For those of you that buy things on ebay, at what point do you report someone for failing to send the product. I bought some paper online about 2.5 weeks ago. It still has not come. I wish I knew about SCS buy/sell forum there. My guess is that I would not have this problem here.
I believe that eBay has some criteria for what to do before you report a person who has not delivered a purchased item. First of all, have you contacted the seller? If you make contact and they do not reply, or if they continually say they will be shipping soon, but never come through. Then it is definitely time to report to eBay.
have you been able to get in contact with them to know when they sent it and how.. I sent a package out that I'd sold on ebay and the post office told me it would take 2 weeks to get there.. yikes! That was shipping parcel post.
I had bought a movie last year from a seller who had great feedback and then just dropped off the face of the earth and all the sudden had all these complaints. I ended up filing a report maybe 3-4 weeks or so after the sale and ended up finally receiving it. I have a feeling they must have had some family emergency. Ebay has good online live help though, try that..
Sometimes, they have sent the package and just don't answer. What is their feedback rating? I would contact them once more and tell them if you don't get a response by ___________ that you will be forced to turn it over to ebay. It is possible there were computer problems. I had that happen once when I was the buyer. Were I you, I'd wait until the weekend and if it doesn't arrive, report them. :(
When I have had missing shipments, I have waited until after the Saturday mail delivery and then emailed the seller (so that I don't write on Friday night then receive the package on Saturday). Since this is a holiday weekend, the seller would have an extra non-delivery day to reply.
Send as much identification of your transaction as you can -- the eBay statement that you won the auction, the PayPal or other payment information, etc. -- copy and paste it all into one email if possible. And try to be kind and understanding. Most eBay sellers are individuals or small businesses, and they may have had a family emergency, illness, vacation, or been busy getting children ready for school.
Do try to solve this yourself before involving eBay. In several years of eBaying, I've only encountered one true louse, and even he reimbursed my money. I hope this works out well for you.
I've only had one near bad experience on Ebay. I had a package that ended up taking several weeks. I emailed the seller and she told me that it came back to her, that the post office wouldn't deliver it for no apparent reason, then told me that it was in her husbands truck and had been there for a week, finally it arrived and I must say she wasn't too clever. The newspaper that she used to pack with had a date 2 days prior to the day I received it and it was a glass lamp packed in a very thin cardboard diaper box. It did make it without any breakage, amazingly.
The seller's ratings will be a good clue as to whether there might be a problem. If they have a great record it could be that there are some extenuating circumstances that have prevented it getting mailed. Where is the seller from? Could be an area that had some flooding or the mail delivery could be slowed due to extreme weather conditions.
If you paid with Paypal it's easier. After you contacted the seller, and had no reply/resolution you can go ahead and open up a dispute with Paypal.
2 1/2 weeks is long enough to wait without any response or contact at all from the seller. You have 45 calendar days to open up a dispute. You outline all the details (purchase date, contact date, what auction stated as shipping turnaround, etc) and they contact the seller for you. What is nice about PP is they will freeze the amount of your auction in their account just in case you are deemed a refund. Anyway, I was very pleased about PP's response to my issue and I even called them and got a real person to talk to! Good luck with your issue.
You guys are the best. I feel better that there might be something legit. I will email again and see if I hear after the long weekend. They have a good rating, but recent feedback seems to say they have been really slow. If I don't hear, I will follow the directions to see what happens.
Just make sure that if you do open up a dispute through Paypal that you do not close it until you have the item. Once a dispute is closed, you MAY NOT re open it AT ALL or start a new one for the same transaction.
