We recently moved into a new house and all the walls are a lovely shade of boring blah....Am determined to start painting once the kiddos are back in school, but am having the hardest time finding the right colors. Wondering if anyone else has looked to their cardstock for inspiration.....
I just repainted. I have a Mellow Moss accent wall in my living room, the other walls are a light tan. My kitchen, computer room and master bedroom each have an accent wall of Longaberger Paprika red (no SU match to that!!). And my daughter's room is 3 walls Pixie Pink and one wall is a light purple that I haven't checked to see which it matches (prob. Lavender Lace or Orchid Opulence).
I have pumpkin pie in my family room, chocolate chip in the kitchen and green galore/pink passion in my daughter's room Very colorful home!
Do you feel the kitchen is too dark w/the Chocolate Chip in there? I'm in love with the idea of a chocolate room somewhere, but a little scared of it feeling too closed in. Have been toying with the idea of an "orangish" (yeah that's a technical term darnit!) kitchen too. Argh, never thought picking a color would be so hard!
My hall is close to cocoa, the kitchen is So Saffron, the living room is a little more red than Cranberry Crisp, hubby's office is Always Artichoke and a bathroom is Mellow Moss.
I currently have sheets of Cool Caribbean on a couple of walls in our bedroom to see if I like the color in there. I just used a swipe or two of repositional Mono on the back and stuck them to the walls. I try to put it on different walls so you can see how it looks in daylight and shadows. Much cheaper than buying a quart of paint to test on the walls.

You might want to consider a feature wall of colour like Brenda71 described a couple of posts back. I've never painted anyplace I've lived and usually have light neutral walls. Boring, but at least it reflects the light back. Our current place, on the other hand, has a large maroon office, a small handsome hunter green living room, and a tiny matching green hallway. All four walls of these rooms are painted dark colours, and with the terrible light fixtures the office feels like a big, windowless basement, and the living room and hallway feel like little caves. If they were instead painted with just one feature wall in the dark colour, and the rest of the walls a Going Grey, Close to Cocoa, or what have you, they would look phenomenal.
I'm not trying to hijack your thread; I just don't want you to hate your room after doing all the work of painting it. (And repainting over dark colours is expensive, too.)
My family room is Chocolate Chip and it looks fantastic...however it took a lot of courage to go for it. I am now trying to decide what color to paint the sunroom...yellow is too boring now that our family room is so edgy.
I have my front room with a light brown, almost Close to Cocoa, and then it has one accent wall in Chocolate Chip, and I love it! I took all my cardstock in that room and put it up against the wall and slowly picked out my fave's!

I chose my hobby/stampin' room wall colour from SU. I love Gable Green. I took it to four different paint stores before I found one with a really close match. I finally decided to go two shades lighter on the same paint sample, and it looks great- very cheery and yet calm.
Oh I'd love to have a River Rock room! I use my unfinished basement as my stamp area so it's a bit drab, I've taken to hanging pictures everywhere so that I feel I'm in a pretty place. It would be really neat to have one wall that was painted just for my SU business.
Chocolate Chip is my favorite brown ever and I'd love to see that as the accent wall in my kitchen.. oh the ideas. So for those of you who say your rooms are these colors, are they really? Did you take the paper in and have it matched or are they just similiar colors you found?

Thanks to everyone for the responses. Have all kinds of ideas churning in my head now...accent walls being a big one. Wonder how wacky my husband will think I am (or what kind of funky project I'm working on) when he walks in tomorrow and sees cardstock hung up all over the house!
So for those of you who say your rooms are these colors, are they really? Did you take the paper in and have it matched or are they just similiar colors you found?
Yes, I took a piece Mellow Moss cardstock into Wal-Mart. They have a computer that can color match. They need at least a 1 inch square or larger of the color.
Here's a pix of my Mellow Moss wall (sorry for the critters-I acquired those when I got married to a hunter!!):

