Those of you lovin' the new unmounted SU! stamps, are you adding the labels to the EZ-Mount, or leaving them off? I had heard that with the labels it's a little harder to stick to the clear block - any thoughts? I am trying to organize and I have some new sets I need to put together!!
I've been putting the labels on mine. I read a tip on here in one of the threads (sorry don't know who posted the tip) to huff on the stamp before you put it to your acrylic block and it will stick better - and it works! I like having an index image on the back of my stamp for easier placement.
I also read somewhere on SCS that if you pushed in the middle of your stamp when you were putting it on the clear block, it would make it adhere better. It does work, but I still don't really like the way the labels are too big. I think I might just start using them without the labels.

I have been trimming my labels closely before I put them on. Helps the stamps to cling better to the blocks.
I have found this works best for me too. I love having the labels, I don't want to leave them off. Trimming them leaves part of the cling exposed so they are "clingy-er" and gives me the best of both worlds.
Ditto to what Kim and Trina both said. I am trimming the labels before I stick them on my clingmount foam. Then the label is on, but the cling mount foam is still expose a bit, so its the best of both worlds.
However, I am one of those sick people who loves to cut stuff out so this does not bother me in the least to do it!!
IMO - once you put the labels on you are sort of stuck with them. I personally like the performace without the labels better. I just stuff the labels in the cover sleeve, so that if I ever decide to use them in the future, I can pull them out and apply. I would recommend that you try a few with the labels and compare to those without and then make a decision.
I have the labels on and have had no probs. My only adjustment has been to put the stamp label up on my craft table and press the block onto it. None have fallen off, even when I carried them to my card club and all the (inexperienced) people used them.
I also have the labels on mine and I have no problems at all getting them to stay on the blocks for stamping. I am not adding any additional adhesive. I already have a shelf full of the new clear mount sets...Love love love them.
blessings.
I don't use the labels. I was already used to using unmounted stamps and don't miss having the image.

Thanks so much ladies!! I never even thought about trimming the lables so that a little more cling is exposed!!! what a great idea I am definitely going to try that! Although, I will say that yesterday I used one of my new stamps with a label on them and it worked perfectly!!
Of course, It probably had more to do with the fact that I'm a bit "heavy handed" so I probably stuck that poor stamp on for dear life  but it worked and I love the way they look with the labels on!!
I wonder if they might be making labels available for older stamp sets??... (am I being greedy or what?? lol..)

then I am greedy too cuz I would love this but alas, I dont think its in the cards. That would be ALOT of work at SU! LOL
What I did with my older stamps was to gently pull the sticker off the wood block. All had enough sticky to apply to the stamp and stay stuck, then I just trimmed them to fit. Lots of work but I did it while watching the grandgirls watch cartoons. I'm a little ocd and like everything to match.

I did this as well with the sets that I unmounted. Then I just put TIO&O on top of the label. Perfect solution.

You know, I tried doing that to one of my old sets, but then I find that the label doesn't feel as though it sticks (to the clear block) ... is it a different type of plastic than the labels on the new unmounted stamps or am I imagining things??

If its the index image from and older set (not the new cling ones) then it will not stick on its own - its plastic and not vinyl. You will need to put a repositionable adhesive over top of the label.
I leave the labels off as well...the difference in the "stick" to the acrylic block with the label on is significant enough to be annoying, I think, and I am also very used to using UM stamps without labels, so I am adhering the label to the case itself to identify the set. I don't know if using the actual SU acrylic blocks work better with the labels stuck on the EZ mount stamp because I already have every size block imaginable and won't be using SU's blocks. But it's nice to have a choice, isn't it?
When SU first went unmounted, I was hoping the image would be already printed on the EZ mount itself (like the old See-D stamps). I am NO GOOD at perfectly lining up the label to the image on the opposite side that would give me the advantage of "seeing" exactly what and where I am stamping! Didn't work to try on the wooden blocks either! So the saving of space is the best reason for the UM stamps, IMO.

