Does anyone know if SU has a retired stamp for serious cyclists? My dh is a Lance Armstrong wannabe, and his birthday is coming up. I'd love to make a card for him with cycling as a theme, but all of the stamps I've seen -- and I haven't seen many -- are childlike stylistically or the images are of old (antique) bikes.
If SU doesn't have one, do you know if another mfr. might? (Heaven forbid!)
Feel free to PM me if this isn't an appropriate place to discuss. I'm new here, and still feeling my way around.
I haven't seen one. My DH would probably love it as well. I'd even go to the lengths to have one made, but most of the royalty free graphics of bikes seem to be 1980 style 10 speeds. Giving him a card with loopy brake cables would crack him up!
BTW, have you seen any of the Lance "Icon" wear. I just saw a blip about it on OLN, but don't know if it's available in stores yet. I might actually be into that!

I live near Chicago, and we have a NikeTown here. They have 102 stuff already, but I haven't been there since the end of the Tour to see if they had the icon stuff yet. I think that may be what dh will get for his birthday present!

[Okay, how do y'all get that cute quote box to come up when you want to insert a quote? I used the "Quote" button, and I got this HTML gobbledy-gook.]
SU had a 2 piece set in the spring mini called Rip n Shred. Adult figure, helmet, racing type bike and the tilte words. If you can't find the set pm me with your address, I can share some of the stamped images with you.

I hope someone knows... I've been looking for "serious" cycling stamps (both road and mountain) for years now with no luck! The "Rip n Shred" was really not what I was looking for... that's actually BMX, not mountain... my sweetie's too old for that! ;)
What about a nice masculine tennis stamp? Anyone seen anything like that?
i could use that too! i have just started scrapping my pics from the france trip last year so i've not gotten anywhere near the tour photos. still doing too much thinking about the pages and not enough doing!
and as to the quote box, if you hit the quote icon on the right bottom side of the post you are trying to quote, it should bring it up like that. so will typing (quote) then (/quote) around something, but putting [ instead of (. your first part of your response would have been in a quote box but seems you cut out the quote] part. the paragraph starts with [ and then ends right. just missing the quote].

the html gobbilty gook is what gives you the quote box.

I guessed by the accessories, LOL. The hump on his back could be a Camelback, and I thought BMX riders wore a full-face type helmet. I wasn't impressed with either of the "activity" stamps from the summer mini.
I laughed hearing Lance say he was an "old man" this year. DH still gets out quite a bit. Unfortunately, he's had 2 nasty crashes in the last week. Road rash is just ugly!
I'm just thankful my husband is a mountain biker. I got Rip and Shred. And I finally found an old On the Go set - it also has a hiker and a climber as well as the mountain biker (along with some other stuff that he doesn't do I could use a road biker for me though. A couple of years ago when I was sending letters to my family to raise money for the MS150 ride I was doing, I used the bike from the Simply Summer set which is cutsey.
I guess we all need to e-mail SU with a request for a road bike stamp
My DH is a road cyclist (and cycle cross)! I like to make him cards with the Making Tracks wheel (page 113).
I have a Uptown Rubber Stamps Mountain Bike stamp that I use but I just checked and unfortunately it is discontinued.
We know all about road rash. So sorry to hear about those crashes!
Red Molly, CTMH has a nice of non-cutesy sports stamps that includes a tennis racket and tennis ball. I got it 6 months or so and haven't seen the new catty to new if it is in or not.
Holy Cow!!! I checked ebay... they have a cow on a bike, Santa on a bike, frog on a bike, hedgehog on a bike...... plus a couple of antiques and cute children. No Lance or any of his buddies. : (
Thanks for looking, GarnetJ. I've got that on my watch list. The only problem is that it's kinda small (only 1.5"). But, if that's all there is, I'll find a way to make it work!
In the Spring Mini SU! came out with Life Cycles. It is a series of bicycles. Tandem, etc. no real good road bike, but other bikes are cute & there are some good samples that may help in the gallery.
I know little to nothing about road racing, but I do have an old wheel which has 4 or 5 bikers involved in a race. I'm sure equipment and clothing have changed greatly during the time I've owned this stamp.

Thanks, JenJam, but none of those bikes works. The closest is the women's two wheeler with the basket in front, and if I put that on DH's card, he'd throw me out of the house! I appreciate your help, though!

My hubby's prepping for the MS150, too... and I wouldn't mind a cycling stamp for the thank you cards... will be watching this thread! :-)

I have a stamp called Mountain Bikers from Uptown Design Company. I went to their website, clicked on Catalog and did a search on "bikers". There is a picture of the stamp there, but unfortunately it looks like the stamp has been discontinued. My DH bikes as well, which is why I bought it, but you may want to check e-bay or the like. I know it's not much help but thought I would pass this on. Wish I could help more!

lol I know the feeling. Hubby is a racer & ranked 3 in state on the track last year in his Category. My Father in law also owns 3 bike shops too (so does DH uncle). I used to work for the National MS Society & put on the Houston to Austin MS150 here(largest in country 13,000 cyclists!). So we are a HUGE cycling family. I have found cycling stamps here & there over the years. I found a tiny road bike (about an inch) at Michael's a while back. But It is really only big enough for a metal tag or a background stamp. I will let you know if I find any.

I couldn't find anything for my husband's birthday card, not even a nice sticker. I wound up printing the lyrics to Queen's Bicycle Race on blue cloud vellum and inside I stamped Wish It - Dream It - Do It. A non-SU card all the way!
