Default Staples as Embellishments

Am I the only one who doesn't like the look of ribbon stapled on a card? :?

I don't like staples on a card either. Kind of looks like you ran out of supplies and needed a quick way to adhere it. Perhaps I just haven't seen cute and creative uses yet.

I bought different colored staples and haven't used them yet. I thought it might be cute too but I haven't seen anything I have liked yet. I may just used them for the car and motorcycle sets. They might make something look a little more "rugged".

staples remind me too much of work and those thousands of papers I've had to staple together, the staples being jammed in the copier or stapler, the times I have accidentally stapled myself    so...I don't think I will be using them, but I never say never!

Yuck - I absolutely think it has gone too far - staples make cards look terrible IMO and for someone who is not a crafter, I think their opinion would be stronger than mine - please, please don't encourage this new trend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't even staple matchbooks, I use a nice shineeey brad - staples look like you couldn't be bothered IMO.

Wow, I'm so glad I'm not alone! Staples are probably the ONLY embellishment that I don't own....and usually I buy everything and jump on every bandwagon I can! For some reason, the staples, even if they are colored, just look out of place to me. I'd be afraid that the recipient of my card wouldnt "get it". So I will never use 'em!

I felt the exact same way as you until I received this really cool calendar from stampinginsc. It totally changed my mind! Have you seen anything with staples in person? Maybe it was the way she combined them with the brad and the metal alpha letter on a ring. But now I love them!

I used to not like them much, either, but I have seen a lot of things I like using them now. Maybe the look has just grown on me.

I've seen many examples using staples but don't think I'll ever like them. While the cards that have them have been very nice and the creator has taken time to complete their card I fail to see the "art" in staples and don't understand why anyone would want to use them. Sorry JMHO.

Well, I guess it's all about taste. I'm not so fond of cool cat, but I know that it is the most popular set in the spring mini. I think that the variety of taste is what makes the world fun. If we all liked the same thing, there would be no variety. I like staples, but it did take some time to grow on me.

THANK GOODNESS!!! I felt like I was taking crazy pills! I couldn't figure out why this was such a big new thing... I agree that it tends to look like someone just ran out of the appropriate adhesive Phew... glad it is not just me! Although, I'm sure I do things that people think are a little strange too... to each his own!

Are staples stainless steel? I have seen a few samples of staples being used in and on scrapbook pages. I do not think this is a good idea. Rust from a staples feaks me out!!

I lopve the look of staples!
After all, they are just office supplies, no different than brads or clips. JMO

I agree - thought I was just missing something. I bought the staples but haven't used them. Just haven't thought the look was so great!

I look at staples as trend in stamping, and just like fashion trends, some that I originally thought
-yuk! no way- become -hmmm- to -ok, I think I like it-
to -hey, I do like it, I'm gonna try it-

Capri pants come to mind.

And I'm not saying which stage I'm in with the staples.

Default love em, love em, love em!!

I love staples - ESPECIALLY when used to attach ribbon to a card! Metal is all the rage and that is just another cute way to do it. I love that you can attach a little scrap of ribbon without making that knot - the knot can really cause problems when going to mail - I have even been charged extra for that pouffy little knot!

I agree with a former poster - no different than other office supplies like brads - or hey, metal tags - didn't those start in the office supply section as price tags on items for sale??

It really is all about your own specific wants and taste's. I'm sure there are lots of stamp sets I could list that I truly HATE and people would say how much they love 'em! If you don't like 'em - don't buy 'em - don't use 'em!! But thanks to whoever brought staples to this site because I am hooked!

I thought they were odd looking at first, but they are definatly growing on me.......when I was at Staples the other day I broke down and bought a little mini stapler to keep in my craft room.....it was just too cute to pass up (it uses regular size staples but it came with these really pretty metalic blue ones).

Wow. I thought it was just my campers! I love the way they add to the shabby chic look, but any time I used them my ladies would ask for some other type of attachment - thank goodness my hostesses are the type that share their supplies! Needless to say, I no longer use them in my camps but do for my personal stuff

I feel that the staples especially in scrapbooks will rust! I do not like th looks of the staples. They make the project look cheap.

I'm not too worried about staples rusting. I've never seen a rusted staple and I've looked through old papers that were stapled. I'm not going to be leaving my scrapbooks out in the rain afterall.

I used staples for the first time last week and I'm kind of liking them now. I think I see a stamping phase starting for me. I found some cool metalic ones at my dollar store. Yeah!
