I'd never heard of this thing before reading about it here!! So I went out and bought some and now I need to know how you use this wonderful thing! I tried to take some black ink off my 'In Full Bloom" flower and it didn't really work. I just wet it with water and scrubbed very gently. I don't want to harm my stamp. But I'm wondering if I didn't scrub long enough or hard enough. Some of the black ink did come off it because it went onto the sponge, but the stamp still looks the same.
And what else do you use this for, around the house?? One of my daughters, who is a music teacher and lives at home, said all the teachers in the teachers lounge were talking about these!!
I love these erasers but I never thought to use them on my stamps. I missed the earlier thread. How are people using them on stamps?
Anyway, these are great to getting hard to clean surfaces like my refridgerator doors and handles. Also, when I first moved into my house the kitchen floor needed wax. The dirt tracked in from the move would not come up and I couldn't afford to replace the flooring. I scrubbed the whole floor with the magic erasers, rinsed it, and then applied 4 coats of wax. The floor looks almost as good as new. It still has some cuts and dings but it cleans much easier.
CRAYON off floors, wall, door, cups, tables. He is two and very "artistic". Need I say more. I also have scrubbed the floor with it. Took four of them, but it looks great. Our floor has a texture and nothing was getting out the ground in stuff. I also use them on light switch plates, diswasher handles, anything grimey.
i use them on the walls and floors to clean scuff marks and fingerprints, etc. They take off what a regular sponge won't and don't seem to scratch the finish/paint. They have taken off marks that I gave up on! Strange little things, they just start to disintegrate after you use them a few times in one spot. Somewhere I read they don't have any cleanser in them, just the way the stuff is made - kind of like velcro loops - and they grab the dirt etc and pull it off surfaces.
I must try them on my stamps?! Sounds interesting.

You need to use some elbow grease to get the black off. And yes, you'll need to wet & wring out the eraser well.
I had just used one yesterday to remove pencil from a wall (courtesy of my 2yr old DD) and decided to try removing mono and generally clean up my desk top surface (it's melamine, a form of plastic - why not?). It works not only on mono, but on the droplets of crystal effects too if you apply enough pressure.
As with anything, test a remote area first as in the previous thread it is not recommended to use on wood/stained furniture.
I tried the eraser on a blackened, grubby set that I could live without prior to taking it to my favorite stamps. It will eat the magic eraser to shreds, which is why I think kymbers_stampin method of designating a yoyo yellow classic pad will be more cost effective for removing the black stain from stamps.
I use them to clean the soap scum off of the bath tub and shower doors as well as crayon or pencil on the walls. These little magic erasers are wonderful.
I haven't tried them on my stamps yet.

Love these things - they make easy work of dirt and grime, but you have to be careful as they can dull a shiny surface... formica, glossy paint, etc.
They will also remove the 'extra' Pearl-Ex from your cardstock. I have not used the Pledge dusting cloths, so I can't compare, but the sponges work pretty good!
I tried them on a stamp set that I bought from someone else that was really stained. It didnt take off all of the ink but the ink was probably on these stamps for months or years. The erasers work great but use with caution on painted surfaces, it will change the finish which can be noticeable but still looks better than scuff marks. I use them to clean my shower-they work better than any other cleaning product for that purpose.
The are wonderful!! I use them on painted walls and doors, and they don't take the paint off, but they sure do take off scuff marks and finger prints!! My DH changed ink in the printer and got ink on his hands. Touched the white door in the computer room, and promptly left a nice fingerprint in the middle panel. He tried to smudge it away, which basically ground it in. He also never told me about it, so it dried. When I came home, a couple of hours later, there it was. I used the eraser, and it took it right off. Gotta love Mr. Clean - he's the best!! ~Pam
The stamp I tried them on got about half the ink off, not all of it. It did take the ink off my rubber brayer (but that ink hadn't been on there long, just to the end of a stamp camp). It works wonders on taking the black marks on floors left behind by shoes and mini-cars (I have a 3yr old who LOVES racing her cars on my floors).
thank you for all the tips, I bought a pack of these and have designated today(my day off) as a stay-home-and-clean-day, now I must get to work!!!! ((((nancyruth)))))
Im sorry to say SU dont put out the good stuff for cleaning those harsh color inks off the rubber. If it dont come off with water, I use JudyKins.....I swear by the stuff......only problem is it kind of stinks up the room when you use it.
Oh, I just love my magic eraser. It just cleans everything. I always struggle with getting soap scum off, nothing seems to work like it says it does. Guess what! The magic eraser does!
I found a new use for it last week too. Ya know how your SU stamp pads get black marks on the outside? Almost like scuff marks? Magic eraser took those right off. They look like they're brand new!

I love the Magic Erasers, too -- use them all over the house! It never occurred to me to use them on stamps, though. They are made of a very fine abrasive, which is why they 'wear away' and disappear eventually. I'd think they would work well on big solid stamps that don't hold the ink well -- same principle as using an eraser or fine emery-board on them, only quicker. I'll have to give it a try the next time I have that problem.
The trick to keeping the finish on painted or other shiny areas is to *not* scrub with them -- go over the area gently, using a circular motion. I ignored the instructions on the box and took the finish off my kitchen floor in spots when I first started using them, so I learned that the hard way! =8-o They are the best for getting watermarks off glass shower doors, though -- and bug remains off the winshield of the car. Good for cleaning the brake-dust off the wheels, too -- but I would NOT use it anywhere else on the car. Slicker than snake-snot, as my sis-in-law likes to say! ;)
As far as stamping uses, I hear that they take the writing off paint samples if you want to stamp with out the color written on the strip. Gotta try it!

Yes, this works great, but like others have said, be gentle! Otherwise it'll damage the shiny finish on them. I also use them at work--I'm a librarian--slightly dampened to take marks and grime off book covers!
I love them, too! Nothing cleans up the refrigerator better and they take stubborn spots off my (old) white formica counters and don't seem to scratch. The best tip I've heard was from a thread several months ago--when you get them, cut them in half or even in quarters for smaller jobs. They really last that way.
My bathtub has a textured bottom to make it slip-resistant, and I could never clean it properly. The Magic Eraser works wonderfully for getting into all those little crevices that a sponge can't quite reach.

One morning our when our oldest was 2 he decided to draw a pretty moon and cow on the wall with his daddy's pen, the eraser took it right off, thankfully since the person we sold our house to was coming for the final inspection that morning !!
I love it, I love it! I am scrubbing the hose as we are packing up and so far there hasn't been a job that thing can't handle. Can they make one for carpet spots though, that would help!

OOOh, let me go try my shower, as much as I clean it, it never looks spectacular . . . I just laugh that something makes me this excited to clean!

Happy trails....

I follow that method (tho I usually end up scrubbing ;) ) to remove the writing off of paint chips to use for layering (or matting) my stamped image!
