Question Scrapbooking on Canvas

I was just at Micheals and they had a great deal on 16 x 20 canvas. 2 for 12.99 less 40% coupon. Bought them not sure now what to do with them. I want to scrap on them but not sure how to get the paper to stay. Has anyone used modge podge to keep the paper down. If not what? Ready to Scrap and not sure how to start. Help. Picaso in Waiting.

Hi! I did two scrapped canvases not to long ago.

Altered Canvas 1
Altered Canvas 2

I painted them first (so the sides and distressed areas would show through) and then I added the paper with a bit of E600 on the painted canvas. It is industrial strength glue...probably WAY more than I needed, but it is what I had on hand. I then added the photos and the embellishments as I normally would.

I would think ModPodge would work...???

I've used mod podge on items I've covered with paper with no problem. HTH

Artist's gel medium makes a great adhesive for canvas work. Plus, you can choose how heavily textured your piece is by the type of gel medium used. Some of it has enough body you can make stucco effects. Gel medium can also be tinted with regular acrylic paints or colorized with inks or paints after it dries. You can also stipple it, run a comb through it, impress it with fabric (Burlap, linen) for additional texture or just use a palette knife for the effect you want.

Almost forgot--it's strong enough to hold any embellishments you want to incorporate into the work.

Another vote for gel medium. I do lots of collage work on canvas and find this works the best for me. I get the Golden brand at Michael's, in the art section with paints, etc. it's not expensive at all.

Oh Wow...I am totally NOT a scrapbooker anymore...and these were the first canvases I made. I had a 'challenge" to make them of "myself" for my crafting room. I am surprised, but I like them too!

Thanks for your kind comments!:-D

The canvas frame is adorable. Will have to try it. Hope it isn't to hard.
