I am sorta irritated with my mono not sticking as well, and was playing with Em's 2 way glue pen.... wowsers, the next day you CAN NOT get that stuff apart!!! How AWESOME!
So, does anyone use this for their cards to put layers together? How long does a tube last compared to mono?
I don't have any idea how long it will last, but I'm for anything that will hold, regardless of the cost. I am so tired of having to put cards back together.
I used my mom's 2 way glue while she was here and was mucho impressed!! I too am having issues with my mono (not as bad as before!) but that glue pen was great for small areas. I agree that $$ isn't always the factor if the cheap stuff only goes half as far or just downright s*cks!!!

I found that the 2 way glue doesn't work well for cards. when I tried using it the card arrived in pieces.
I use Scotch double stick tape and love it.
I agree with this. I made some cards for someone at work (they purchased them) and they fell apart! So embarassing! I only use it for glitter or small areas (like Alphabits).
I got mono from Viking and have had no problem with it. I had gotten some at Michaels a while back and had problems with that.
I got a tape dispenser at Walmart for less than four bucks...CDN. And the
refills are the same price and have 2 in the pack.
Its called Adhesive Tech. So far its worked great for me.
I hate mono. I hate the way it gets all gummed up and how it doesn't last very long, and how it never seems to stick very well. I never use it. I LOVE the two way glue pen!!! It's the only thing I use...and I've never had a card fall apart. Just make sure you stick CS together when the glue is blue to get the forever hold!
2 way glue rocks!

They are cheap and come 2 to a pack. They are extremely sticky and I think little less messy than the 2 way glue. I've even used it to attach buttons to card!!! Someone here suggested it. I tried it and it actually worked on some card samples I've made. They've stood the test of time!!! And let me tell ya...my samples get handled plenty.
Me too! The 3M (scotch) double stick tape is the best! I use it all the time for cards. I also have the 2 way glue pen, but I mostly use it for glitter and small things (like scrapbook embellishments). I haven't tried the mono, but I've tried other brands of the same thing and haven't been too impressed.

2 way glue pen
the tape dispensers from Walmart ( the ones that look like mono) if I remember correctly are about half the length as mono from S U, so actually aboutsame cost... but mine broke ( the tape part)
I have found when humidity is high...not much holds really good...two way is good in tiny areas... . but so far mono has worked for me... I really like the tabs for pictures they hold the best...
I have most of the above mentioned adhesives and use them at different times. But two of my favorite adhesives are Miracle Tape from Viva Las Vegastamps! and Glue dots for buttons and little embellishments. I buy the Miracle Tape (1/4 inch) from Viva Las Vegastamps! online in a bulk amount and get it a little cheaper that way.

Dude, yeah. MamaK and I bought into that stupid thread about how cool the glue sticks were....dang we were so NOT impressed. Mine did not stick AT ALL!! ANd I put it on thick. I love this 2 way...I put something together with it and the next morning I pulled it apart and the paper TORE it was stuck so good!!! That's awesome!! My mono'd stuff usually sticks, but the corners will pop up or whatever and you can totally take it apart if you wanted to. I have a 2 way pen and I may use it for a while and see how it goes.
**sigh** ok, I'll try it again, but I am totally gonna send it to you Consuelo!! Seriously, I'll give it another shot, but if it falls apart I am coming to you, girlie!!

Be sure to put a button on it.
To make the buttons stick,
you have to put it on thick.

Same for me. I like it also cuz you can find it just about anywhere. I hate not being able to trust the mono. It was such a relief to find this tape.

I've found that using the glue stick liberally, but not caking it on actually works better than using a ton. There should be an even layer, but not gobs on the cs. It's like having a thick layer makes the glue not stick to itself. Know what I mean? Using a thinner layer lets the glue bond the cs together. Does this make any sense? Anyway you might try using different amounts of the gluestick before you give up on it completely.

