I had a lot of people e-mailing me and asking some questions, I tried to compile a list of Q&A's regarding this subject on this post of my blog: http://sherrie-cardcreme.blogspot.co...questions
We had a craft fair at church to raise money for our building program and I sold the regular 4.25 x 5.5 cards for $2 and anything smaller for $1. I sold the Paper Crafts Purse with a RSVP pen and 8 cards w/envelopes for $25 each.

My sale is in my home so I just use tables and stand and lay them on the tables in areas (like birthday, thank you, etc). I have tall orange columns that I made out of 8.5 x 11 paper folded into a tall triangle and marked the type of card in that area. Easy to see. I have about 5 tables worth.

I've used baskets in the past, but several years ago I inherited one small and one large revolving card display from a friend whose gift shop went out of business. You can also buy displays from a company called Siegel. I can't remember anything else about them...but I think they have a website.
Hi,
I don't know if anybody has mentioned this before but there is a thread that talks about Craft fair bestsellers. This thread has lots of info on pricing, card display etc. on there. Some ladies even attached pictures of ther tables and card display. It will answers some of the questions you ladies have on here.
I am always eager to read this type of thread when I see it; it's interesting to get feedback on others' experiences. I know this is an old thread, but wanted to share anyway.
A friend of my Moms just opened a gift shop. She had contacted me before the shop even opened, when it was still in the planning stage, then again after it opened. We agreed upon a price and she chose some cards to purchase...1 of each! I was a bit shocked at that.... Anyway, some of the cards she chose were for a special card basket I was donating and I had to make duplicates. When I went to deliver them, she acted really stern (her manner made me feel like I was a child who had done something wrong) and told me we would have to do it differently next time. I asked what she meant by that. She wanted the cards for half price and she was only paying me $2.50 for them! I told her "no"; these cards are hand crafted, not run off a printing press. There's no way I would sell a card for $1.25! They were each packaged individually with an envelope, in a clear envelope.
When I was showing her samples, I took in all kinds. One she picked out had 11 layers, glitter, embellishments and coloring...she wanted to pay me $4 for it! I declined.
Interestingly enough, my 11 year old son told me that I needed to sell my cards to "someone who respects you".... Pretty intuitive for an 11 year old!
Needless to say, I won't be doing business with her again.
I sell a lot of cards every year...I am doing the swim teams again this year and those two alone net me over $5,000. I also sell them from a basket at my hubbys work. This generates $75.00 to $125 per week. Also supply all the cards that hubbys work sends out for birthdays and anniversaries. I do all these things plus church bookstore, Church card ministry, TROOPS and youth fundraisers at church. I am just under 50,000 sent to our troops for sending home to their loved ones.
blessings.
yup I sell them for around $2.00 a card as well. My style are usually simple when selling, if special orders I charge a little more, depending on how big they want the cards
I just want to say that I'm so sorry so many of you are not getting more money for your hard work and talent. Hallmark cards are easily 4-5 dollars, and a well-done hand-made card should at least bring that.
I did demo work for Rubber stamp stores in the late 90's and early 2000's I always got $5.00 a card. I got the same price from an art gallery gift shop too.
Would it help to show people a couple of Hallmark cards?
I guess it's the mother in me, I want you to get what you are worth!
