When mounting my stamps, I've been noticing lately that the rubber image is not the same size as the sticker image. Has anyone noticed this? I'm wondering if maybe we could get posts from different climates, cold, hot, humid, dry, etc. I'm thinking maybe this has to do with weather, not sure. I'm in CO which is pretty much the same as UT but who knows what is happening.
If you have noticed this, what do you do? Do you mount it as it is, or do you stretch it to the size of the sticker image? Am I insane? I've been stretching them. Last night, after the 8th set, I started questioning whether I should have done that. (Um, that would be because I tore off part of the foam on my WGII set, argh!)
Anyway, your suggestions are most welcome. I feel so stupid. So far Crystal Effects is holding it down but we shall see if it stands up to the test of time.
I have noticed this on a couple stamps, but the varience has been so slight I haven't worried about it. The rubber has only been maybe 1/16 to 1/8 inch smaller than the sticker. I think it's just part of the process- the stickers aren't stamped, they're printed, and the rubber goes into molds, and then whatever else goes into the stamp-making process.
I'm in SC, by the way, where the humidity is waaaay more than in CO or UT. ;)
Completely weird! I haven't noticed the problem - and when I mount my stamps I mount the rubber first, then use that to position the sticker and I haven't seen anything. I'm in Colorado too....sorry I am not helpful!!!

I've only noticed this on one set of my SU stamps - but I HAVE noticed it. To me, it wasn't a big enough difference to be too worried about. I thought it was kind of odd, but I just figured it might have something to do with the molding process.
I hope someone here has an answer for you. Maybe if you posted the sets you're having an issue with, some others could double check their sets and see if they have the same problem.

I noticed this on the Geometric background - the sticker was considerably different to the stamp. I just went ahead anyway - as it is just a background stamp I didn't think it mattered that much... especially as I am totally incompetent at using such a big stamp.
Very Odd. I just mounted a new set, Pink flamingos, and noticed that the stamp was smaller. I thought it was because of the long legs, and that I just hadn't placed the rubber correctly, so I did remove it and stretch it a little. Seemed okay. My paisley BG (just HAD to have it) was smaller than the sticker, but I figured it was because it was a BG stamp.
Thank you!! I really appreciate all of your replies. I felt kind of stupid for stretching them but I'm so anal, it just HAS to match, LOL.

BTW - I got my Canvas stamp the other day and the darn thing almost didn't fit on the wood!!! I was way stoked. I hope they continue to make the BG stamps bigger.

Wow my canvas stamp is to small, that is the only stamp I have noticed anything with but it will not cover the front of a standard card, I am not trying to be a pain but I have really thought about having my demo send it back b/c it just doesn't serve the purpose it is suppose to. I would love for all the background stamps to be just a little bigger so that you were sure to get a solid background image

And I hate to say it, but I bet all your stretching was for nothing. The rubber will try and go back to it's normal size and the adhesive will give. So maybe not right now, but in the near future, you stamps will be back to a smaller size.

Wisconsin here.... And I've never noticed it. They always seem identicle to me, and I am pretty picky about stuff like that so I think I would have picked up on it.

I recommend you cease stretching your images. It will distort the image, and possibly damage the image by tearing or weakening delicate areas of an image, which could then lead to cracking. And, as someone already mentioned, the natural property of rubber is to resume it's original shape . . .
