Kate,
Thank you for this site. I've been wanting to do something else for the troops.

Default restrictions

Do I read it right that if it is over 1 lb package that it is a hassle to get it sent? Has anyone done this. I really want to do this, but I want it to get to them! I would like to hear from those who have.

If its over a pound you have to fill out a customs form at the post office - jsut stating what its contents is! OUr post Office has been GREAT (I have a friend who mails to the troops frequently) about helping you with the right form.

AS for the postage - you are paying for FIRST CLASS NOT airmail! AS we are responsible for getting it to New York and the Military pays the remaining freight.

There is another website that if you don't want to deal with the shopping, packing and sending you can order on line and they do the rest. THAT website is

PLEASE REMEMBER that the December 6th deadline is ONLY for guarenteeing a CHRISTMAS arrival ! I am SURE that ANY package sent will be well received!!!

adding more info here - another well received item are PHONE cards! as well as Beanie Babies - they can pack them easily in their rugsacks and have then for kids they meet along the way. Theses are non breakable items that they really WANT and will LAST!
