I am interested in watching this thread. I also have the Clickit and like it. It isn't silent, but it seems so much better than hammering like a mad woman. I have been considering getting the Silent Setter simply because I don't generally get to play until everyone else goes to bed.
Stampin Up eyelets work well with the Silent Setter its the harder ones like Making Memories that do not work so well.
What don't you like about it? I love mine (of course I don't have the Clickit to compare it to) but at half the price it does the trick. I do all of my eyelet setting when my family is asleep so quiet is exactly what I needed.
Yeah, I also hate waking people late at night, I often leave piles of eyelets to set in the morning! LOL
My upline told us one time that she had to prep for a workshop and her family had been particularly unhelpful that day (4 kids, not little any more), and she said when she started hammering, she just thought of them and hammered even harder. ha ha ha ha :lol:

Do you know the trick about setting SU eyelets with a hole punch (using the 1/8" circle to punch the hole and the 1/16" circle to set it). Of course it only works if you are not setting it too far in on your card or scrapbook page.
I usually have to shut the bedroom door and then go into the bathroom and shut that door too. My husband said if I ever break a tile hammering my eyelets he's not ever going to replace it (and he knows it would just kill me to have a broken tile in the bathroom).
Well, for one, it says it does not misshape the eyelets and I did not necessarily find that to be the case. Also, it seems to just be something that squishes the back of the eyelet down. I tried it both with one of the eyelets it came with and one I already had on hand (wasn't a MM one but not sure what brand). I didn't feel like it clearly "wrapped" the eyelet around the whole that was punched. I also felt the small hole was too small and the medium hole was too big for the average eyelet.
I use the 1/8" punch to silently set my eyelets, not the 1/16". First, I take the regular eyelet setter and ROLL it around in a small circle, inside the eyelet opening that I plan to set. That will give it just a VERY slight lip, and make the edges pull back easily when I set it, and not tend to split and crack as much. Then instead of hammering late at night, I use the punch to set it and it's very easy! If it's in the daytime, I just hammer away! :lol:

I tried the silent setter at a retail store and was impressed by how easy it was. However, I only had the opportunity to use the eyelets that they had at the demo. I don't know if SU eyelets or other brands would be just as easy or not...

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my silent setter and it works wonderfully with SU eyelets. I've never had a problem with them getting mis-shaped. I bought mine at Archivers, it's the only place I've seen it.
I love my silent setter. I have the Provo Craft one. It sets the SU eyelets soooo easy. I never liked the noise of the hammer. Now I'll be using eyelets more.
I have also tried the Silent Setter at Archiver's and was not impressed. I have seen that Joann's carries a Fiskars brand setter with a spring action. Does anyone know about this? I am also looking into the ReadySet tool.
I have the silent setter and love it. I have found that some eyelets dont work with it and its because the silent setter works best with aluminum eyelets. I have a hard time with the other eyelets. I also have the fiskars eyelet setter it works great also it is not silent but not as loud as hammering. All you do with it is you pull the handle and it punches the hole and then you turn it over and then you pull the handle and it sets the eyelet. If you have a Archivers near you they sell aluminum eyelets 100 for a $1.00.
What eyelet setter works best with Making memories eyelets? I have such a tough time with them - becoming mis shaped or oblong. I usually use the hammer and a graduated eyelet setter.
I have the Making Memories Instant Setter. I really like this setter. I had purchased a silent setter and couldn't get it to work at all and returned it.
Last week I was at Hobby Lobby and they had the Instant Setter in stock.
It was 24.95. When I got to the check out it was 1/2 since punches were on sale. I consider it a great buy for 12.50. It's not silent but I still prefer it to the hammer and setter.
