I appreciate your opinion and being brave in voicing it amoung all of us demos. I too wish that I could change the shipping cost to my loyal customers, but since I am a hobby demo I turn the little bit of money I make from each order to buy supplies and stamps just to keep up with the ever changing Catalog and Idea Book-- but that is another subject that I will not even bring up here on SCS.

Good grief - all companies are in business to make a profit on the product/service they sell. They may offer free or reduced shipping but it is made up in the price. So if it makes you feel better to buy from someone that buries shipping/handling in the price and then gives free shipping - great. But don't kid yourself that they are in some way "eating" the cost or not making a profit on their product.
OKAY LISTEN UP!!!! This is the SECOND TIME I am coming in here to calm the seas. If you have stated your point and others disagree....NOW IS THE TIME TO AGREE TO DISAGREE... we will not tolerate picky bickering to continue with out a purpose. Pretty much all that can be has been said. Let's let this matter rest.
We do not want to tarnish this site by allowing hurtful comments to continue and have a negative sense crowd out all the fun we have here... PLEASE LET THE MATTER REST! AGREE TO DISAGREE AND MOVE ON!
Thank you... if you have further questions feel free to pm me.
Now go make someones day and comment on the awesome work in the gallery...
Wow - I originally responded to this thread after reading only the first few posts..... I had no idea that it had gotten so ugly in here..... :( I have to apologize that I originally responded with my oppinion, I know we all have different oppinions as the world is full of different personalities -- so if I offended ANYONE by my first post - I sincerely apologize. This is such a great site -- I hate that sometimes these "conversations" can turn so ugly. I LOVE the site - and I LOVE all the samples in the gallery - and I LOVE having conversations with so many wonderful ladies. By the way -- my favorite color is purple, but I hate orange. That does not mean that I have a problem with people that love orange. I guess what I am trying to say - although lengthy - is (again) sorry if anyone was offended by my oppinion early.
for an order like that  if you are that unhappy talk to your demo she/he might the shipping for you to keep you happy and get that nice order

I just checked into the cost of shipping on some of the orders I placed recently. I went to UPS.com and calculated shipping costs based on the weight and dimensions of the boxes I received. The cost was very close to what I actually paid for shipping.
SU has to pay for the boxes (and those of us who have ever paid for a move know how much they can cost), packing paper, employees who will pick the products, pack them, and ship the package.
It looked to me like SU probably lost a little money on my order.
Of course, that being said, I checked a more expensive order and it wasn't as close. But I'm sure it all balances out...
Do you mind me asking for those who commented that SU loses money on shipping who you heard that from?
Companies have negotiated rates w/ shipping companies and IMO from what I have experienced running my own business and from doing a lot of research when I incorporated my business, things equal out and never end in that much of a lose if a lose at all.
I had a customer place a HUGE order for wedding invitations and the box weighed 58lbs. The cost to ship it from the supplier was $43.00 via standard UPS ground. If I was to ship it at a local UPS facility it would cost of close to $63.00. Her order was a heck of a lot more than $750 and I charge actual shipping so it was far under 10% so yes, I think SU's shipping is quite high.
Ok ladies. EEKKK!! I've been away for the day and I came back to read all of these comments. I think we all need to take a breath, go unbunch our panties and go stamp the crap out of something. Then, kindly upload it to the gallery so we may all oooh and aaaah at it.
These types of commentaries always end up this way and it isn't pretty. I know we can express our opinions as we so desire, but there comes a time when we need to step away and move on.
THAT TIME HAS COME!
Thanks.
Ronda
Please PM me when you upload a new creation so that I may comment on it, since I am still without the capability to share my cards in the gallery.
Just remember that for every customer that is unhappy over this issue and is vocal, there are dozens who just silently quit buying or switch to another company. It seems that being protective of SU is the highest theme here and not the customer's concerns. If you keep shushing people here you will lose touch with your consumers.
I just have this to say and them I am going to stop reading this repetitive thread. I don't so much feel like I am being protective... I just live in the real world. Shipping is expensive and no one likes it but it pays lots of people's salaries and it is never going to go away. If it were outrageous... I would have a problem too. But SU's shipping is in line for the most part. So again, not being protective, just real.
I am very much concerned that my customers have to pay 10% shipping, especially sometimes when they really can't afford it. This is why, when I can afford it, I give them deals. I ALWAYS have the orders delivered to me and put them together and deliver them. I give away stuff when I can. So all of us demos here who seem to be protective and unconcerned for our customers... not exactly as it seems to you.
I, too, think there should be a cap on the shipping amount. I am in independent sales with another company and there is a cap of $14.50 on orders over $100. I'm sure this was probably negotiated with UPS. However, I do get rather heavy packages sometimes because a lot of our products are weighty.
If you want to gripe about shipping call UPS or the oil companies or whatever. Quit your b****in already. You made your point, now get over it and move on. Ladies, it's time to let this thread die, don't you think? Dot2dot is only succeeding in getting everyone ticked off and that's not what we come to SCS for. So lady, go find yourself another forum.
My last comment: One of you is a demo I have ordered extensively from . I have never identified myself to you via this site, but I have shared this site with several of the others I stamp with who give me their orders that I combine to order from you. You just shot yourself in the foot bigtime with all of us.
DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND ENGLISH ???? I HAVE SPENT ALL D***N NIGHT TRYING TO KILL THIS THREAD AND YOU ALL CONTINUE TO POST.........IT HAS BEEN ASKED TWICE TO END IT!!!!
WHAT OTHER LANGUAGE WOULD YOU LIKE ME TO USE?
SO END IT! NO MORE POSTS!!!
This IS a place to post positive things - Let's KEEP it that way!!
Don't get me wrong--I DO love SU, but I bristle at the suggestions that their prices are "very good" when you have to mount and assemble them yourselves! By the time I am done with that I could buy stamps cheaper in almost any store. Additionally, I can find any other brand at a discount on the internet. When you tack on that 10% and then assemble yourself I think you are kidding yourself that these are bargain stamps in any manner.
If you go to your local stamp or craft store you will find that the price of 1 or possibly 2 stamps is comparable in price to an entire 'SET' of stamps from Stampin' Up!!
My demo gives us the number to track our own. Last order took 9 days from SU to my house. Must be they pay the very lowest bulk rate possible. When I order from ATRS I have my orders in 48 hours. The warehouses are not that far apart.
ATRS ships priority USPS not UPS.
