Default Spellbinders die

Question. I got Spellbinders Truckin through the holidays die set at a yard sale this summer. When I die cut the words I cannot figure out why When I cut them out they are backwards. The smooth side is backwards. If I flip them over I can read them but it is not the smooth side. Anyone else have this problem?

It may just be how they were made. I googled to see the set you bought, and I saw the so many sentiments set that I think is similar to the word dies in your set.

The way these dies are displayed on the site, it looks like they would do just what you said: Cut out backwards so that you have to turn it around to the "back" non-smooth side for the words to be the right way.

Why they'd do it that way is beyond me, but it looks like it was an intentional design choice.

Did it come with original packaging so you know it's actually from Spellbinders?

I have that set and don't have that problem. I just cut one of the dies with the smooth side up and it reads correctly.

a) Try putting the paper smooth side down then the die or

b) put die down face up, then paper smooth side down.

I got it at a yard sale. Now I am wondering if it was a knock off because it was just on a magnetic sheet. The rest of the dies are fine. Another thing it is silver in color not copper like my other spellbinder dies. I have tried a and b as suggested to no avail.

Yeah, it sounds like maybe they were an imitation.... Once I saw that the spellbinders site shows them as linked above, I wondered if that was an anti-theft tactic. If you manufactured the dies as shown in the image, you'd end up with everything in reverse. It was why I asked about the packaging, but I think the color is a dead giveaway.

Sometimes, with SU punches, the only way I can really center them is to stamp, then punch, but that often means that my punch is backwards, because I have to punch from behind the image to line it up. Sometimes, I will take my punch, set it on my foam pad, and gently go over it with my bone folder to try to smooth it out. Maybe that would work for your reversed dies.

It is a counterfeit set. :(

They have definitely been changing up their site images in the last few months, omitting or altering some of the pieces. Sounds like that's working.
