Did you know you can get the materials list for all the mini catalog projects?
Just go to www.stampinup.com, click on the mini catalog line. Toward the bottom of that page, there will be a link that says, "click here for supplies".
Well, the supply list includes a watercolor brush, but it doesn't look like anything was watercolored. So my guess is that they got some ink on the brush and gently tapped it to make the splatter effect. (I haven't tried that with ink, but I remember doing it with paint in a middle school art class. )
Thanks, I never thought of taping the edges and then watercoloring the inside.
Oh, were you referring to the light yellow background behind the flower? I think that was masked and then sponged with More Mustard. It looks more like sponging than watercolor to me (and sponge daubers are also listed in the supplies). I thought your question was referring to the yellow "speckles" on the cardstock. Sorry for the confusion.
i am soooooooo glad someone asked this question, about the yellow background of this card in the summer mini. i had the exact same question, but had not gotten around to posting it on coastal yet. makes perfect sense to me. thanks so much!!!
