I'm glad that they are getting rid of some of the dated looking ones. I hope they bring out some really nice sets, maybe not as many "cutsy" sets, but more like Changing Seasons and Coast to Coast.

P.S. I have to add that I am shocked to see Botanicals go. It's still one of my favs and I see cards posted and in zines with it all the time. What's up with that?
GLAD to see go: Hedgehog Happiness (never been a fan of those), all the Bunny ones, Vegetable Garden (DD), Out of this World
SAD to see go: Stipple Shells, Farm Fresh, Tickled Pink, and my SHOES!
SHOCKED to see go: Botanicals, Paisley BG, Watercolor Garden II
SHOCKED not to see go: COTC (aka Charming Children) [AGREE! I cannot believe they kept those freaky kids!], The Netherlands, Nice & Easy Notes (update it already!)
Glad to see go: Heads Up, A Year in the Country (something about that house with the black windows creeps me out), Vegetable Garden (the pea pod stamp reminds me of a slug)
Sad to see go: A Beautiful Season, Lovely Leaves, Watercolor Garden II, Country Comfort, Coast to Coast
Shocked to see go: Watercolor Garden II, Paisley, Polka Dot Party
Shocked they're not going : Netherlands (because it's not versatile), DD Daisy, A Greeting for all Reasons (I like both of these, they just seem a little dated) Charming Children (YUCK!!!!)
Sad to see go: Sketch a party (use often to make b-day cards), Coast to Coast (don't have it but will be buying it - can make very elegant cards with it)
Glad to see go: Hang in There (Hope they replace it with some other kind of "thinking of you" set, Purrfect (me a cat lover! prefer meow meow)
Shocked to see go: Botanicals (now I need to buy it)
Shocked to see it didn't go: Nice & Easy Notes (ditto to the update it already)

Reason: clean up the reply
a. glad to see go? -- Paisley
b. sad to see go? -- Classic Convertables, Born to Ride, Watercolor Garden 2
c. shocked to see go? Watercolor Garden 2 and any set that was just released last year.
d. shocked not to see go? Charming Children, Watercolor Garden, DD Daisy
I am really not sad to see any go or wish for any to go, but that is just the way it works. I so wish they would release the retiring list and the new catalog with an overlap. I figure some sets will be replaced with comparable items that I would like as well, more or less, then I could decide which retiring sets are a must have.
a. glad to see go? None, I could care less, If it doesn't fit my taste then I ignore it
b. sad to see go? The ones I think I want that I haven't gotten yet, I know I will not be able to get them all before retirement. Bug Builders, Elegant Rose, Filigree, Happy Birthday frame, Flower of the month, Season's Sketches, Stipple Shells, Vine & Berry.
Okay, I'm just now going over this list, (WOWZERS!) and here's my picks:
a. glad to see go? Something Marvelous, Out of this World, Heads Up
b. sad to see go? Christmas Foliage, Antique BG, Stipple Shells, Kids at Play
c. shocked to see go? Wonderful Wings, Sun-Ripened II, Paisley Print BG
d. shocked not to see go? definately Charming Children, all that Wanda stuff,
Lovely as a Tree (I thought it was for sure a goner after the 50% sale...Whew!)
e. must buy? Wonderful Wings, Sun Ripened II, Seeds of Kindness, Roughing It, ......
There are about 25 sets that were on my wish list *sigh*
- Glad to see go: Rhyme Time, Many moos, Heads up, Seeds of Kindness, Elegant Rose (not my style and not enough versitality to it), Something Marvelous,
- Sad to see go: Beautiful bakik, so you know the batik wheel is going also.
: (, Paisley BG, Groovy Lines (which means that the paper pack in pink/brown and blue/brown will be going away).
- Shocked to see go: Polka dot party. Love the scrappin' kit more than the stamp set because you can do so many different cards with it. Not just birthday cards., Bold Basics (even have the brass template), Watercolor garden---even though I don't have this set, Botanicals (I really like the background stamp in this set, but not really the flowers),
- Shocked not to see go: Charming (scary) children, All of page 85 (I second that), Maternal instincts, Bloomin' wonderful, Build a Blossom (not enough versatility to it)
One thing I don't understand is are all the people who answered this demos? If not why can't you just keep using the retired sets that you love? I do. Also if you are a demo and you want to send a card to say a family member can't you do that, or do you have to only use new stamp sets? I just wondered, I can see not being able to use old sets when you demo but why not for personal use?
I hated to see Botanicals and Vertical Greetings go because I had to get them right away or let them go.
I was surprised most about Tickled Pink

I posted this thread originally and I am not a demo just a long, long, long time customer. I just think it's interesting to get into their crazy little decision making minds. Like, why keep The (creepy) Children or Fintastic while retiring my personal favorite and seeminly popular, botanicals? I'll still use all my retired sets but there won't be as many posts on SCS once the demos can't demo anymore. (Cry OL). I also think it's cool to see how many people have the same ideas. (Charming children has GOT to go!)
BTW how can they get rid of Coast to Coast while keeping Netherlands (just my humble opinion)? Makes no sense to me. Fun to speculate!
