With all the new change with SU that mostly effects 'hobby demo', I am wondering what CTMH & TAC offers these demos. Can you explain to me how your income & minimiums work? I am curious to see how much like SU they are or if these companies offer something special to 'hobby demos'.
One nice thing about CTMH from what I have been told by my MIL is that you can have personal orders with a 30% savings, BUT it does not go towards your quarterly quota. But if you have met your quota, that is a nice way to save some extra cash. I don't know if you can do this whenever or if it is once a month, or quarter or what. But I think their original discount is somewhere around 20%. I do think that CTMH has a better retention plan. If you don't make your quarterly quota, you go on some special status until you meet it again. Like you become a Jr. Consultant. So you don't just get kicked out if you don't meet a quarterly minimum - you can still be a consultant. I wish SU! did this. I mean you can be a demo for 5 years, not make one quarter and your out. SU! does make some special exceptions, but still - it would be nice to have a plan like CTMH has for a Jr. Consultant. Things happen - like moves and babies where SU! is not a priority.
I do agree - this new career plan is definately not an encouragement to be a hobby demo, and if you make your quarterly minimums and have a few downline, you would never make any money off them. I don't think that is right. SU! is trying to encourage you to be a business person instead of a hobby demo. Smart on their end, but if other stamp companies have better compensation, some demos may go 'to the other side', but some people are what you call an SU! snobs, where they don't EVER use anything else other than an SU! product, so they would never do that. My opinion is - there is so much out there, there is no reason to limit yourself to one company! CTMH has some adorable tag sets, bookplate sets and sets that look like hodgepodge hardware. I can see embossing those! I'll be getting that next month!

Plus if you become inactive....All you have to do is place an order...And you're up and running again as a Demo.
We have 3 started kits: Starting at $75 to $300.
Plus you can sell your handstamped items anywhere except at your workshops. No special stamps needed.
Can you tell us more about these changes? I was thinking about signing up, but I'd be strictly hobby, so....

Kate - What they have changed is the extra 'volume rebate' & downline overrides. Up until July you can earn extra money on your sales & your downline sales if you sell $250 or more a month. After July you will have to sell $400+ a month to earn more more off your sales & you need to have sold $3,600 in a year to earn anything off your downline.
The good news is you still only have to make $300 a quarter & you will still get the 20% discount, but you won't earn anything extra if you sell a little more or have a downline until you reach this new level.
With ctmh you need to sell (buy) $300 per quarter to remain an active consultant and receive your 22% commision plus override. If you only sell (buy) $100 per quarter you receive a 10% discount. Basically, though technically not acceptable, If you signed up today and didn't make your quarterly minimums you would receive the 22% discount until the end of June. Then you have only a 10% discount a quarter until you sell $300 again in a quarter. You can stay a junior consultant as long as you purchase $100 a quarter

TAC is now strickly acrylic mount stamps - saving you and your customers $$$ and storage space! Although I have always liked wood mounts - I have quickly become used to the acrylic mount system and really love the fact that you can see where the ink is going to land on the project! I have recently started with TAC as a hobby demo and it has been going well - and the fact that the sales quota is only $100.00 within 4 months of the previous order and the starter kits are priced right it was an easy decision to go with them - IMO - it is nice to have other options along with SU!

TACs stamps are similar in the respect that we both use clear acrylic blocks. From my reseach CTMH is a clear stamp that you can also see through that clings to the acrylic. TAC stamps have a Creative Cling foam that is adheared to the rubber, the stamp then "clings" to the block when you place it there. If is should not stick just wash the stamp with water and it will stick again. Let me know if you have anymore questions.

does TAC have wood mounted stamps or are they like CTMH stamps?
TAC sell unmounted RUBBER stamp.....They are not like CTMH's
We use a Acrylic block for our base. Like the wood mounted stamps.
Take a TAC stamp and place it on the acrylic block and start stamping. When you're done. Clean it, Peel it, and put it away in either the plastic container it came in or put in a CD case.

