Renewing rubber on stamps

Hi! Posted this question yesterday but no one replied. Does anyone out there know how to renew the rubber on stamps when it gets too hard to stamp well. I have a wheel that has gotten very hard and does not stamp well. I thought I had seen the solution to this problem somewhere but I can't find it.
