Since you asked.... We really like sports in this house, can you tell?
A skiing event! Set up a really long table (maybe 4 or 5). Have participants make a card in steps down the length of the table (one on each side). Like a race, the first one to finish wins. I would also have the racers wear skis on their feet (or maybe oversized shoes).
I'm also thinking you should do something with the Olympic Rings logo, maybe have a name tag, flag or something.
I love that idea...especially with big shoes...or SU boxes that substitute for shoes...the visual I'm getting is cracking me up!

No funnies today - Mr. Brown forgot to put my box on his truck yesterday :( (sigh)
I'm thinking a paralympic event. Everyone makes their card by manuevering from station to station in a wheelchair. All the cards could be donated to a charity.
Hopefully I'll perk up a little by the end of the day... Mr. Brown, Mr. Brown, What Do You See? Do you see me peeking out the window waiting for thee?
An Olympic Fair! Every person receives a passport at registration. They visit different countries (as many as time allows) and get a stamp in their passport (or sticker). At each country (table) they can make a card using that countries colors, i.e. USA - red, white, blue card, Canada - red and white card, etc.
You could also theme the country. Italy - they make a purse (Italian Leather??), Russia - Winter card and so on. (I'm not very creative here
I suppose you could also theme it to SU! countries, US, CAN and Australia.
Anyway, you get the idea. I know, kind of boring - Mr. Brown isn't here yet
I LOVE this idea. Since I've not gotten the opportunity to travel internationally, I'd love this trip (even if it's imaginary). Where do you come up with all of these fabulous ideas??? (don't you dare say you aren't creative!!!)

Lynn!!
You are creative even when you're depressed!!! WOW!! I need you on my team! You have got to come!!
Here is an Olympic evebt for you... chase the brown truck! Run really FAST! Make the dog run with you! Catch the brown truck! Pull off driver! Let dog hold him by the ankle. Find your package and make brown driver drive dog home with it and bring you to St. Louis! (if this works I will buy you a gold medal!! *giggle* )
Cheer up!

Thanks Lynn and Carla!! It worked!!! I chased that truck, pulled the driver off, tied him up, ransacked the truck, found my package and now it's here LOL Time to go play
But not before we do a rowing event! Tie 6 or 8 office chairs together (the ones with wheels on them). Participants make a card down the aisle between two tables. They work in steps and must coordinate with the other members as they go - no one can move on to the next step until all are finished their current step and then they scoot ahead. In other words, one person on each side will be working on step 1, the two in front of these will be working on step two and so on depending on how many chairs you tie together.
You gals are on a roll...I can't wait to see what the end results are Carla.
I have a feeling I may have to remind everyone that this is not the only activity we will have...Sorry to be a spoil sport but we have tons of fun activities to do...and this is just one of them that almost sounds like it could turn into an all day event! LOL
I am sure we can work it all out...Just keep in mind each Olympic Event will need a time limit...I am happy to say I have saw a few posts with a time limit in them! WHEW! ;)
Hhhmmmm....
maybe that will have to be scheduled for a different get together in the fall..... SCS Stampin' Olympics wait! stop! one big project at a time!!!

Oh Carla! Sorry, but I have to switch gears... I have an unbelievably busy April!
Soooooo, I think you should practice all the ideas that have been mentioned and see which ones will work best LOL You can do it, I know you can! (Make sure you take pictures for your scrapbook) BTW - what is your favorite event?
I have scanned all of these ideas and hope I am not duplicating....
How about a relay race? In teams a single card is created.
The first stamper has a set amount of time to create as much of a card as possible, then passes it off to a second stamper who adds to that card for a set amount of time. Then a third stamper...and so on...
Teams would compete against other teams of relay stampers. The materials and embelishments could or could not be the same for each group. There could even be required elements that have to be included in the card
The card would be a team creation and could be judged many different way.

P.S. I have been lurking and lurking in the ST. Louis threads (for weeks! and read every post!)and still can't decide if I am going to go...4 hours from KC to St. Louis... I just can't decide! I know it would be a BLAST!!!!

I hope you are going to have some things that aren't so physical. I have a bad leg that I have been in the hospital 2 times for to keep from losing it and I am not able to do alot of the things suggested. I'm not saying don't do these things they are great but could you cater to us a little that are not up to these types of things? Sorry for being a stick in the mud.

You're NOT a stick in the mud!!! I'm sure that everyone appreciates knowing that not everyone is wanting to, or able to be very physical. Thanks for letting us know!!

Thank You soo much for bringing this up! I feel so stupid that I didn't think of it! Of course, we'll choose some things that aren't totally physical! We want everyone to have fun! You're not a stick in the mud! I do notice that a lot of the suggested events are physical. Can you think of some others that would be better for those who are limited? I'm sure we can make a good mix of the two!
What do ya say ladies? Ideas please?

We could always do some sort of bingo game with many items listed and if we brought that item with us, we get to stamp that square. It would be stamp related, or not. Is anyone old enough to remember "Let's Make a Deal" where Monte Hall would give prizes away to his studio audience if they had on their person a tooth brush or something else silly? Man am I OLD!!! lol Does that make sense?
Are we married to the idea of Olympics or could we make it game shows? I think the Gong show was great, Let's Make a Deal, Family Feud (Good Answer, Good Answer).
Just some thoughts

Oh how sweet Heaven sounds when you have sent a loved one there.
My SU! G-Grandma did a take off on the three-legged race. Three stampers had their wrists tied together. The center person was the only one who could speak (she couldn't use her hands) and needed to provide directions to the other two. One person had the use of their right hand and the other the use of their left hand. There were two teams and they had 3-5 minutes to design and build a card. They had to work together to cut, open ink pads, stamp, etc. The group then judged the best card.
I just can't do the running and such. I don't have any problem with the ideas you guys came up with . I just was wondering about doing a few things low keyed for people who have disabilities that's all. Like I said I could be a judge if you like. I am so excited about being a part of this. I am so glad to be a part of this group you guys are great.

We weren't offended by your idea. It's a great one. I want everyone to have a good time. So making some of the games less phisical is a well rounded option. I'm not exactly up for running a mile myself! lol By the way, I notice your from Paragould Arkansas. We have to talk. My grandfathers family is from there. their name is Brigman. I'll PM you later this week.

These ideas just keep getting better. Stampin Olympics is going to be crazy fun! Sorry, I have nothing else to share at the moment. I have VSBN on the brain!

Oh, How about an event that is close to home also in my house called "hide the stamp order from my husband" or "stamping before the baby wakes up from his nap" or a personal favorite "stamping while getting interrupted every 10 minutes and answering questions from my 6 year-old"
Ok so they aren't Olympic games but I still think motherhood should be an Olympic sport???!!
How about doing cards in Olympic game sports -- skiing, skating, like someone said, equestrian?
OR how about breaking people up into teams of different countries (one group of USA, one Russia, etc. )and they compete for prizes making cards or other things by coming up with creative ways to use a stamp set, creative use of color, etc.
OOOH! Prizes could consist of items from the metallic line - SU has copper (use for bronze), silver and gold c/s, paper, EP and ink pads!
