Default Stamping stuff available down under??

Okay, I know this question will be aimed at a very limited # of people, but I'm hoping that there are at least a few stamping and scrapping Kiwis and Aussies out there who might see this and help me out here ...

I'm finally packing up and heading back down to New Zealand after 12 years in the US and I'm panicking that I won't be able to get the stuff that I've been used to just popping down the road for. Obviously I'm very upset about not having SU down there yet (I'm harrassing SU every chance I get about that), but apart from that, what are the things that you don't get down under that you see in the American magazines, etc that you would love to be able to get your hands on but just don't see down under yet or that are really expensive there?

I'm hoping that by stocking up ahead of time I might not kick myself too much later on!

Thanks heaps!

I don't have any hands on experience, but my local stamp store carries an Australian stamp magazine (Australian Paper Crafts) and the articles and stamps seem to be of comparable range to the US. It lists distributors in New Zealand and, of course, Australia, so you just might be in luck. Check out the publisher's website (http://pridepublishing.com.au/subscribe_apc.html) to see what you think.

Hopefully others on the board will be more helpful.

Thanks Debi - I didn't think about checking out if there were specific magazines for down under. I'm going to have to go and check this out!

Hi Stampin Kiwi, well we have been in Australia for about 7 weeks now and we have decided to probably go home to California in about a month after all. So I can tell you first hand since I'm presently in your situation. You don't have to worry about not being able to get anything as you can get most things online. There are a few companies that won't ship overseas so find a friend who wouldn't mind if you used her address and have her mail over to you what companies won't send. One of the best things to buy ahead of time are power converters!! If you have any questions, feel free to PM me. Have fun packing - I'd gladly move home to NZ but DH is a surfer and wants the warm water, however I miss my family and would move to Christchurch in a shot! Take care.

Hi Stampin' Kiwi,

I'm in Australia and can get pretty much anything. I know there's stamping shops in NZ and there's a new one opening soon.

Here's the info that was e-mailed to me:

WendyP Crafts
734 Pollen Street, Thames
Ph : 07 868 7099
07 868 8693 (a/h)

Providing supplies & classes for all your papercrafting needs,
Including :
Rubber Stamping
Scrapbooking
Card making
Altered books
and more

STORE OPENING 10TH FEBRUARY 2006

There's also stores in Hastings, Nelson, and two in North Harbour which is in Auckland. I'm sure there's more but they're just the one's that I could locate quickly. There's heaps of Australian on-line stores, here's a nice one that's new: www.thestampingqueen.com.au

Hope this helps.

BTW, I'm not affiliated with any of these shops... I hope it's okay to post this information.

Stampin' Up! is going to be expanding into Australia!! It was announced at leadership a few weeks ago. It will be sometime in the Spring (Fall there), and we should have more details in the months ahead. This might be a great chance for you to get in on the ground floor and make some $$!

I wish I could sign up in Australia, but we're going to New Zealand and when I asked SU yesterday they said they had no plans to go to NZ right now. Oh, and by the way, but moving to NZ I also lose the downline that I have worked so hard to build up. So I'm really not a happy camper right now, but at least I get to home - with or without SU!!

Yippee!!!
