I think SU went to two cattys so that they could get another $10 out of us. I prefer the old way. I also haven't been liking their stuff as much lately. So many flowers and really, how many flower stamps does a girl need?
This is a tough one for me - I would prefer one catalog per year from an environmental standpoint...it would reduce costs, too and I'd like to believe SU! could pass those savings along to customers (like me!).
On the other hand, I like the excitement of the new catalog - twice a year instead of just once.
I hemmed and hawed and finally just voted for two.
Here in the Land Down Under (Australia) we only get one catty plus up to 4 mini's. I think this is both environmentally friendly and economy friendly too.
It gives us a whole year to look, enjoy, decide, change our minds, change our minds again, what more, work harder to get more over the whole year and still enjoy what can be offered through the mini's. Plus's all round IMHO.

I prefer 1 catty and the minis. I've been a SU! customer for years and last year signed on as a demo and I still like just one catty. I think that SU thought that they would generate a lot of interest in new sales in the winter/spring by having the excitement we showed when the new catalog was released. But a new catty twice a year doesn't seem generate the same amount of new interest. All it does for me is mean that I can't get some of the stamps I wanted because there isn't enough time to save for what I want. I hope they go back to the old format.
I would definately love to have just one catty and 4 minis again. In this day and age of waste, we have to compromise somewhere. After all we sure use enough paper and other products that are for fun. People are not buying two cattys a year because they can't afford it and where are all these extra cattys going? Save the paper, the cost and confusion. JMO

I completely aggree with you! I so wish they would go back to 1 catty
I think if we are going to have 2 catalogs per year than we should get them cheaper. Look at how much you have to sell before they are paid off. I know we can charge our customers for them, but if they don't have a catalog how can they purchase anything? And yes it makes a great resource for the customers for ideas, but how many times when u go to a party are u asked to purchase the catalog for future buying. Again I think we are selling their product we should see a little more return on our time and investment.
ONE!!!
One is easier for me. I look, I plan, I buy, takes me all year. I can plan ahead that way too. If I order Valetine stamps in January, my demo doesn't get them to me until the next month which is too late to send out Valentine cards. I prefer to have all the holiday stamps ready to purchase when I want them.
I voted for just one catalogue. I just think it made it more exciting to loook forward to. There were more changes to expect and the hostess sets only gave you six months to earn those. That can be hard when you are taking turns with friends to earn them.
My question is, Will stampinup see this or do they even care? Just curious.

I would prefer going back to one catty and maybe six minis. I like the minis and look forward to the new things, just not a huge catty change. And as for the dormant list, I've yet to figure out what or where it is. Help! But I must agree with others, either put it in the catalog or retire it. And two catties a year does make me spend more, it just frustrates me.
I also voted for one catalog and the 4 minis. I liked the minis and I think I spent more with that system. The main catalog always has tons of repeats from the previous catalog and the minis were fun to look forward to. I know I spent more with the four minis because of the urgency thing about whether they would be gone and not included in the next catalog. Plus, I feel bad for the demos having to buy cartons of catalogs twice a year and then ending up with leftover catties. I also don't like spending almost $20 a year just on catalogs!!! I would rather buy more stamps. JMO.
You said exactly what I would have said so "ditto" to you. At first I was excited but now it is overwhelming to me to keep up. I would bet I spent more with 1 catalog and the minis, like you said, what if they aren't in the catalog next year, I best get it now if I want it.
I haven't had to pay for a new catty, my demo sends us a free one I'm assuming if we make a list of sorts, not sure how she determines but this year I'm not so sure I made that list and or with many of us suffering from the economy, maybe that is not a bonus she can or will be offering this time around. So, I'd not like paying $20., either if I have to.
I like two catalogs but I think the timing is off for planning on holidays. Usually I start Valentines, Halloween and Christmas months in advance and the catalogues don't seem to match up with that by the time you order and receive the order and put it together etc etc etc. You get the picture. Too late.
I like one caddy a year. I mark what I want and it gives me a year to buy it before the next caddy comes out. When CTMH broke it out with many catalogs I lost tons of interest in them. I know it didn't change there products or anything it just changed how I shopped with them. Weird I know, but I like one a year.

I voted for one. Saves trees, saves costs (for SU as well as demos and customers!) and allows those of us strapped for cash to have a wish list that we know we can work from for a full year. The thing that really gets me, is the oddball release dates (the last half of January and after the ever changing convention dates?). January 1st and July 1st was much easier to keep in my head. Add to these dates, the mini catalogs you can order from and the preview catalogs that you can't. I gave up last year and never ordered from any of them and never even looked forward to seeing new catalogs.
I prefer one catalog with 4 minis per year. My DH and I moved to a much smaller house 3 years ago, and I went from having a separate hobby room to having all my stamping supplies in a guest bedroom. I am running out of space and don't have room to store 2 catalogs per year. I also don't like the dormant list-too much trouble to keep up with. I also think it is harder to budget your spending and also harder to earn hostess stamp sets with having 2 catalogs retiring each year. I hope SU sees this and goes back to just one catalog a year.
I voted for one catalog per year. I wouldn't mind two per year if they would actually change more stuff. I didn't count them, but when I went through this catty and marked the soon to retire sets, it felt like less than half which means half of the new catty will be the same old same old.
A few years ago, SU! had an extra scraping catalog twice a year, and that didn't last very long, so I'm hoping this 2 main catalogs per year won't last much longer either.

I voted for one catty plus the minis, but what I would rather have is one catalog period. No minis no supplements. Its bad enough to have to buy the catty for $10 once a year, but two times a year? Thats a stamp set lol. I know I can download it but my eyes see it better IRL. If all the releases come out at once, I can plan my purchases better and then get better hostess sets. But thats just me....

My vote was for the two, reason .....I am saving tons of money and with today's economy that is not a bad thing. I haven't bought a stamp set yet from the two catty system. I talk myself into waiting to see if I like something better later with the other catty. So my vote would probably not make SU! happy.

I totally agree with you, campstamper03... one catty and SIX mini's... fun fun
I much prefer 1 catalog plus the minis. I spent more money that way and I really like having a year to get all I want out of the catalog. The 2 catalogs have really cut down my spending at SU
Interesting. I wonder if SU makes their decisions based on their current customers' preferences. Usually the goal of any changes in marketing is to gain new customers and to generate more sales.
The one thing I liked about the second catalog was seeing some new ideas for the old stamps. There was one set in particular that I had not noticed at all until the next catalog came out.
I spent way more money when SU had one catty and four minis. I was buying everything from the minis and never getting to the things I wanted from the catty.
As a soon-to-be demo (joining 2/1 to take advantage of SAB) I really am dreading 2 catties a year. I thought I'd like it as a customer but I DON'T. The thing that really gets me is that they retire so much of the DS paper!
I'm soooo sad about Summer Picnic retiring. I LOVE that paper and everything I've made with it has either sold or what I've given away as gift has gotten tons of compliments. I also wanted to do a Tart & Tangy workshop with it since it's so fun and summery and Wisconsin is so grey and wintery right now. Oh well I'm sure there will be pretty paper in the next catty but I'm still sad :(
Wow! I was really surprised by the poll results as well. I hope SU sees them.
I used to be thrilled when the new catty came out in July. Now I could care less. Two is just too much for me.

So was I. The results were similar in the same poll on the demo side, although the margin was not quite as great.
Please tell your demos if this is an issue for you (or any issue for that matter!)
Your demo and SU really do want to hear what you have to say. The customers are SU's greatest resource and your voice is important.
