Default The Step Child of Christmas - THANKSGIVING!

Poor Thanksgiving! We get so busy by October working on Christmas stuff that often Thanksgiving is completely overlooked!
I happen to LOVE Thanksgiving because it's the only holiday that we do in my house with both sides of the family so it's sort of my big yearly "do". (Also, Black Friday is my favorite day of the year so there! lol)

I am looking for some ideas on Thanksgiving decor, centerpieces, napkin rings, etc. I would consider place cards, too. Show me your fab Thanksgiving stuff!! :-)

Thank you!!

(PS - I don't usually post for things like this but when I search the gallery for Thanksgiving, I get mostly cards and I'm not doing Turkey Day cards this year. I'll be happy to just get Christmas cards done in time. lol)

There are some ideas (including mine) on this Thanksgiving thread.

Be sure to come back and post what you decided to do, so we can admire your projects!

I so agree with you, Sophia. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. Christmas is running to different houses and not as fun as the big sit down dinner we do for Thanksgiving. I haven't had Thanksgiving at my house in a few years, but I get to this year!

I made these placecards a couple of years back:

TLC90 T-Giving Name Card by Toy at Splitcoaststampers

They were really fun as it was mostly punchwork. I look forward to seeing what others are doing this year as I haven't even started on my decorations!!

Hugs!

Thanks for the links! The other Thanksgiving had less posts than this one. lol I guess poor Thanksgiving IS the ugly step child of Christmas! lol

I love those scalloped feathered turkeys but I don't have punches (I use the Cricut, and hand cut the scallops from a corner rounder).

Thanks, everyone for the input!

I forgot Thanksgiving was even a holiday anymore. We don't do much and it's like a bump in the road to Christmas. I am the official Scrooge of Thanksgiving, I guess. Bah humbug to Butterball, green bean casserole and football. (I do like the break from school!)
Have a nice Turkey day to all those cooking, eating and enjoying family get-togethers.

I'm with you - Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. I think perhaps it is because it is probably the least commercialized. And then it focuses on thankfulness rather than greed (one aspect of Christmas that bugs me to death) and FOOD and FAMILY!!!

I do not have any nifty projects that I have done. Unfortunately since Thanksgiving has been turned over to me (this will be my second year to host), I have also had a J.O.B. (a paying one at night in addition to the other job of homeschooling my teenage daughters), so time for craftiness is slim to none. I have enjoyed the ideas mentioned in this thread, though, and will be watching to see what else gets posted. Perhaps I can carve out a little time to do SOMETHING! In addition to COOK!

I love Thanksgiving, too! I'm making cards this year, but only my kids have done crafts so far. I hope you get lots of ideas!

I LOVE Thanksgiving....(I have a co worker that continually reports all the things we did to the American Indians so how could I love it?).

We celebrate being Thankful. We spend the time appreciating each other and telling each other so.

I realize the early days of America were rougher than rough. But I could either be mad and eat a pizza--- or welcome my family and friends and enjoy each other??
Not a big decision to make.

I love there is no pressure of gifts, no obligations...you do what you choose to do....have fun and enjoy. Better than any holiday, in my opinion.
