Default Stampin Mist ... allergies, anyone?

Just wondering if anyone has ever had any allergic, or allergy-type reactions from using Stampin' Mist?

I did a lot of stamping this weekend in a small room that has both a ceiling fan and a small, regular fan (hey, as someone else here likes to point out, it can get "freakishly hot" here in Texas! LOL) Anyway, my stampin' scrub kept drying out on me, so I ended up having to re-spray the mist several times. After several hours I noticed that my nose was getting runny, throat was sore, and head was starting to hurt.

Just wondering if anyone else has had problems, or if I'm the only odd one.

Also, if you don't use the Stampin Mist to clean your stamps, what do you use?

Thanks in advance!!

Yes, I get reactions from it, too. I get the stuffy nose routine but also really bad migraines from flowery smells and that is one of the worst (it's worse than most perfumes.) I was stamping the other day and grabbed the Stampin' Mist, not paying attention. Of course, your finger squirts 3 times before your brain registers, "Hey, dummy!" I've tried one other cleaner, although it wasn't as bad, it's affects me as well.

I now just use plain water and occasionally dish soap for stubborn cleaning. Then I condition the stamps with Versamark.

I just used a damp washcloth for awhile, but now do use the S. Mist without problem. But there are cleaners that come with a roll-on, not sure if those might be better? A friend had one, not sure of the name, but she just used that.

There is a sponge tip cleaner by stazon - since we sell stazon ink might me a good investment. I can't find mine right now to see if there is a scent but I don't remember it smelling flowery.... What about baby wipes - unscented of course.

Good luck!

My Stazon cleaner is scent free! and I love it. I did find the mist a little too perfumey for my nose.

I can't stand to be around Stampin' Mist. Horrible smell and makes my nose stuffy. I use something by JudiKins called (I think) Stamp Cleaner and it's like a bingo dauber. I just spread some on the stamp or the pad and it works great. HTH

Default Thanks!!!

Just wanted to say thank you so much to all who replied. It's nice to know that my nose isn't the only one affected negatively by the SM cleaner. I hate to get rid of the rest of it, but also can't see continuing to use it if it is making me feel icky.

I'm going to give it one more try (no, I'm not a glutton for punishment, just going to test my 'theory'...). If I have problems the next time I use it, guess I'll just have to 'donate' it to my demo and start using something else.

Again, thanks everyone! Have a great (and allergy-free) week!

What about putting the SU Mist in a sponge dauber bottle - I think I've seen those around. Perhaps it won't bother you so badly if it's not floating in the air. Then at least you won't be throwing it away.

Perhaps diluting it 50% with water would cut down on the strong fragrance and the bonus is that it lasts much longer. Personally I've noticed a big difference in the fragrance recently from what I used to have. The "old" stuff I had smelled like rose to me. It reminded me of the lotion called Rose Milk years and years ago. This "recent" stuff smells like fancy toilet paper (no offense anyone)....and I don't care for it. At first I thought I got a bad batch and returned it to SU and got the same thing back. Guess they thought I was a dope. I have asthma and allergies so I try to watch strong perfumes. Watering it down seems to help a lot! I even keep a separate water spray bottle and keep refreshing the stamp and scrub to keep it wet.

I have a friend/customer who is also very allergic. She uses a similar spray cleaner that she gets at Hobby Lobby. I don't know who makes it, but it's bubblegum scented. It doesn't bother her at all. HTH!

I use baby wipes (unscented) & a sure-line pad to dry and clean any residue. The sure-line pad is available at most hardware stores, it's in the paint department. (it's the paint pad you would use for around doors and mouldings). The fabric is almost the same as the SU pad, and it's sooo much cheaper!