I've read something about an adhesive gun that is used for matting pictures in frames. Does anyone know what I'm talking about and how it compares to the adhesives that SU! offers?
Has anyone seen the monoesque adhesive from EK Success that puts out little pieces of tape and you can go around corners with it and everything? Saw it in a magazine and thought "now that's cool!" Summer's I only use my Xyron or 3M tape. Nothing else works in this humidity.
Ladies, I love all of your ideas and suggestions, but I'd like to know what kind of climate y'all are in. Neither mono nor glue sticks hold up for me (I have a basement studio for stamping/workshops) b/c I'm in an extremely arid climate. For those of you out there in dry climates, what is your preferred method? 2-way glue? I've resorted to sticky tape, but it's too time-consuming for the long run. (Glue dots are the way I go for accessories and I swear by them!)
Thanks!
Shannon

I am in a pretty humid area I hate the mono, i will not buy it, I use it at stamp camps b/c it is what my demo offers but my things never stay together. I get cards for swaps in and they have used mono and they are normally falling apart. I have used the 2 way glue and I like it but more for small areas, I love it for glitter though. I have used the glue sticks and I have found that it sticks but it does seem to pull apart in areas, it is like it seperates or something. I like the scotch double sided tape but it takes some time. My tried and true adhesive is the CM tape runners, they have regular and mini. I like it to use in place of mono. I like the CM photo tape to use with ribbon if it is going to be flat against a card and I love the glue dots for embellishments.

Hi Shannon! I live in Colorado Springs and I use 3M double stick tape. This is what works for me!
I have not had any luck with glue sticks either. I like the mono but it does sometimes want to pop apart, even when burnished well. I love glue dots for embellishments. And there's also glue lines if you can find them. I am thinking of all those coupons that I threw away and could have bought boxes of glue dots. Just one on each layer would assure that it wouldn't fall off.
ok I am in CA and I can use glue stick, mono, or 2-way pen. if you really want some sticky power get the sticky tape. Man you could glue a toddler to the wall with that stuff.
Now, with some of my workshops I use the sticks due to the fact that I have a reg. scrapper who will use a whole mono refil for a double 12 x 12 layout and a card. I kid you not. Drives me crazy, so I whipped out the glue sticks. They are less expensive and she used a lot less.

.............hmmmmm, wish I would have read this earlier tonite when my little one was acting like a 3 year old! But I'll be ready next time. ;)

Ok I have to Agree with this. I have recently started using these and they are great. None of my stuff comes apart.
If you wait too long to put it together after you put it on then it does have trouble sticking. Just don't take too long once you apply the glue stick.
I think they rock. They go on very easily also. It is quite humid here!
I've read something about an adhesive gun that is used for matting pictures in frames. Does anyone know what I'm talking about and how it compares to the adhesives that SU! offers?
It's called the ATG 700, or 750, there's a couple of different models. I use the tape without the dispenser (cuz that sucker's not CHEAP!). I tend to use different adhesives as I add layers, starting with mono on the first layer or two, depending on the sizes of the paper. Then I start moving to stronger glue since it has to hold more weight. The ATG adhesive is for when there's serious weight involved, lol.
Glue dots are great for strength too, although not if you want a perfectly flat layer...

I've done custom framing and the ATG gun that you're talking about is HUGE! not practical for scrapbooking/cardmaking. Also, the glue is really sticky but it's so messy and it's hard to control that big ole gun (esp for small areas)
I love mono AND 2-way. Glue dots are awesome too....my all time fav: Dotto Permanent!
I wish we sold perm refills for the dotto, not just repositionable. Does anyone else think repositionable is stupid? I mean, what's the point of glueing something down just to remove it? maybe it's one of those life questions.

The two comments in bold confuse me but it could be because I think of the layers differently. To me the first layer has to hold the most weight because it's the base of the whole thing. The last layer holds the least. I'm so confused.
In light of this discussion, I went to my card box and tested them. I have used double stick tape, glue sticks and mono and none of my cards are coming apart. Some I made over 3 years ago! The only thing I can think I might do differently is really pressing pieces together? I don't know otherwise.
BTW, winters are incredibly dry in the house and summers tend to be quite humid, so it doesn't seem to be a weather thing.
This week I tried out the rectangular glue sticks from Wal-Mart and really like them. I think they're by Adhesive Tech and are with the stamping stuff.
