Default Stampin on Cookies......Christmas Cookie Exchange

I have been asked to participate in a Christmas Cookie Exchange (which I have never done). It is going to be a contest (1) best decorated cookie (2) best cookie presentation, and (3) best presentation of yourself--the cookie maker. I hate things like this because it is a challenge, and I take it way too seriously .

Anyway, everyone knows me as a stamper, and I have to WOW them with the fact that cookies can be stamped on. Unfortunately, I don't know how to do it. HELP!! I would appreciate any help you can offer. Right now I am thinking of a snowflake theme, but I am open for suggestions.

Is there a certain frosting to buy?

What is the step by step process?

How do you clean your stamps after stamping on food?

Please please help me. I NEED to do this!!!

Thanks a lot,
Rachel

Default RE: Cookie exchange

I saw Carol Duvall do this very thing on her show. This woman stamped onto cookies and then used the same stamp to make a matching card. Now the instructions were you had to have two of the same stamp. One for use with stampin inks and the other for food coloring. It was not recommended to use stamps that had already been used with stampin ink. A new stamp would work. Anyway, in the show she used an unmounted stamp but you could probably use one already mounted. She used a brayer which hasn't been used with stampin inks, and rolled the food coloring on the stamp. If you want different colors they do make food coloring pens which should work the same way markers do. Of course you have your dough ready and stamp your rolled dough, cut out and bake. You might want to check the carol duval website, they may have the show's instructions on there.

Hope this helps.

I haven't tried it, but when I was in Michael's this weekend, I noticed that they had special cookie stamps to be use with a special ink (frosting) to stamp onto fondant. Looked really cool.

Default Cookie Exchange

I too am invited to a cookie exchange for 6 dozens cookies. I have read about stamping on cookies with the fondant and would love to try this. Has anyone ever eaten one of these cookies with the fondant? Are the cookies any good or do they just present well?

Someone in my downline team did this for a card swap day. She used Festive Four, the Jack O Lantern.
She explained to use outline stamps and then color in with food safe markers. She got them at the local school supply store. I saw some at Michaels during Halloween clearance but I didn't want just black and orange. She reccomended using the fine tip markers. they come in more than one size.
Here are a couple sites I found the markers at.

Default Stamping cookies

I've been experimenting with this myself. I bought a set of edible markers at Cost Plus World Market (around $9 for 8 markers). The trick is having a smooth surface to stamp on. I made my icing a tad more creamy than usual so after icing the cookie, the icing would level itself. Then I put the icing in the fridge to cool. Stamping the cookies was a piece of cake! Personally, I am not a fan of fondant. I think it is way too sweet and it overwhelms the thin cookie I use. Best of luck!

They have the food safe markers at my local cake decorating/baking supply store. Right next to them, they had an Inkworx Air Art gun, I couldn't believe it!!! It wasn't the same color as the one SU sold, but I bought it anyway! Good luck with them, I have some that my husband used to draw a certain Pokemon character for my son's birthday cake and they tasted fine and looked great!
