OK so im diggin in my silver brads for my current card project...I put a brad in my card...it looks funny...take a closer look, my brad has rust spots all over it, prongs and everything!
Ill save it incase i need a rusty lookin brad for a project, but OH MY! Happy i got my tetnus shot recently!
I'm a demo and have had the same problems w/ tyhe SU brads. Some are rusty, some are broken, and some don't even open. I called support and was sent a new batch and the same thing happened. I used them at a stamp camp this past weekend and customers had lots of trouble using them. Although I am usually thrilled w/ the quality of SU product, I will not order these again, nor do I feel comfortable recommending them to my customers...yikes!

Gosh, I'm so sorry this is happening to you all. I must say that in all my years I've never gotten a bad brad and I use them all the time! Do you think that it could have something to do with the inventory move and perhaps the ones that are now at the front of the picking line are really, really old? Just thinking out loud.

I just ordered 2 packages of silver brads and both were visably rusty. I called demo support and remarked the same thing many of you are saying - I thought they were aluminum. The particular person I was speaking with said the same - he thought they were aluminum, but did not have any info on the material they were made of.
(I also noticed that the newer brads have a slightly shorter shank - at least on the brass ones.)
SU is replacing the ones I ordered. I would definetly call - especially if this is a new order of brads!!! If SU doesn't get info from others about the problem, they cannot have it corrected with the manufacturer!!!!
I have used these in my scrapbooks before and never had a silver one turn, but this worries me. I don't want to put rusty things in with my photos!
I've never had a bad one either. I like the theory about the picking line movement affecting them. I bet they did cycle an old batch up. Regardless though, they shouldn't be selling them to put in scrapbooks if they're going to rust.
I have had some Making Memories brads that wouldn't open, and I finally discovered that if you insert a paper piercing tool right by the head of the brad and pull out between the prongs it will separate them. I can't tell you how many I cursed and threw away before I discovered this.
I just ordered two packages of the silver brads and they're BO'ed.. Maybe they're working on this and that's the reason.
Regardless, I have to rework my christmas card for my stamp camp on the 6th as I won't have the brads for it.
