Does anyone have the rectangle punch that is in the catty? Is says it is a hand held punch. I have a few questions...
One - Is it like a regular hole punch or does it have a protective coating on the handles.
Two - Have you used it multiple times in a row and not wanted to die?
Three - Can it punch through two layers at one time?
Here is why I ask. I am going to make 150 Wedding Invitations and I am going to be doing the ribbon at the top, Wide Organdy and so I was thinking of getting the rectangle punch...but thought I would ask first to see what all you seasoned stampers would suggest!
Thanks for any and all info!
Keri,
A friend and I made 165 of these in October.
The rectangle punch handle is the coated handle, easier to hold than our past punch. I used the retired love set because the bride's maiden name is Love. We embossed the heart on Vellum using B Burgandy Caft Ink, stamped the 4 corners of US Vanilla.
I have punched many 2 layer CS cards with the punch.
I have the single rectangle punch and had to do 200 invitations last Fall and it was a nightmare (to me) to line up the wholes. I suppose I could have measured on each one but that seemed to crazy to do. I only had 4 days to do the invites.
Anyway, I've seen various places that have a "ribbon punch" by Mcgill. I don't have one so I don't know if it's any good. Atleast someone out there is thinking.
I've seen it on save-on-crafts.com, paperwishes.com, and Joann's website. My Joann's store didn't have one, only on the web.

HTH.
When I am doing a lot of cards I make a template with a scrap, punch where I want the holes, mark with pencil, the punch.
Ok now I have to say... you all are the best! I loved the idea of the two punches at once but thought what if I wanted to do just the one sometime...or if I wanted the holes farter apart...then the idea of the template...you all are the best! Thanks so much I knew you all would know what I needed.... I will post the finished product to this thread if you would like to see what I did once I am done!

I have this punch and it's wonderful for getting the punches in the right spot for ribbon. Only downside is that since it's not long reach you may be limited on where you could put your ribbon. It will punch through 2 pieces of cardstock but isn't quite able to go through a mini notebook cover and a piece of CS together. Good luck! Anxious to see your finished product!
Keri,
My only tip is - don't punch too far in on the card - my punch makes what I can only call teeth marks on the edge. Punching through 2 sheets is no big deal, though I have never done more than about 30 cards at a time. The template idea is so great - yet another why didn't I thinkink of that?1
Happy stamping and punching.

rectangle punch
Keri,
Have you tried the new "double circle" punch. I bought one of those along with the new Slit punch and really like both of them. Don't know how far apart you needed your holes.
This is a great tool...especially for little eyelet accents.
Can't wait to see your card.
PS. We just gotta meet up somethime. I pm'd you last month....
Stef we do have to get together!!! What are you up to this week? I as you can see am going to be doing the invites!!! LOL
I have the doubelhole punch but the holes are too little for the 7/8 Organdy...oh well. I use it all the time for other stuff so that is fine! LOL
And you know, I thought I knew what I wanted.... now I think I may just have to go and look in person!! LOL I will post it don't worry. I will hopefully have the prototype done today... I have a sort of one done in my gallery already but it is using the wrong corner punch and there are some other details I am going to change...
I have always found that doing many multiples is easier with the round punch and it is much more forgiving and requires less attention to lining them up perfectly. If the rectangles are not perfectly spaced or perpendicular to the edge of the paper, it is much more noticeable!
Thanks for template idea lakegrandma! Now, why didn't I think of that???

I've seen in the paperwishes catalog (and online somewhere) that there is a long reach double punch. Once again, I don't know about it. Anyone try that one?
Keri, have you tried the perfect bow that's been posted before? I can't remember who posted it but here it is. I used this for a swap/sketch 2 challenge card and it works great. You don't have to worry about the bow falling off. I made a template and then marked my CS where I wanted it placed. I was able to use a 1/8 inchhole punch because of where I wanted it. If nothing else you could use the hole punch that comes with an eyelet setter to make your holes.
Well I bought a single rectangle punch so that I could get moving on it today...here is what I am going to be doing for my brothers wedding...150 of them...anyone coming over to help??? I will make cookies!!!
I know SU doesn't carry this but has anyone thought of using the Sizzix paddle punch that they call the retangle lacing punch? You also need a mat and their special hammer. I did 150 invites for my mother's in law's 80th and hand punched them all. I wish I had had the sizzix lacing punch then and I could have taken my agression out with the hammer!
Keri, I have to say that you are an awesome stamper!! You lend such an elegance to your cards that you inspire me. I got the Toile Blossoms because of your examples - no one uses that set like you do!!! Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the encouragement... I was so freaked out yesterday because I didn't like them once I was done...you should see my workspace...I tried them about five times and still didn't like them!! SO I called my mom and had her look at them...she oooooed and ahhhhhed over them and said they were wonderful, so I figured maybe I just needed to sleep on it and then look at them today...LOL I like them today... Yesterday was just a weird day for me!!! LOL
Thanks for being so encouraging...there are times I get so nuts about something and a little calm reassurance from you all is just what I need! LOL
