Question Stampin Spot Help

I bought all 4 sets of the stampin spots and I absolutly love them. The only downside I have found is that I can't watercolor with them because the lid isn't close enough to the ink that I can ink the top.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can watercolor with my spots? I only have about 4 full size pads and I really don't want to get any more -- but I love watercoloring.

TIA!!

have you tried getting your brush really wet and the dabbing in the ink? you could also "squish" the pad onto something else that's plastic or glass to get a little pool of color? I haven't tried either of these....just brainstorming for you.

Good luck!

That's a good suggestion... I'll try that. I tried putting it on glossy paper and that kind of worked - but the color was a little faded ...

I guess I just thought that you shouldn't put the brush right up to the color. I thought I would ruin my brushes.

Do you have any old/bad CDs or DVDs? You can stamp onto them and the ink will pool up and you can use this to watercolor.

I just dab the spot on a stamp case. THen I can pick up the color with my aquapainter or blender pen.

Never tried it but maybe you could get a window sheet (or anything that would get ink on it and NOT absorb it) and press it on top of the spot to get ink on then you could paint with it. Hope you a good solution!

You can take the lid off of one of your saved butter tubs (you do save those, right? ;) ) and just smoosh the ink onto the plastic lid.

You can also do it on plastic wrap. Then, after you've got some colors on there, spray it with water, crumple, open (ink-side up) and lay your glossy down on it. Voila! Background paper!

What has worked great for me (recommended by my demo) is to use a Corelle plate. I just press down a couple of times on the plate with the spot and it gives me the right amount of ink. The plates are super easy to clean too. I can easily wipe it clean with a baby wipe if I need a quick clean - even just a wet towel works.

I got mine individually at my local Wally World.

I use a plastic ruler. It's one of the little 6 inch ones, so it's easy to take with me. I stamp in the darndest places. It's a great way to get others interested.

I use a plastic foam plate and my aquapainter. You can get quite a few colors around the edges and in the middle. Just push the pad against it.When I'm done I can either throw it away or wipe it with a paper towel.

These are all great ideas -- thank you so much!! I was thinking I was going to have to give up my watercoloring!

This is what I do and then just put it in the dishwasher with the other dirty dishes.

I used to do this kind of thing with my Stampin Spots, just keep in mind that since the spots are so small it will dry them out quicker than you think. I finally splurged on the reinkers and now use them.

I also use the styrofoam plates ... you can either pitch them when finished or wipe them off. You could also use the styrofoam that ground meat, chicken, etc. is pacakged in!!!

Even though it's been said before, I'll say it again. Use an old CD! It's the best, with a watercolour brush or blender pen - whatever you like.

I use blank tiles. You can get them at Home Depot for next to nothing. If you can have one tile per colour family...just make sure they are dry before putting them away (this can take a while).
