Another thread prompted me to think -- what will SU retire this year? If this thread is already kicking around here, please merge!!
I think a LOT will retire. I think SU is moving towards more current stuff more frequently. I think this will make it harder in a way for demos who have to buy stuff to demonstrate, but may result in more sales in the long run from folks who always need new rubbah!!
Here's my initial guess:

Roses in Winter - a HUGE seller and very popular set
Friends are Like Flowers - an awesome set!
Whimsical Alpha - only 2 years old (I think) and very popular
Mixed Bouquet and Looks Like Spring - still relatively new, and popular!
I don't think Notebook Alpha ever took off! And Create a Coupon seemed to be a good idea, but I sure didn't sell any! And as far as BG stamps go, I'm a BG stamp addict and I just bought Wild Hearts - I have all the current backgrounds except Ephemera, as well as a number of retired ones! And I'm leaning towards getting some BG stamps from Cornish Heritate Farms!

I hope y'all are right. There are only about 2 or 3 on that list that are on my want list. I have found that I have been buying more from the mini's because of their limited availability and because a lot of the sets in the big catalog have been there awhile. I've either bought them or am not interested. I'd love to see a bunch of new sets come out!!! As for going clear -- I hope not! The rubber stamps give more detail and I like that. I would like to have the option to buy the rubber without the blocks since I have gone unmounted. It would love to see a small discount for unmounted but I probably wouldn't save any money because I would probably just spend the extra on more stamps!

Pam
Just curious....for those of you that have gone unmounted with SU stamps, how do you demo these?

I am not a demo and don't anticipate becoming one so it's not a problem for me. Two I my good friends are demo's so they share me. I'm probably one of their best customers.
I was just thinking (sometimes a dangerous thing) I think SU should let demo's use unmounted SU stamps as long as they also demo mounted stamps. Since a lot of folks like the unmounted it would be good to show that SU stamps can be used this way. Let new stampers try it both ways and choose which way they want to go. Then they could also start carrying the EZ mount foam and some sort of storage system for the unmounted. I would like to see envelopes like Close to My Heart because some of the SU sets are too big for CD cases. This way they can offer stampers the best of both worlds!
I think definitely Cool Cat and Balmy Breezes, they were retired in Australia last month, so I can't imagine they would be current in US and retired in OZ.

Joan, I agree with you about SU making some drastic changes coming up....I can see a huge overall ahead, and am excited, but also nervous like you said about having to restock my whole cabinet of stamps!!! I would love to see most of these go! I am surprised you picked some of the newer ones. Where's sketch it, and nice and easy notes:mad: Buh-bye!! Time for those to go!
I agree with most of the ones listed above, but I also would like to see Wisecracks go, along with Fishy Friends and the Gnomes. I'm also not fond of the skunk or the squirrel. I have a feeling that they may be retiring Lovely as a Tree and replacing it with Trees Three. Just a gut feeling.
NO....lovely as a tree can't leave But I'm with you I'm afraid they are going to retire it...its been in there for a while. I'm also afraid they are going to retire Favorite Teddy Bear, its been in there for a while too.
I know stamps have to go to make room for new ones, but I just don't see Trees Three as a replacement for Lovely as a Tree. I used T.T. this weekend very UNsuccessfully despite wonderful instruction from cookiestamper. I just don't have the knack for that one. It certainly has its place just not as a stand in for Lovely as a Tree.
The only disagreement I have with your list is Looks Like Spring. I own it but can't do great things with it, but I don't think it will retire.
Aside from Lovely as a Tree, the one I would miss most is Collage Alpha. I think it's fun and funky.
Doesn't someone usually have a "pick the retiring sets" contest? You should submit, Joan.
Not going to comment on the possible retirements, but I would like to see SU offer the rubber without the wood blocks as an option. Many websites I shop from offer this option. The rubber w/o the block is half the cost and shipping is also reduced because of less weight and bulk. A BIG PLUS is supporting the reduced use of natural resources (the wood). Go Green SU!

Do you think the little sets of 4 "background" stamps will go? Itty Bitty Backgrounds, BG Basics, Beyond the Basics, Fresh Fillers, etc??? I thought that these would go last year and they didn't - and I just bought another one recently! They are pretty handy little sets!
