OMG! You are so not alone, I'm constantly doing this! I have been un mounting my wood stamps for over a year now, still not finished! Also un mounting my wheels! I just love it when my room is clean & tidy! Right now it is a huge mess! Our LSS is having their annual spring garage sale & I have a ton of stuff for that and our block is also having a sale! I thought I was the only one who must be obsessed with constantly re organizing, I seem to do that more then actually stamp! Maybe if I stop looking at "Mission Organization" I will be stamping more!!
I'm with this group, too - love to reorganize, always have, and this is just one more area where I do it, but it's a lot more fun than regular ol' house stuff ;) .
Just go with it! There's absolutely nothing wrong with you!
"Hello - I'm Sue, and I'm a reorganizing addict..." SOOOO on this bandwagon! My husband mocks me all the time because about 80% of the time when I'm in my studio and he asks what I'm doing, the answer is "organizing", to which he replies, "Of course you are!" If you come across a newer or better way to store something, or realize that the current configuration isn't working, or introduce new embellishments or whatever into your system, what else can you do? My HUGE undertaking currently is a new by-category stamp index. I already have an index of all of the sets as sets, but needed to do one with categories so I can see ALL of the butterflies or hearts or "Happy Birthdays" at once. I'm about 1/14th of the way through...
You (and I and the rest of our group here) might want to go with the idea that, as we're rearranging and organizing, we're also filing away creative sparks and they'll come in pretty handy when we go to create with all of our newly-rediscovered treasures! Sort of like looking through a 3-D Idea Book, right?
I do this too. I think we all do. Sometimes just want to be in the stamp room but not stamp. So I tidy it up and stamp the next time I come in the room.
blessings
I need one of you "organized" people to come help me! Actually, if my room was all clean and organized, I probably wouldn't want to stamp at all. I am one of those people who needs my stuff out for inspiration, lol. At least that is how I explain it to my husband.....

I got a couple of pretty cloth bins from "31" I thought I could throw a few things in them off my stamping desk, put them on the shelf out of the way yet cute looking and get to stamping. Well one thing lead to another and one thing would fit better in the new bin and the other things in the other basket and it just got out of hand. I am almost done so hope to finish after work tonight. It is a way of doing an inventory I guess.
I would love you Sue to come over & help me make a stamp index! That would be so huge in knowing what you have. Like most if not all of you, I have way to many and wouldn't even know where to begin. The thought of that task to me is way to overwhelming and don't see it happening in the near future! Kuddos to all of you that are doing this or have done it.
My family has accepted that I reorganize and rearrange rooms. A few weeks back, my daughter made the mistake of asking me when I was going to change things around again. Gyah! You guessed it. It wasn't about a week later that I took on the project of moving everything in the stamping/scrapping space in the playroom and flipped it with everything else. It took two days to move the furniture and stuff (between other tasks). Two weeks later I'm still dealing with the fall out of making those final touches. When am I going to get back to stamping? Sheez!
I've been disgusted with card-making for a couple of weeks now. That being the case, I've re-organized my stamp room and now I'm getting dirty in the garden instead of the stamp room! And.....I'm just about ready to put some chickens in the stew pot! Those little pests ate a whole row of lettuce!!!
Your not alone. I reorganize when my MoJo is in a slump. I am reorganizing this week. I got back into nail art. I am buying all the new pretty tools and nail colors so I can start making custom nails. I had to make room for my new items.
Do it all the time. Every time I'm working on a project or last minute card that comes up, I realize it's not as easy to find a particular item, ink color, paper pattern, or whatever I need. So, the reorganization starts up again in the hope that the next project will be faster to complete because I will spend more of my time stamping instead of looking for the supplies. Well, at least I can dream that it will work out that way!
I would ALMOST like to give it all away and start over
I HEAR THAT!!! The next-best thing is to move everything out, then only move in what you really want. I did that when I relocated my studio from the guest room in the attic to the "office" on the main floor... Amazing what you find that you never knew you had! A lot of it went to the Boys/Girls Clubs of America and the Girl Scouts, the rest was serendipity!
Surprisingly, though, I'm STILL tweaking the system...
I'm going to be the odd one out here (nothing new about that ), and say that you need to do some stamping. If it's bothering you, then my advice is to try what I'm doing now. Allot a certain amount of time each day or week to organizing/tidying. Then use the rest of your stamping time for STAMPING. I used to get so caught up in organizing and putting away things that I had no time left to do what I really enjoy: stamping, scrapbooking, and making jewelry. This seems to be working very well for me. My supplies are organized, for the most part, and I am doing what I love to do. Have fun!
I understand. I have a space in my basement where I stamp..I now have a free bedroom and am going to turn it into my "stamp room". I am planning and replanning, and trying to decide what I will need or want..I want it organized as right now it is driving me nuts. I need to just commit and go for it....then I can reorganize my new room...Ha ha ha.
I , too, LOVE to organize. I like how things look and when i reorganize or just plain organize I purge. I wish I was not a full time working person so I could orga ize my whole house NOW. I'm in one of those moods. I have my scrap room so tore up.. with painting, painting, and nothing in it because need to reorganize the room. LOL I'm with you all....................its relaxing too.

I have a friend who has began a similar task. I just happened to think of a database.
Would that work? Stamp and scan then enter in the database. You could do sorts based on any theme, or manufacturer. You could eve indicate retired Stampin Up sets versus current images
