Smile Silent Setter

I got my silent setter a few days ago at JoAnn's. I LOVE it! It works so easily w/ SU eyelets. I'm using my eyelets so much more now!

I love mine! I even find myself just using the hole punch for things besides eyelets. So fast and silent!!!

Can you elaborate a bit, please? What brand, price, etc? Is is similar to the "silent setting" technique using SU hole punches, or something completely different?

I tried looking on joann.com, but was unsuccessful.

TIA,
Rene

I just got my ProvoCraft Silent Setter from JoAnn's... it's a handle (picture a bulb with a short, thick rod coming out of it, three anywhere hole punch tips and three different size eyelet setters. You use the handle to punch the hole for your eyelet like this:

Put the hole tip into the rod on the handle (it is magnetic)... put the tip on the paper where you want the hole... push down and twist on the bulb of the handle. Voila! Hole.

Switch the hole tip for the eyelet setting head... use the same motion you used to "punch" the hole. POOF! Eyelet is set.

I love the darn thing.

I prefer the Provo Craft because it is silent. The other one is loud like when using a hammer.

I, too, just got my Silent Setter. Let me say that I have never before used eyelets. I bought the Silent Setter after hearing about it on this site. I was a nervous wreck!

Well, it was one of the best purchases I've ever made, no lie. It works so easily! I had difficulty at first punching a hole but got it in no time. And setting an eyelet was just so, so, easy! No noise, no straining, no nothing.

The downside is, from what I've read, that you should use aluminum eyelets only. SU eyelets work fine. That's all I care about! :-)

The Silent Setter came with some eyelets, BTW. Those are the ones I 'practiced' with.

That's what I did too! No more sitting on the kitchen floor to pound eyelets. I can do it right on my table. My table "gives" a little so I couldn't do eyelets on it before. But now I can. I love it!
