I have not done any scrapbooking. and I did a fair last weekend and one of the women who signed up for a workshop specifically told me she wants me to do scrapbooking and not cards.... plus they are all school teachers. It sounds like a big crowd but I have no idea what I can teach them since they are all experienced. I will deomsntrate our alphabet set and stamp-ma-jig but after that I am totally blank. I have two weeks. I can get ideas of what to make but I have no idea if what I am looking at is simple or too boring or too challenging. I couldn't say no because I am trying to get my business started but I am freakin'! Help please!
How 'bout the brag books as Christmas gifts and the 6X6 cards to mail in the vellum envelops? This would allow them to use their scrapbooking skills in a condensed way.
For my scrapbook workshops, I demo three things, but allow them to do one make and take, usually a 6 X 6.
I try to demo techniques or give tips, and not neccessarily layouts, as my ladies are already so creative, they don't need that help.
I've done the plaidmakers, different techniques with brayers, gave tips on stamping letters for titles, matting suggestions, one sheet wonders, etc. This Saturday, I'm doing vellum, tags, and going to show off my markers (hope to get a club going with these ladies). Hope this helps
I just made a 8 1/2" x 11" one sheet wonder template that makes 6-8 6" x 6" scrapbook pages. I would be happy to e-mail it to you if you'd like. As a former Kindrgarten teacher and scrapbooker (turned SAHM), I was always on the lookout for something that was fast so that I could keep up. Just let me know if you'd like me to e-mail it to you.
Good luck! You might demo the paper saving template, too.
Embossing powders are ok. Glitter is so-so. Glitter can come off and scratch pics so if you do use glitter, try to use it in something that can be sealed.
Don't forget to show them how to make their own background papers. As a scrapper, it can be a challenge to find just the right background paper.

I think the wheels are a great idea as well! You could also show them how to make a versamark ink cartridge with a versamark refill and empty ink cartridge. Then they can use it on any color paper.

Here is a list of things that I show when I do a Scrapbooking workshop:
Simply Scrappin' Kits are - have sold several sets by showing how many pages I can decorate using these kits. Lately I have been using the Level 1 hostess set (In Full Bloom). I have booked a lot of parties because people want that kit.
Stampin' Spots and how easy they go with alphabets for quick and easy portability (when scrappin' with friends).
Slit punch (which is currently unavailable) to hold photos. They LOVE this and it is great for people who are uncomfortable cutting their photos.
The Paper Saving Template (that is a supply item) I us as an incentive for my hostesses. Cheap and easy and the guests all want a copy (results in more bookings for me).
The small circle punch with the alphadots and how easy it is to cut these letters out and mount!
I hope those ideas help - by the way - when I do a scrapbooking workshop my make and take is usually something non scrapbooking related - like a 2-4-6-8 box.

First of all I am not a demo but I do go to my demo's scrapbooking classes (gosh do not know if that is what they are called or not but that is what I call them!)
I don't know if you are just going to do a demo or if you are going to do a "class" so they can make pages. If you are just going to do a demo I would probably make a couple different size pages to show them different options. 6x6 for a brag book 12x12 for a family album whatever....
I would ask the person who signed up what size pages she and some of the attendies use and focus on those and the 6x6 easy book concept.
I would do a couple cute pages that could be a couple different things like - use the cute as a bug set and it could be halloween or for a baby page - so you could show how one set could be used for more than one type page with totally different looks. Then show a wheel to do borders or backgrounds and how quick and easy it is. Then I would add some ribbon or fibers to a layout and MAYBE eyelets. Make sure whatever you show - it is easy and fast enough so that they do not feel like they are taking hours to complete one page and it is a WOW page that one would say "I want to do that in my album"...
Those are just a few thoughts I had!

I would LOVE to have this template, if you do not mind. I am interested in 8 1/2 x 11 scrapbooks, but have not seen this template.
I also saw on DIY (the website...I don't get the channel ) that Shellie made homemade tiles with wire and Crystal Effects. This would be really cute for scrapbooks!
Something else you can do is show them how to incorporate that really great card they recieved into a page. I am still learning this one so I can't really help but it is an awesome lo.

I do scrapbooking and you don't see people doing too many borders anymore,
you should be able to gets lots of ideas doing a search on scrapbook sites.
