and envies? Do you just put a verse or greeting, do you use a stamp from the set you used on the front? I know we all do different things---but I think it would be fun for a change to SEE the inside AND outside of your cards and some matching envelopes. What do you say--would anyone like to upload some or attach thumbnail images to get the rest of us inspired?
Comments about your favorite thing to do on inside or envie? Comments about what you'll NEVER do again because of problems it caused mailing the card?
I usually leave the inside blank for a personal message especially in Thank you,
Sympathy and Just A Note if there is a word or words on the front. I usually stamp something small inside from the front theme as well as on the envelope. I never used to do this but now have a hard time not doing it. I always cut a white or vanilla piece of cardstock, leaving just a small border, for the inside. Gives a more finished look.
A number of cards that I have received have a post-it note on the inside with something written on it. These are mostly RAK's that I've received, so the person sends it so I could use it again, but mostly I just keep them. I've started taping a piece of paper to the inside. I use repositionable tape so it can be removed with no problem. When I'm sending a card to someone, I sometimes stamp something inside or write a note.

It depends on the card. If it's a birthday card, I usually put a greeting stamp on the inside as well - I eventually invested in the old birthday greeting set and plan to buy the new one also. I figure most of the cards I make are for birthdays, so it's a good investment. Depending on what was on the outside of the card if there is a coordinating smaller sized stamp, then I will sometimes stamp in at the bottom of the inside as well. I usually forget to make an envelope to match, but one of my best stamping buddies is DIE HARD for stamping on the envelope as well. Of course, it always makes her cards that much cuter to receive!
I used to write in the card, but then I got mad when I messed up and ruined the card.
So now I write on white cardstock that fits inside the card. If I have a set that I can stamp inside the card I just put the written on cardstock in the card. If there's nothing stamped inside, I adhere the written on paper into the card.
I've never done anything to an envelope except address it and put a postage stamp on it.
I like to put something on the inside of my card as a decoration. If I put a message I usually print it on vellum and emboss or, sometimes, print on the CS first. I like to put a strip of coordinating paper down the center or on the bottom left side, maybe a coordinating sticker or punch that matches the outside. I always try to put something on the inside that will match the outside and people just love it. I'm not an SU demo and I don't have any SU products (still looking for a demo when my budget allows) so I won't post any pics.
I do like to embellish the envie but usually just the flap, a pretty seal that matches the card like a punch or sticker or a stamp.
I use a verse stamp in Birthday cards... write a personal note for Sympathy or Get Well cards. After having messed up a few cards when writing messages, I sometimes use a sheet of plain white paper for the inside. I fold it in half; cut it to just a bit smaller than the card size; write inside; then tape this paper inside of the card with doublestick tape near the fold.
This trick helps when the card itself is made of a dark color cardstock and you can't write on it.
It drives my DH crazy because I rarely put things inside my cards. I mean, it totally drives him bonkers. Personally, I think it's funny to watch. lol

But who do you send your cards to? I leave the insides blank if sending a batch for a swap. Also, if selling a package of Notecards for a fundraiser.
But for a friend's birthday, or my daughter's anniversary, or ... most anything I can think of ..... I can't quite imagine leaving a card blank inside.
SharL8y--you said:

You don't HAVE to be an SU demonstrator or even use SU products to post pics or messages here. It is MOSTLY SU people and products, but they welcome everyone. It's what I love about this site--everyone is included and encouraged. So post away...
I haven't been doing much with the inside of cards (beyond a hand-written note), but have been playing around with enview. I have made a few of my own to match the cardstock, have lined others, dry embossed the back flap, or stamped a related stamp on the front (lower left). If it is a floral card, I sometimes just stamp a little ladybug or bumble bee on the envie.
yes post away Dj!!!!I own lots of SU stuff but I always have my eye out for stamps and scrapbooking/cardmaking stuff wherever I shop! We're equal opportunity here!
I most always use a computer generated verse or poem that I print off on cardstock and I get two per sheet and then cut in half. I have also gotten much better at being able to just make card fronts and attach them to a folded piece of white with my verse inside. I used to feel funny about card fronts and it was limiting my color choice if I printed the inside. I couldnt do it on dark cardstock, so this has helped. What I put depends on what the card is for.... sometimes I search on line for a special short poem to use if it is a theme card or I have even written my own. Depends on whether my poem muse is working or not. Like now I am making a summer card to send to a group of friends that I send cards to about once a month and the verse is a summer poem. Of course the card is sea shell themed.
Summer brings us nice warm sun
For swimming, fishing, and lots of fun;
For finding seashells in the sand;
For sunbathing to get a tan;
To do all these things and more
At the beach and seashore.

I use the stamp from the outside on the inside of the card. I stamp greetings or go to other sites and get verses and print them out in a color of ink and on a color of card stock that goes with my card. I also like to stamp the envi on the bottom right of the front and on the back center of the flap. If I have brads that go through I also stamp a piece of cs and put it over the brad ends so they are not seen.

