For single stamps I sort them by theme. I than store them in an over the door shoe holder. It has plastic pouches so you can see everything in there. THe best part it was only about 6 bucks at WM.
For my SU sets I store them in Sterlite plastic drawers.
For clear or unmounted stamps I store them in plastic CD cases.

Majority of my stamps are unmounted so it's CD cases for me, stacked 2 deep on 12" open shelving in the craft room. For those stamps that will remain wood mounted, placed one in front of the other on the shelving in rows.

I store my stamps in large Iris carts. Each drawer is a subject (birthday, friends, people, oldies/babies, southwest, flowers, trees, etc. Usually I don't keep the stamps in their original sets. For example, if a set has Thank You, a bunny, and a butterfly - Thank You is in the thank you drawer, butterfly is with insects/flutterbys, and the bunny is in the warm fuzzy/critter drawer. I also have a drawer for combined items. Sometimes I want to keep the set together, like the SU! Loads of Love (the pick-up truck with all the little pieces).
Inside the drawers are SU! storage boxes that have the images that are similar. Butterflys are in stored together, bunnies together, etc. I have so many stamps that I have several boxes of each.
Large stamps are in the bottom of the drawer with the boxes on top. When I want something I can go to the drawer and shop through my stamps and I only have to lift out the top one or two layers of boxes to see what is on the bottom.
I have my unmounteds in CD cases stored in the drawers with the wood mounted stamps. Having everything in one place keeps me from forgetting what I have.
I have my SU & TAC sets in CD cases. I keep my CTMH acrylics in the storage boxes that I purchased from CTMH.
For my loose wood mount stamps... I use acrylic picture frames. I stack two to three frames on top of each other and I store those by company (House Mouse, Penny Black, Inky Antics... etc). ;)
Most all of my stamps are acrylic, or unmounted and are in cd cases. But the wood ones that I have are on the wall. I attached pieces of metal roof edging with screws to the wall. 10 foot piece at home improvement places run less than 2 buck!
I store mine in a rigid clear acrylic box that is 4" x 6" and had a 1/4 lip inside on each side. My partners liked them so much we added them to our Flourishes webstore..you can take a look at them by linking to our member forum. I am in the process of unmounting all my wood mounted stamps and adding cling ....these also fit in the clear storage boxes.

Friends are like the walls of a house. Sometimes they hold you up, sometimes you lean on them. But sometimes, it's enough to know they're just standing by.
Question to those who store their stamps on the wall or not in sealed containers out of the light: don't your stamps dry out? I used to have mine on the wall and the ones I didn't use often got hard. How come your don't dry out, maybe it has to do with how much humidity in your area.
I have a stamp cabinet that holds about 2000. They're in boxes and clear acrylic trays. Then I have a closet wall unit that has them stacked by category (holidays, sayings, animal/nature, etc) I also have a cd rack for my unmounted on the wall.
I start with a bound book that has blank pages. I divded this book into categories( floral, Birthday, Christmas, sayings, Hallowwen, Fall etc) I stamped each SU stamp set in the correct category. After stamping, I put name of set and and numbered the set and recorded it by index. I put that number on each stamp in the set, and on clear storage box it came in. I did this for all my sets. I stored the numbered sets in Sterlite drawer units with the set number recorded on outside. If I want a Floral stamp,( for example) I look in book under floral, find the set and find it in correctly numbered drawer. This makes it easier to put stamps back after stamp camps when using a lot of different sets. when I get new sets I add it ito the correct category.
I store mine, unmounted, in 6x9 envelopes in Iris Carts. I have them sorted by subject i.e. flowers, leaves, animals etc. and each image is stamped on the envelope for easy reference. I also keep a notebook of all of the stamp images, again sorted by category. This way I only have to browse through my book for inspiration and I can find the stamps that I want to use immediately. This method provides great organization and most of all...... saves space so that I can constantly add more to my collection!
I actually have mine in two dressers 2 deep in each drawer. I am in the proces of peeling them off the wood and spraying them so they cling. I have a smaller house, and I have other things that I do besides stamping. So, I need the space. I don't plan on becoming a demo anytime soon, so I need to save space and this is the best way to do it. Plus, one cool thing about being able to add cling to the backs, is that I have mine alphabetically in binders. I can take my whole collection of stamps with me wherever I go to stamp, and I won't be mad when I "forget" a stamp set that I wanted to use.
For individual stamps, I've purchased jewelry display trays - black plastic that normally have foam rubber in them with slits for rings. Buy them without the foam insert and they are the perfect height of wood-mounted stamps. They are very cheap and stack on top of each other for easy storage.
I just went through the process of converting all of my wood mounted stamps to creative cling. I contemplated how to store them for a while, then my hubby showed me how secure they were attached to the lids of the origional cases (stampin up etc.). So, I cut the lids off & attached all of the stamps to the lids. MAN, do I have way more space to grow now!
Hi, a couple of you have mentioned ring binders for storing clear stamps. What do you stick them on/in? Don't they fall off?? I would love to see some pics of the binders!

