To all of you wonderful, creative and very talented stampers:
I posting this request for stamped journals for a very good cause.
My boss is the secretary of CREW (Commercial Real Estate Women) Pittsburgh. CREW Pittsburgh has created a charity foundation called CREW Pittsburgh Foundation, for which she is the President. CREW Pittsburgh Foundation's purpose is to support women in the Pittsburgh area who are undergoing chemotherapy through their "New You" program. The women of CREW Pittsburgh Foundation create these wonderful bags that they call "Satchels of Caring" that they distribute, and included in the bags are journals. They are in need of journals for the bags.
A group of us last year took composition books and covered them and stamped them - and they were a big hit. Since my boss asked if my group would be interested in donating more journals, I thought of all of you guys here - and that I would probably get a great response from you talented ladies, so I'm posting this message to see if you would be interested in creating some hand-stamped journals and donating them to this cause. The journals can be of any kind and any size - and in any number that you would wish to do. [If you don't have the time to stamp something, they take store-bought journals as well.]
You can send the journals to my attention:

I have attached a flyer that better explains the program.
Just a public thank you to joystamp4 for the AWESOME journals she sent me! They are absolutely fanstastic! My boss was thrilled - she just wanted to sit and look at them.
Lisa,
Can you provide me with specific directions for how you covered the composition journals? You can email me at [email protected]
I'm wondering if you covered the back cover and the insides? Do you have measurements or a template?
Thanks for your help.
Alice

I do not have a template for the journal covers - I would just measure the journals and cut the paper to fit. You cut a front and back piece the same size as the front - maybe not quite as wide - and then round the corners. After affixing the the front and back, you can then cut another strip of paper to go around the binding and overlapping the front and back covers. Some of our journals we did cover the insides and some we did not. I think they're nicer if the insides are covered, but not necessary. You can also affix a ribbon under the covering to tie it closed, but again, not necessary.
We've also gotten some really cute 3-ring/spiral notebooks and the spirals had ribbons tied the whole length - very cute.
I FINALLY got a digital camera, so if/when I get more in the future I'll take pictures and download them.
If you have any other questions, please let me know!
And, the program is still in need of journals if anybody would still like to contribute.
CREW is in need of more journals for this ongoing project. Let me know if you'd like to donate journals! Info is in the first post. Let me know if you have any questions.
