Please help. I'm thinking about buying a stamp-a-ma-jig, but I don't want to spend the money if it' not worth it. I was told by a SU rep that it works great with the craft pads to double stamp the image to get a more opaque image. I'd like to hear comments from those who have them, and helpful hints on how to use one.
I just saw in another thread that you can use a wheel guide at a right angle to do the same thing as a SAMJ. If you already have a wheel guide, I wouldn't buy a SAMJ, but if you don't have either, I would still buy just the wheel guide. You can do both things with one item, and it is even a little cheaper.
I didn't buy this tool for a long because the old catalog pictures kept me from knowing what it was for. This is one of the best items. I use it for my scrapbook titles and for a lot of images that I don't want to chance. It is so easy to use that I find myself using everywhere! It can be cleaned with a baby wipe. It travels well for workshops and is relatively inexpensive so it's a great add-on for orders. Almost all of my regular customers have ordered one after using it in my classes.
I would definitely recommend it. It's an absolute must if you want to do two step stamping and need an exact placement. But . . . get the type that SU sells. I originally (before I discovered SU products) bought one shaped like a 'T' and I quickly discovered that the height of that one doesn't allow you room to 'place' the second stamp where you want it before you are right on top of the paper. The one SU sells is higher and allows you to place the stamp against the neck of the SAMJ and place it right where you want it and lower it onto the paper. I think it's worth the investment.
I love this tool. I would buy another one. I once thought "Ican get it close enough" I love that when the stamping isn't perfect (missed a spot) I can fix it. I have both this and the wheel guide. If you use the wheel guide make sure you use a plastic sheet too.

Absolutely...it's a wonderful tool and now I use it often. It took awhile as I would be in a hurry...and you know what hurry does...I to often had to redo! If I use the Stamp-a-Majig I save lots of time and paper and can get stamps postitioned right where I want them!!!

as a "nitpicky Virgo perfectionist" I am pretty concerned about placement
so stamp-a-ma-jig ?
yes!
Yes!
YES!
there is also a nitpicky way to use it to ensure your stamps are assembled accurately- that they are "true"
After some fiddling I've assembled sets like "Simple Sketches" and "Solemn Stillness" so that after stamping the lightest image(ink, blot, stamp) I can just stamp the next, darker image without moving the wand part of the jig
lots of work to set up(and explain) but super-fast for making swaps and Christmas cards !!!
I totally DISAGREE with using the wheel guide instead of the stamp-a-ma-jig.
The wheel guide is raised up - so will be cumbersome to use with your smaller stamps.
The wheel guide would also be way more cumbersome in general to use, the stamp-a-ma-jig is small and SO EASY to use.
I keep mine handy and use it a lot.
And when people tell you to use vellum instead of the plastic, don't waste your expensive vellum on this. Keep a damp rag nearby and use the plastic, wipe it, reuse it. NOT a big deal.
That's my nickel's worth.

The best tool ever!!! I visited a local stamp store and she said that she has stamp positioners and her most costly one is around $80.00 and she LOVES the stamp-a-ma-jig the best. I took her word, bought it and never looked back!!

I agree with many of the others....the wheel guide and the stamp-a-ma-jig are two totally different items. I have both and I am not even sure how you would line up an image sheet with the wheel guide b/c it is so raised.... :? ...I have been stamping for years and just recently got it b/c I didn't think that I needed it before! I could have saved myself so much frustration! The one at Michaels is the same one that SU offers so that may save you if you have a coupon.
I also recommend the wheel guide! But not for the same reasons as I recommend the stamp-a-ma-jig!
