Default Stamping/Embellishing Cocktail Napkins

I'm hosting a baby shower for a close friend next week. I found the cutest pattern for plates, cups and luncheon napkins. Unfortunately, all they had for cocktail napkins were solid colors. Now I'm wondering how I can "dress them up". I thought about maybe heat embossing them with the letter "H" because her baby's name will be Hannah. My fear is that the paper is so thin I'll burn it trying to heat emboss. Have any of you ever decorated napkins and if so, what worked for you? Do you have pictures of your finished product?

Thanks so much!

I'd probably use VersaCraft or SU! Craft Ink, and allow to air dry, and then possibly heat set with an iron quickly? I'm afraid you'd end up scorching the paper napkins if you tried to heat emboss, cuz they're so delicate/thin? That doesn't mean you couldn't experiment, tho.

Another thing to remember is that the embossing will probably crack and possibly pop off, if the napkin is folded, crumpled in the hand, etc. . . .

You could use a metallic pigment ink, but, a lot of times, the metallic rubs off and could end up on someone's face, etc.

You might also try Versamagic Chalk Ink--it's fairly quick drying, and doesn't "feather" like Colorbox Chalk Ink would (which is supposed to feather because it's chalk-like, UKWIM? ;) )

Good luck!

I've successfully used Staz On to stamp napkins!

Hmm.....I didn't know there was such a thing as Versamagic Chalk ink. I'll have to make a quick trip to my LSS since the shower is coming up so soon. I have Cat's Eyes, so pigment ink is covered. I think I'll pick up a Versamagic Chalk and maybe a Staz-On and then try a bunch of techniques to see what works best. If the napkins turn out reasonably well, I'll post a pic. Thanks for the ideas ladies!

I embossed some paper napkins a while back. It was annoying and time consuming and not worth it at all. No one even noticed it. Plus you have to make sure you don't heat too much or you will scorch the napkin. Good luck.

I stamped napkins for a bridal shower. Hot pink napkins with Palette Hybrid Noir ink. Thankfully the brides colors were hot pink and black! It was SUPER easy, took a VERY light touch, and I stamped about 100 napkins in only about 20 minutes.

Instead of stamping the napkins, why not make little stamped napkin holders? Someone on SCS had posted those recently, I'll see if I can find that link, might have put it in my faves.

I bet she LOVED these! You just can't go wrong with those Bellas. I don't have any of them yet, but if I keep seeing posts like this, I'm not going to be able to hold out much longer.
