I'm having a stamp camp on Sunday and can't figure out how to color the image on the tile. I stamped with black Staz On but irt need a little color.
Please help
You can color it in with Sharpie markers or chalks (make sure you seal it when you are done if you use chalks!). I'm sure other people will come up with something else, but that's what I've done!

Sharpie markers & maybe regular markers = either one you use you will have to seal it with a clear aerosol sealer. The one I have is KRYLON Matte Finish, Clear. # on the container is 1311.

I just did a practice tile the other day in preparation to make a coaster set. I used the black stazzon and then colored with pastels, from which I got a pretty vivid color. Sealed with Krylon Matte Finish and it's perfect! All it needs are felt feet!
We made coasters on the tumbled marble tiles at my last stamp camp and we used staz-on ink to stamp the image and then colored in with the Colorbox petal point chalk pads (liquid chalk) with sponges and q-tips for detail. When we were finished we sealed with a matte acrylic spray. They turned out beautiful! I think that you can also use the craft ink to color in the image.
We have done the tumbled marble coasters simply by stamping off once with the regular SU ink pads. By stamping off once the inks don't bleed. It does give it a more subtle effect though. Also finished with a matte acrylic sealer.
I have a question about using an acrylic sealer... does it take away from the absorbancy of the tile, which is the reason to use them as a coaster?

I did a couple sets of the tumbled marble tiles for Christmas and I stamped my image with stazon, then colored in the images with EK Success Memory Pencils. The pencils are permanent, so no need to seal. They turned out great and the colors have not run or faded with daily use. HTH!
i have a question first where do i get the tumbled marble tiles from and can you use tiles from like a hardware store or does it have to be the tumbled marble tiles i have never done this before but i would love to try it. thanks in advance
I have a question about using an acrylic sealer... does it take away from the absorbancy of the tile, which is the reason to use them as a coaster?

We just lightly sprayed the acrylic spray, we did not spray it on thick and it didn't seem to change the absorbancy. Although, I know that now you can purchase colored sharpies and then you would not have to seal it. The only reason for sealing is so that the color does not run or fade with the liquid chalk.
Hi Ladies
MY hubby bought me some tiles for coasters. I sanded them a bit and stamped them. I didn't have any stayzon so I used something called VersaColor, which is a pigment ink. The lady at the store said it was permanent. So far, I have baked them for 30 minutes at 350* and they still smeared. So I cleaned the tiles off and re-stamped them. Baked them at 400* for an hour, left them out in the sun all day today, and they are still smearing. How long am I supposed to let them dry? If I spray them now with a sealer, will that stop the smearing? And if I do spray them now, will I be able to color them in a bit after? Please help, they are supposed to be a gift and I'm running out of time. Oh and by the way, this is the first time I've done these and I'm just going by the instructions I've read on this site. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

We recently did coasters for a stamp club. All we did was stamp the image with staz on, we used several colors and all the coloring we did was with Sharpies. I have been using the tiles with drinks on them for about a month and nothing has smeared at all. We did not seal the tiles with anything or bake them as this will make them not absorb the sweat from your glass. I live in a very humid area where glasses sweat even inside in the 70' AC.
There are about 30 different colors of Sharpies and we stamped flowers and lighthouses and several other designs and we had a Sharpie marker color for every stamp we used, they coordinated very well!
For some we used the big flower in the Looks Like Spring set and just used Staz On ink in Very Cherry and the blue one (can't remember) and they are being used too with no smearing. And we didnt bake them either.

My demo had us stamp the images with staz on and then LIGHTLY pounce on additional staz on colors with sponges. But if you're demo-ing, it's kind of a bummer that SU doesn't carry all those Staz on colors anymore.
