Default Remounting stamps

I got a hold of some old stamps that were not mounted correctly-ie not trimmed. Once you remove them, remove the excess adhesive from the old block, what adhesive do you use to remount?

I have found that if you stick them back on quickly, they will have plenty of adhesive left to remain stuck indefinitely! I have done this with several sets without having to use any other adhesive, and the rubber has not come up yet. Good luck!

Default remounting

When I have had to do that because of purchasing on ebay or what-not, I was able to just stick them back on with the existing adhesive. Just try not to touch it with re-trimming and be careful while peeling it off.

Ive notice that when you remount them with the existing adhesive you still have some on the wood from where the stamp was now trimmed. Does that eventually dry up?

If you put your stamps in the microwave for about 10 seconds (be careful... the wood will be hot) you'll be able to carefully pull the rubber/foam off the wood block. Then trim and stick back on. You shouldn't need any additional adhesive.

Try using the product called Un-Du. You can get it in craft stores, as well as the craft dept. at WalMart. It's great stuff! I'm a librarian, and we use it all the time to remove sticky residue from labels on books, and for repositioning stickers. It's coolest feature is that it allows you to remove a sticker, etc., and then re-stick it with no loss of stickiness. I haven't used it on stamps yet, but I don't see why it wouldn't work!

Yes Nicole, I have done that too! 10 seconds in the microwave does the trick. The first couple sets I ever mounted I didnt get close enough, a year or so later I heated them up and peeled them apart and they look great.

If I buy used stamp sets that are not trimmed good enough,I just carefully use my exacto knife to trim off the excess rubber, without removing it from the block. And it works great. The only time I remove it from the block is if it had not been mounted straight,to put it right.

Default This has worked for me

When I first started stamping I did not trim or mount my stamps very well. Someone told me to put them in the microwave for 5-10 seconds, peel the whole thing off, trim it and remount it. Once they cool they work great. I also have some small alphabets where the rubber came off the foam, I just used some regular household superglue and they are just fine.
Hope this helps!

I had to repair a stamp today and the rubber cement did the trick!

I do the microwave thingy too. Once removed from the wood, I put it on wax paper and then re-trim. I've never had to use rubber cement. So far it's always re-stuck fine.
