OK so I've been wondering this for a while now. Does anyone else prefer the colored rubber to the red?
I like that I can see the all the ink colors on the lighter colored rubber, and I think it stamps better. Now I know this is probably all in my mind, but when trading I'd rather the former HA or SAB set to the current one.
It is nice to see where you colored on the lighter rubber- but overall, it doens't matter to me.
I also don't understand why it bothers people when the rubber has ink stains. They're stamps- you put them in ink. They can't be new forever. I have blocks with ink stains!

I am with you on that one, there stamps, we put them ink, what do you expect. I also have stained wood, I know some people seal their wood first to protect it from staining, I just don't get it cause staining doesn't effect its outcome. With that said of course they are pretty when they are new, but use them and show there use off proudly (man you guys should see my Fairy Nice Fairies, wowzers, cause of course they are always going in the black). Ummmm I am currently guilty of lovingly wiping all of my new Backgrounds down with a baby wipe after use, but I am sure that will end some day.

I'd never thought about it. I do think the lighter colored rubber is easier to work with (i.e. see all colors of ink on it). That rust-red rubber is so standard for rubber stamps. Wonder why?
I like the one's that are ribbed for her pleasure, doesn't matter what color ;-)
(LOL), my mind was thinking something like that when I read the title to the thread and why is that on a stamping board! Ya ya I knew it was about the stamp rubber really, though, but hey got have a little fun.
I don't really care one way or the other. The colored rubber seems to be a little easier to cut, but as long as it doesn't affect the stamping ability, it doesn't matter to me.
And I agree with all those posters that don't mind a little (or a lot of) ink on their rubber or their wood. It just shows how loved the rubber stamps are. I used to be one of those who would spray protectant on the wood before mounting the stamps - - - Now I find I'm too impatient to wait for the protectant to dry and just want to get playing with my stamps!!!!

That's really cute! I always mention this at my workshops/camps when someone "inks" my wood.... I always chuckle and say, "yeah, now I can NEVER send a card made with this set again. Now the person who gets the card will say 'Beautiful card, but those STAMPS you used are so gross looking!'...."
Everyone always laughs and it lightens the mood when someone thinks I'll be "mad" that they stained my wood.
I prefer the colored rubber. I think that it cuts easier and seems to ink up better for me.
I admit, I am anal about my stamps. I don't share my stamps because I am afraid that whomever I share with won't be as careful as I am with them. I like them to look clean.