Yes, I took a sheet of Pixie Pink with me to Home Depot and they matched it perfectly. Funny thing was, there was another demo right in front of me that day holding a sheet of Marigold Morning!
No pics, but my demo used many SU colors in her new home. What I saw in my two minute stop to pick up my catalog a couple weeks ago was wonderful. SU has some great colors and they look great on walls!
My entire house is plain jane "popcorn"--that's the name of the color...hubby is afraid of color. But...when my dd was born, I painted her room a perfect shade of certainly celery and stamped DD Bold Butterflies in Lovely Lilac and pixie pink all over the walls. I though DH was going to have a stroke when he first walked in. DS room is white on top with a navyish color on the bottom with a gray "road" stripe in the middle. Again DH thinks this is waaayyy too much color. I'd love, love, love a chocolate chip wall...*sniff, sniff*: :(
My youngest girls nursery was done in mellow moss with a ladybug theme.
We will be painiting the powder room in certainly celery.
Our kitchen is done in chocolate chip, we have very tall ceilings and it is very open with tons of windows, stainless appliances and light wood and counters. All of that counteracts the richness of the chocolate chip and it works really well....I LOVE it!
I am thinking of painting my oldest girls room in groovy guava, her new bedding has a touch of it in the pattern and I think it would be awesome!
My girls' room is: striped pretty in pink and barely banana. I went back later and painted butterflies in the pink border. I took the card stock with me to the paint center and color matched it.
our main bathroom which i call the kids bathroom is Only Orange and my new craft room which was my 15 yr old DD's room is 2 walls are almost Lav Lace and the other is a blue close tot he color of blordering blue, 1 wall in our living room is kinda a Rose Red. A few weeks ago was pointing it out to the family and they all thought i was nuts... I want to take a piece of CS to Home depot or paint store and get something to match Cool Carribean (most stores can do that now). It's funny how we look at things differently now that we are stampers.
See now everyone thinks my friend Donna & I are crazy for living life in SU colors! My living room is bliss blue (yeah, I painted it years ago), dining room is rose romance below the chair rail (ditto), upstairs bathroom is more mustard, and my craft room is bravo burgundy with an accent wall of creamy caramel. DH's study is sahara sand. The TV room is my favorite, but there really isn't an SU color comparison. What was I thinking? HA! I love color - glad to see there are others who do!

Our family room (pumpkin pie) is around 400 sq ft with 12 foot ceilings----lots of windows, wood floor and trim so I love it! I bought a plum couch and close to cocoa chairs. It is a bit wild, I guess but I was tired of beige.
As for the kitchen, we again, have 12 foot ceilings (old house) and the chocolate chip looks great against our cream cabinets. I have accented with a bright red and apple green. Again, I love it---not sure what others think but they all say it looks great! Good luck with your choices!
BTW, we are painting my sons room KELLY GREEN but BRIGHTER!!!!! with white trim and black accessories. His favorite soccer team is CELTIC FC out of Ireland so we are going for it. Not sure what it'll look like but his choice.
Our main floor bathroom is Not Quite Navy. Our lower level bath is Night of Navy. My computer room is Yo-Yo Yellow (so you notice the color instead of the junk).
I have taken the shades of SU! cardstock to Home depot they scan them and I have perfectly matching paint. I have done several rooms this way.
Living room - Creamy Caramel (with a brick red accent wall)
Kithen - Mellow Moss
Stamp studio - So Saffron
Boys bedroom - Night of Navy on top, Pumpkin pie on the bottom (with a sports border through the middle)
Upcoming rooms - Close to cocoa in our bedroom (haven't decided on the accent wall color yet (I'm thinkin' really rust)
Our living room in the basement will either be river rock or artichoke. (or maybe both ;))

So after reading this I tell my DH that I want to paint our bathroom Mellow Moss and I am going to find a wall to paint Chocolate Chip, he rolled his eyes and said yes that would be nice. hehe At least he puts up with me, and he really does love to brag that I'm creative.

A friend has what I call 'Home Depot' orange in her breakfast nook, at first I thought she was crazy. But it's very classy with navy and white as accent colors.
Always go for SU colors!!! Master bedroom is tempting tuquoise, stamp room is sage shadow, bedroom in lavender lace, bedroom in more mustard, bathroom is real red and family room is hunter green
Thanks for the ideas. I have a very colorful house and never thought of matching to a paper color. I am recently back into SU and think it is time to repaint!!! I have painted my bathroom 7 times in the 16 years we have lived here. I am thinking mellow moss.
I painted my hallway last year, but it's an awfully close match to Wild Wasabi. I love it. I really want to paint my living room Blue Bayou, but it was only painted last year, too. Hubby picked the color and I don't like it.