Ditto everyone who does NOT put the labels on. There is a difference and when you are used to EZMount-ed stamps that stick so well, having to fiddle around trying to get a stamp to stick is discouraging.
I never stuck the labels on when they first came out it seemed in the thread posts that more people had better luck with no labels stuck to the foam so i have never put them on mine...just tucked the sheets behind the paper sheets in the front flaps of the cases..
I had never mounted my Thoughts and Prayers because I hated the double-sided mount. I made a copy of the set from the catalog, cut it very closely to the image and stuck it on the back of the sticky red rubber. I now have it stored in one of the DVD cases SU sells and LOVE how it clings to the clear stamp blocks. I also cut my clear-mounts very closely to the image before putting them on the back of the clear mount stamps.
Why would you put the rubber on E-Z mount then put the label over the top???
Why not take the stamp off the block and use the foam already on the rubber, then put the label on that and trim. I wish I would have done that instead of unmounting and putting mine all on E-Z mount.
Personally I don't think the labels stick to the blocks that well. I just put the labels on the cd case to identify the stamps in that case. Learned that after about 60 sets.
If I started now I'd unmount, and then put the label from the block on the back of the foam. I'd then photo copy the set and put that on the outside of cd box. I'd use a bit of adhesive on my block to stick to it or some tack it over and over on the labeled side.
Either way with all my mistakes and learning curve, glad I went to remounted!
I always have to trim my red rubber closer to the image than it comes. Otherwise I get those unwanted lines. Will I get in trouble if I do this with the clear mount stamps?
I really need some info on putting my clear mount stamps together. My demo doesn't buy them.
Do you trim the labels before or after you peel the protective papers off?
I have heard that people use the negative rubber in the case to store the stamps when not in use. Do you take the back paper off and adhere it to the case?
I put the labels on, and haven't had any trouble with them not sticking. Make sure your blocks and the label are good and clean.. any skin oils, dust, etc. will cause them not to stick right. And like another poster mentioned, just huff a bit and it will stick great.
I have also unmounted ALL of my wood mount stamps. At first I went the EZMount route. It worked great.. but I am so glad I found out about peeling the sticker off the wood and just adhering that to the foam and use TIO&O. Wonderful!!
I love being able to see the image when I stamp, rather than stamping blind. Not sure why, just a personal preference, I guess. And it sure makes putting a misplaced stamp back to its set easier!
No trouble at all, just trim away! The stamps are still on red rubber, it's just the mounting that is different...no sticky backing, but a backing that "sticks"!
EZ mount (AKA foam mounting) is not sticky-backed, but smooth and shiny (like the labels on your back of your woodmount stamps). SU's "unmounted" stamps already have the EZ mount on them, so it's very easy....You just peel the paper off and you are ready to use the stamp on an acrylic block, to which it "sticks" like a vinyl cling does to a window. It "sticks" to the case the same way. [be aware though, that some "unmounted" stamps out there come with nothing but the rubber, like Stamping bellas and Eureka stamps.]
If you decide to apply the provided labels on the backs of the ez mount material on the back of your stamp, the ez mount will then have another layer on it and from what people said here (including myself) it doesn't "cling" as well to the clear blocks. Others feel it doesn't make a difference and apply a closely trimmed label to the back, leaving some of the ezm exposed. That way you can see the image through the case when it is stored. You can see the image on the label sheets just tucked in as well though, so it's purely your preference.
I wouldn't keep the negative rubber myself, but it's a preference again...you will also see that peeling the paper before trimming always works best for the rubber, but I wouldn't do it for the labels which really are glue backed and truly sticky.
As for the rubber lines on the edges, since I ink the rubber stamp upside down with the flipped inkpad stamping onto the rubber rather than leaving the ink pad on the table and pushing my stamp into it, I rarely have lines, so you may want to try that....it's MUCH easier to see where the ink is and is not. When ink might get on the edge, I use a baby wipe to clean it off and then stamp. Voila!
You will enjoy the ease of the "clear mounted" stamps. I don't like that SU calls them that, as it implies to me that the rubber stamps themselves are clear or different that their wood mounted variety of rubber, which they are not. It is only the backing that is different. It's the acrylic blocks that are the clear part and so CM refers to the mounting. It's consistent, but confusing, I think, to many people.
Happy stamping!

I have the 'Tiny Tags' and the 'Happy Moments' sets. The TT and the sentiments in the HM set are really small so I had problems getting the labels on the foam. I do like having the lablels on them though so they are there is a little off center. I have to really push the tiny stamps on the acrylic block since they are so small - not much surface to be in contact with the block.
I do like the new DVD-style cases for the unmounted stamps. I do like someone else suggested here - saved the excess rubber from the stamps, push the tiny stamps back in their original space and place this in the case so I don't lose these tiny stamps. If you put them back right after you use them and notice an open spot, you can look for it before it gets scooped up with the scraps/debris from your crafting project.
