I recently purchased a refill bottle of SU's Stampin Mist cleaner and the first time I used it, I felt like I was cleaning my stamps with perfume! For someone like me with allergies to frangrances, this was a big disappointment!
This is the first time I've experienced this. The other bottles of SU Mist cleaner that I've gotten have all smelled like rose water - a delicate and very tolerable frangrance.
Has anyone else noticed this or did I just get a "bad" bottle?
Is the change why the color is more yellow? The first bottle I got for a customer in Jan. was really yellow, I thought it might be due to the cold weather here in Iowa. I hated to give it to her due the color but she said it was fine. I ordered one for myself later and it was also that more yellow color. Just wondering I guess.
Here are my thoughts (whatever they're worth). When I started buying five years ago the Stampin' Mist had a very distinctive smell. It also was very "foamy." Then, about a year or two ago, the smell was less obvious, but the mist didn't work as well as it did before. It didn't foam and it took more elbow-grease to clean the stamps. After a lot of complaints to SU!, the Mist now has more foam and the smell has come back. I happen to love that odor, but I can understand how someone with allergies might have problems.
The new stuff (which is just the old stuff again) can be diluted with water and still work well.

So very blessed and so very thankful.
God is good.
Hmmm, I checked out my different bottles and sure enough my latest bottle is definitely yellow - I had not noticed that before.
Personally I thought the "old/new" (rose scented) worked GREAT! Unfortunately, watering down the perfume version doesn't help - wish it did! The ingredients that make you sneeze, tear, choke, get stuffed up, headachy, etc. are still in there!
It's kind of weird to me that they'd make the change without an announcement to the demos. I was at a class last month and the demo had no idea they'd changed the scent! So far the posts are all personal observations - it will be interesting to see if anyone actually heard from SU about the change.
Anyone have any unused refills with the rose scent they want to sell?
While I like how the Stampin Mist cleans stamps I CAN NOT stand rose scents (does anyone remember Rose Milk hand lotion - that was the absolute worst) so I ended up buying stamp cleaner from my LSS to use with my stampin scrub. Her's has a very fresh scent but not over powering - kind of like Windex and I can buy it in bulk. I bought a quart over a year ago (it was less $$ than 2 SU refill bottles) and I still have about 1/3 left.
I'm not a huge fan of rose water scent, but it sure beats the overpowering fragrances that are typically found in so many items from make-up to laundry soap! Now that my boys are teens we're having to find scents for deodorant and body wash that are "fragrant" enough for them, and I can still breathe in the same room!
Can you give me more info on the cleaner you use? What is an LSS?
I bought a bottle last year, which smelled lightly of roses. But as the bottle has aged, the smell has diminished. I am wondering if the solution weakens with age?
Has anyone heard of a homemade solution recipe? Just wondering.
Ok.. I thought I was going crazy. I've been saying for a while that the Stampin Scrub mist smelled like rose water. Everyone thought I was nuts. Turns out, they're nuts.
I haven't had to buy a new bottle yet, but after reading all of these posts, I'm not sure if I want to. I am also very sensitive to scents and anything can set off a migraine attack.
There was a thread around here somewhere that had a bunch of recipes for homemade solution. The one I wrote down was:
In 8 ounce container put:
1 eyedropper of Glycerin (available at pharmacy - just ask pharmacist, also available scented or unscented!)
A squirt of baby body wash
Fill remainder of container with water.
A squirt would be NO MORE than a teaspoon - if not less, depending on the baby body wash (some are a little more foamy than others). You can buy unscented baby body wash as well as lightly scented variations. I personally like Aveeno Lavender scent and would probably use that with the unscented Glycerin. I don't like rose scents either!
Anyway, hope that helps!

I'm with Fran---cannot stand rose scented stuff---makes me want to hurl! It is my understanding that they changed the scent because some people with allergies were having troubles with the rose scent. The newer bottles I have received don't have a lot of scent to them, they just smell a little bit like soap/cleaner and definitely not like rose. It sounds like there is a lot of variations in this product!
I hadn't opened my new bottle yet,but it does have a scent!! I hope it cleans as well as the first bottle I bought a couple of years ago. My last bottle didn't clean as well.
I LOVE the new scent!! It reminds me of my grandma!
Thank you for the homemade formula JocelynM! I'm definitely going to try that.
Sounds like a real even mix of who likes the scented version and who doesn't. Maybe SU needs a "scented" and "unscented" choice like so many other things! I wish!
Gosh, I'm glad to see that I am not the only one bothered by the scent (granted, my bottle is 18 months old...only used once). The rose scent is too much for me....gives me the allergy headache right between the eyes.
Of course, I never thought to complain about it to anyone who could do anything about the scent...
I'm so glad someone posted this. The new smell and color don't bother me, but I thought I was going nuts! I noticed it a while ago and just figured my old bottle had gotten old. I do notice, however, that it seems to clean my stamps without so much "elbow grease" as someone put it.