I thought I would explain with pictures. Sometime this helps.
The Angel Company now calls Ez-mount foam "CREATIVE CLING" It is however the same thing as EZ-Mount Foam.
I have both kinds and they are the same.
We have unmounted Rubber stamps much like Stampin' up! Except our's you have to mount to the Foam and Cut out.
I think CTMH has a much better selection of stamp sets than TAC.I like the ideas in the catalogs better too than TAC.TAC has photos but they aren't with the stamp sets they are all scattered throughout the catalog and makes it very hard to find the sets in the catalog.
CTMH has stamps a lot like some of the sets SU has.which makes it nice because if you love SU and you like acrylics you should like CTMH.Plus it saves on your space to store them.

I agree that CTMH has some stamps that I am interested in, just as SU, I see a lot of similarity in the styles of stamps with each company. TAC offers a bunch of different styles, which I have learned caters to a lot of different people. This helps when you have a large group with different tastes. I think each company has a nice selection to offer, I guess it is for each person to decide.

CTMH is really easy to be a demo for. As stated above, our quarterly quota is $300 with a 22% discount, plus, for any sales over $99, you can earn an override commission check from 1.5% to 12% depending on those sales. The 22% you keep at time of sale. If you only do $100 a quarter, you drop to Jr and receive a 10% commission. Once you do $300 again, you automatically become an active consultant again and get the 22%. Some months ago, I saw a girl post about SU and having to go inactive and having to make up a lot, buy business supplies, etc. With CTMH, we don't have to do that. We have what's called Critical Status and you can request to go on it. It's good for a quarter at a time. When you come back from Critical, you are still an active consultant, no extra stuff to buy...basically you come back just as you were when you left.
We also have a rewards program when we start called Straight to the Top. For various levels of sales in the first 3 months, you earn free products.
Also, just announced, is the Rewards Your Way program. For all of 2006, consultants can earn points based on sales. We can use those points for free products, a Sony Cybershot camera, Epson Photo printer, Brighton jewelry, cruise points, and IPod and more. This is going to be so much fun!
Our kit is all inclusive, changes every 4 months when the new catalog comes out. It's $150, plus shipping and tax.

TAC also has awesome accessories from a wide assortment of name brand companies. I also love the acrylic mounts so much faster to use them after they arrive. TAC is a fairly young company compared to CTMH & SU, they can only get better!

I would imagine it just means that that's really not what they encourage. They actually want people to sign up that want to sell, lol. While you can sign up to take advantage of tis demo discount in this way, it's not what they're looking for.

The CTMH policy book states that a recruit can not sign up to be a junior consultant. It is a policy statement. However, it is done all the time and has not been a problem.

I will have to get back to you on the upline being affected question - I need to find out I just had one of my downline go junior. I think it does, but only if you are at the bare minimum for each promotion level

If a CTMH drops to Jr. Consultant, it is possible to affect the upline's title, depending on the upline's circumstances. When a consultant drops to Jr. Consultant status, the consultant will lose their downline, who will be rolled up to the consultant's upline.
However, as mentioned earlier, staying active as a CTMH consultant is not difficult. CTMH offers great support to consultants. CTMH wants consultants to have a successful business and do not focus on simply selling starter kits. The products are great and people will seek you out once they know what you offer. I am looking forward to a long relationship with CTMH. Well that answers my question too! I knew that if a consultant went junior and had a downline that downline rolled up, what I couldn't remember was how a junior consultant affected their upline.

If a consultant drops to Jr., there are a number of ways that it does affect her upline.
1. It can affect the upline's title. In order to be say a Director, the upline needs to have 20 1st downline. If one drops to Jr., while still being part of the downline, she is no longer considered active, and would drop the upline down to 19 active downline. The upline has 30 days to sign a new consultant to keep her at the 20 and stay a director. So, depending on whether the upline is at one of those critical points, it can affect her title.
2. The upline does continue to earn commission from that downline, but, if it drops the upline's title down, her commission will be lessened by the percentage difference in titles.
3. If that downline that went Jr., had a downline of her own, it would roll up to the upline, which, in effect, could raise the title of the upline, depending on where she already sits.
While there's nothing wrong with being a Jr. consultant, it's really in place to help a consultant during a difficult time...say when life gets busy and they can't be as active as they would like. It's sort of a safety net so that one is not forced out of the company because something else came up. The benefits to being an active consultant certainly outweigh those of being a Jr.
