and the DSP. I did get the Du Jour one and of course, the scallop punch. I am too impatient to do it with my slit punch or corner rounder.

I don't love any of the preview or hostess stamp sets, but I can't wait to get the Bella Rose DSP, the scallop punch and the In Colors. I ordered all of them, because I knew I would end up with them all eventually anyway. Can't wait to see the rest of the new DSP.