I just use plain old 3-ring binders. I divide the stamps by subject, stamp each UM on a page labeled by subject, and then put the stamps behind that page in a clear page protector. To keep them in the page protector, I stick them on a piece of plastic. (I'm totally cheap, and use plastic report covers and similar things from the office supply department, cut to fit into the page protector). Some of my UMs are on cling, some have Tack-it-Over&Over on them -- and they both will stick to the plastic sheet. I use poster tape to hold the UMs I haven't put tacky stuff on yet.
Not the most sophisticated system, for sure, but it works for me. I can find what I need when I need it.
What do you spray them with to make them cling? I've looked at EZMount, but it's so expensive.
EZ Mount is expensive, but it works well. I have it on some stamps. It does make your stamps very thick, however, and since I keep mine in 3-ring binders, that's an issue.
I also use Aleen's Tack It Over & Over on some UMs (it's like a repositional glue. You just put in on the back of the stamp, let it dry, and you can use it over and over).
You can also use Scotch Poster Tape, which will last for several times. (I just put it on the acrylic block and change it out when needed, for stamps I haven't tacky'ed up yet)

I didn't have time to read all the answers, but I started out with storing my wood mounted stamps in serving trays that have sides on them. Used to get them at bed, bath and beyond or container store they stack nicely- can't find them anymore.
now unless u.m., I have mostly stampin up which I still leave unmounted, but keep in the plastic boxes, 2 similar sets per box if they fit, go on a bookshelf. Ginny

Thanks for the great info. I started stamping as the clear stamps appeared on the market, although they were slow at first and I bought many mounted stamps. I quickly realised that storage was going to be a major problem (I just don't have the space) and made a conscious decision to stay with the clear stamps purely on this basis (although I do fall off the wagon occasionally when I see a wow stamp, more often the collage stamps). I have tried various attempts at organising them, but usually make it so complicated, it all falls apart I am a visual person and I like the idea of putting them in binders and browsing them.
I have my Stampin' Up! sets in bathroom wall cabinets that I purchased from IKEA. They are called Vattern-Moren. I have more pics of them on my blog if you'd like to see them. My unmounted stamps are in CD cases in the boxes pictured in the attachment (also from IKEA!).
My DH custom built me a rack for the wall like they have in scrapbook stores. It is about 4 ft x 5ft with 5 shelves at varing heights. I love it and I can display them all so I can see what ones I have.
Most of mine are unmounted, so I use the 3 ring binder system, with photo pocket pages. Just slip them in. Use either poster tape on acrylic blocks or "Poster & Picture Stick" (comes in a stick like stick glue) Temporarily sticks your stamp to the block and washes right off when you clean the stamp. - Have them according to company but really need to rearrange according to subject. - The wood mounts I have are in acrylic picture frame trays slid into a wooden 8 track tape holder mounted on the wall. - When traveling I take the wood stamps in plastic shoe boxes and just take the binders I want.

I use divides sheet protectors available at Staples for around $3/10pack. I use the Baseball card size for storing my clear dollar sets, the 4x6 for clear inkadinkado sets and I found 5x7 recipe ones that fit my Inqur Boutique sets perfectly. I have thousands of stamps in 5 binders, It's awesome! (And Cheap!)
I found a bunch of 8 1/2 x 11 paper trays at a garage sale and stamp store cheap so I have them piled up and keep 4-6 SU sets on each, I keep the individual stamps in pencil cases by category that I buy on sale at Target during back to school time.
It is not perfect but it is easy!
I also have a "book" with all the stamp sets stamped in it by category, that way I can find all the stamps I want without opening anything.
I found that I like additional stickers on the SU boxes - I have flower stickers for floral, alphabet for ones with phrases, santa for Christmas, turkey for thanksgiving. When we were in a group that only used current SU sets I also put another sticker on all the ones that were not in the book anylonger.

Hi Everyone;
My first time on here.....
My wonderful husband measured and planned and cut and built cabinets that include a set of 22 drawers specifically for stamps. They are fairly shallow. My agreement with him is that when they are full (NOW) I will get rid of stamps I don't use before I acquire more (yeah, right....)
