Anyone got a good method for storing scraps? I have them in gallon baggies by color family but they slip and slide and I am being overun. Any suggestions?
Any peice 1/4 sheet or bigger goes back in the hanging file with the cardstock it was cut from.
Small scraps go in to clear plastic boxes (shoe box size) that stack.
I have been putting scraps together with a precut and scored card, for card kits. I hand these out at work shops for purchases of $50. I had a guest purchase $150, because there were 3 that she wanted! Crazy!
I have a little 5 drawer thingy that sits on my desk for my scraps. Since I'm not SU exclusive, I have them sorted by color.
Red/Pink - Yellow/Orange - Green - Blue/Purple - Neutrals/Vellum
So far this has worked very well since it's right there where I can see it

I like that idea. Even just for my own personal use. Thanks for sharing.
I seem to have a ton of scraps. I think it's time to go through them though. I also need to seperate my SU from non-SU.

I use an expandable frosted vinyl file that I got from Target -- I think it's a check file or a bill file. It's about 5 in x 10 in, and I separate the scraps into color families. When it's open, it stands up by itself on the table. It works great for me.
I was storing my scraps the same way, in baggies. I found the perfect boxes at the dollar store. They are clear with white lids that open in the middle. I bought four and labeled them by SU color families. I love the new system!
I keep mine in those vinyl page protector sheets in a 3-ring binder. I haven't organized it by color or anything, just flip through until I see the color I'm trying to put away, or look for, etc. I keep 2 colors to a sheet, seems to be working out well so far.
I have my paper in a file crate...and in each color I have a manlia file folder behind each pile of papercolor in the same hanging folder, where I store all my scraps. They way the scraps are with the color that I am looking for and in the same area. I love it!!!

That sounds like a great idea, I think I'm going to try it!

I put my scaps in plastic sleeves that fit on a three ring binder. I have three. One for BB and SS and one for RR and EE and then one for my basics, like ww and black and such. I also took return address labels and stamped a small heart in each color and wrote the name of the color on it. It makes keeping my scraps very organized. I can find what I need very quickly.
I tried baggies in a box for small scraps and then didn't have a clue what to do with my bigger ones, so just started stacking them in a mag holder--it was awful.
I finally bought a huge 12 x 12 accordian folder for $5 at Wally World, and it works beautifully. I sort with one pocket for neutrals, then ROYGBP. Love it, love it, love it, holds everything, I can instantly access scraps and I can instantly file them away. When it gets too full, then I'll simply go through and throw out all the smallest (i.e., most useless) pieces.

I keep anything smaller than a half-sheet (5.5x8.5") in one of the SU! Jumbo plastic stamp & supply boxes (p. 234 in the big catalog). I use 3 of them -- one for Bold B. & Earth E. families, one for Rich R. & Soft S. families and one for Neutrals. They sit on top of my SU! cardstock envelopes (8.5x11 Craft Keepers) in one cupboard of the hutch over my stamping desk. When one box gets too full of scraps to close, I know it's time to go through it and off-load the smallest ones that I'm not really likely to use! That way I never get over-run with little 'schnibbles' and I can also see at a glance the colors I haven't used lately, and force myself to use them. I know ... I'm a dweeb. ;) Interesting thread!
Happy trails....

Reason: clarification
I'm embarrassed to say.............I have all my scraps in a huge box that I recycled from my move............ Wow, you ladies are so organized. I need to get with it lol
I took a Sterilite plastic tub that is about 6 inches in height, but will fit a reg size file folder in it. Inside the tub I used priority mail envies (the cardboard kind) cut off the tops and attached dividers to them. All my scraps are placed by color (Black, Light Blues, Med. Blues, Dk. Blues, Browns, Burgundys and so on til White). This way when I need a scrap I simply pull out that folder and find the shade I am hunting for.
I keep my 8 x11 paper in 3 shelf drawers also by Sterilite. I keep my 12 x 12 in 4 of the Cropper Hopper Mega Workstations. Since there are no LSS stores in my area (not for at least 2 hours in any direction) I tend to overstock paper.
Attaching 2 photos that I think cover these (Not sure --- did not give either such a good file name). ;-)
I keep the larger peices in with the full sheets and the smaller peices I toss in a basket and when the basket gets full I bag them all up and take them to Megan's school her teacher LOVES getting them and the kids have a blast making art projects with them. I'm sorting through my non-su stamps and ink pads and the ones I will never use again I will also take to the school. The teachers usually have to buy a lot of the stuff the kids use out of there own pocket so they really appreciate anything like this they can get.

Like Arlene, I use the drawers for my paper. But....
...Inside the bottom section of my stamping cabinet, I have rolling hanging files for my full sheets of paper (and envelopes). I precut half and quarter sheets (a few at a time only) and place these in a drawer in the top section--one drawer for each color group. The half and quarter sheets are in the front. The scraps are in the back, with a divider separating them, to keep them from getting mixed up. This way, I have enough paper in usable sizes right at hand, and larger stocks of full sheets in a convenient storage location.
These drawers (there are 72 of them) are in the hutch top of my cabinet and hold paper, stampsets, stamp pads, tools, supplies, etc.
I used to use plastic bags too...but got really tired of them slipping all over the place. ;-)
This is a great topic for those of us who have not figured out what to do with all those paper scraps! I like the idea of a clear folder as when I browse through my shoebox of pieces I get ideas of putting different colors together just by looking! But, the time is here to organize. What is a cropper hopper workstation? Thanks, Dottie
