i've never seen one but a friend asked me to help her make them. i was wondering if anyone had suggestions. i did a search in the gallery and only found 2 samples. i'd like to show her a few more. thanks in advance!
I don't have a stamped sample, but I will share that a Save the Date card is usually much simpler than the actual invitation. My MIL just sent out printed ones for her daughter's Bat Mitzvah. It is simply a means of informing people about your upcoming event, but without all of the details. In my MIL's case, their congregation is moving, but they don't have a new location yet. And if there are a lot of people traveling in for the event, it gives them time to budget for the trip. Her wording is as follows:
Save the Date
February 18, 2006
Larry and Linda want you to
come celebrate with us
as our daughter
Danyel
is called to the Torah
for her Bat Mitzvah
A formal invitation will follow,
but we wanted to give you
plenty of notice for making the
necessary arrangements to be
with us on our special occasion.
This announcement was printed on a vellum layer, then secured to a card stock layer with ribbon. Try to go with the general theme or colors of the event.

I stamped the save the date cards for my sister's wedding a couple of years ago. I kept it VERY simple b/c we had a ton to do. I bought paper from Office Depot that was perforated into quarter sheets so all we had to do was tear apart. They also had matching envelopes. The paper was very similar to SU! confetti white. We pre-printed all of the info on the cardstock (the card was "vertical") and had it centered more on the right side of the card. Then we stamped the calla lilly from the retired set called Long-Stemmed on the left side of the quarter sheet and simply chalked in a little yellow and green and white on the flower itself to perk it up a bit. Then we did the ole' two-hole non-bow ribbon thing at the top in a shear off-white ribbon. It was very simple, but elegant. I'll see if I can find one to upload. Might have to wait until tomorrow. I'll post back here with the link after I get it done.
I worked in a Copy Shop until December, and we also sold Carlson Craft invitations (the kind you special order). Right before I left, we got a book of *just* save the dates--a huge variety! I would suggest you find a store that offers this kind of invitation service and go browse their books. Those offer wonderful inspiration! Whenever we weren't busy, I'd sit and look through them. :-)
Well, I have bad news. I looked and looked and I can't find a copy of the Save-the-date card. I have no idea -- I'm sure I saved one. I'll look a little more later, but I'm not holding much hope. My house is not that big!
I received a very elegant Save the Date card a few months ago....It was long and slender.........9" x 3 1/2". The cardstock was a cream with brown ink. (fall wedding) At the top of the card was .......save the date then a small calendar had been printed on a seperate card for the month of October 2005 with the number date circled in brown ink. The card had been run through the zyron and made into a magnet. A brown satin ribbon was tied around the calendar and attached with dimensionals to the card. Below the calendar, printed on the slender card was
The Wedding Of
name of bride
name of groom
date of wedding
time of wedding
Hotel Information
name of hotel and telephone number to call for reservations and all
information needed for wedding guests
Formal Invitation Will To Follow
We look forward to seeing you at the wedding !
I hope I have described this so you can picture it in your mind. The card is actually very simple with clean lines but most elegant! All of the wording is centered on the card.
I made a simple card and then put a save the date magnet inside. That way guests can just put it on the fridge. I made a sheet of what i wanted the save the date to say and then went to kinkos who laminated them and then i attached magnets to the back.