Mostly depends who the card is going to ... many of my friends and I use the cards we exchange in our scrapbooks so I write right inside of those. If I am sending the card to most anyone else, I cut a small piece of plain ol' printer paper and write the greeting/note on that and then stick it inside the card with double sided tape. I also had a stamp made that says "This card is meant to be recycled. Just remove this note and send the card to a friend!" I usually stamp this in one of the bottom corners with a coordinating color. It's just hard for me to imagine my cards just being thrown away after only one use! I'm pretty selective about who gets my hand-made cards -- not very nice of me, hm?
I like the idea of stamping a little something from the set on this too. Will have to try that.
I use clear envelopes so that I can wow! my mail lady!

Coordinate it all! Front of card stamped or whatever,
blank sheet of ivory or white bond paper folded and glued in to fit just inside the card, left side of paper a smaller version of stamped or whatever, if I have an appropriate stamped message it goes on the right side, back of card gets intials-date-and small coordinating stamp if available, and envelope is stamped or whatever with the smaller version of stamped or whatever.
Sometimes I don't do the bond paper inside the card, but I still try to coordinate it all.
I use different sentiments from a computer program that I got at Walmart. Sometimes I just use the inside and sometimes I put the cordinating verse on the front.
I will almost always stamp a saying (i.e. thank you, happy birthday, etc) then write a personal message on the opposite site. I'll usually attached a piece of paper (not CS because it gets too bulky) on the entire inside of the card. I'll do the whole inside especially if I have an embellishment on the front that shows on the inside of the card. HTH
Unless I am making a card to be used as a note card, I will stamp (or computer generated) something on the inside. I also decorate the envelope. Sometimes I will coordinate the envelope with what is stamped on the card other times I will stamp something totally different.
Sherlie-
Thanks for sharing the poem. Are you the "unknown" poet for that one? I bet your friends love getting your cards.
Bensarmom--
Yipee!! Thanks for the photos. I love to SEE examples. That first pic of the floral one is an especially pretty example. (I'll have to figure out how to post those thumbnail pics.)
All of you who put a little verse or saying inside--what do you do when you make a card just because you feel like being creative, without anyone or any particular occassion in mind? Do you wait until a just the right occassion/person comes along and THEN decide on a saying, or do you go ahead and stamp "Happy Birthday" or whatever in advance and file it away for some future time?
I'd love to see more examples of what you all are doing. This is great.
BlueHeron,

My DH too!!! The first thing he does when I show him a new creation is open the card and say, there's nothing inside....ughhhhh!!! I tell him my message inside makes it personal..
Thanks for the info on posting thumbnails. Now I'll know how to do it when the need arises.
Right now, most of my cards are blank on the inside. I don't send many out. Don't know that many people, especially ones who would appreciate a handmade card.
One thing I like to do is leave a 'spot' open on the front or inside of a card for just that special occasion. That way I can go ahead and make cards when I feel creative, but then pull from that pile when I need a card. Then stamp the greeting on it for whatever occasion I'm using the card for. Although, I have gone ahead on some cards and stamped the greeting. Invariably, though, I'll want that one for a birthday card and it says "Get Well" So, I try to leave the words off when I can.

No that isnt my poem,, I wish it was, I googled "summer poems" and it was on a site that came up, it was perfect for my card. And yes, my friends do enjoy their cards, but probably not as much as I enjoy making them,,,
I have found that if i am feeling creative, I just make a card front, and if I want to use it later for a card,, I glue it to a folded white card with the verse inside,,,
If you need a list of gals to share your cards with, join the RAK list on this site, it is a wonderful.

I type up a verse in Word (I do 2 at a time) and attach the half page to my card as an insert. I will either trim the paper a little smaller around the edges or use decorative edge scissors on the insert so it doesn't spill outside the card when closed. I get my verses from all over - store bought cards I received in the past, quotes I come across when surfing the 'net, jokes and riddles...quite often it will be a pun based on what's stamped on the outside. (e.g. a Thank You card with a bee on the front..."I couldn't BEE more grateful" - made that yesterday so it was an easy example to come up with)
The back gets stamped with an adorable stamp my husband had made for me last Christmas "Handmade by KellyBee" (I don't use SU products and am not a demo so I don't have Angel Policy issues) and sometimes I'll glue a punched shape or draw a little flower or something on the insert.
I ALWAYS decorate my envelope. Usually just a little something down the left hand side of it and sometimes on the back flap.
Oh yeah, and I just make my cards as the occassion arises so I know who it's going to and why when I'm making the card.

I can only make a card for a certain person for a certain reason. For Mother's Day I made my mom half a dozen cards for her to send to people. It was so hard. So I don't do that.
I go to versalog.com and find a sentiment to write inside. if it's for an occasion (birthday, anniversary) I write it inside the card. If it's a no reason card (but for a certain person - just to write them a letter/note) I write my note on a piece of paper and put it in the card.
