My uncle recently passed away and I volunteered to make a few special thank you cards for my aunt. Now I'm stuck and I can't find any samples that really seem appropriate - a little to cheery. Any suggestions or samples you'd be willing to share would be greatly appreciated.
I want to say that I did see something just like this in the gallery in the last month or so... I remember thinking i wish I had been stamping 11 years ago when my Dad passed, the ones from the Funeral home were just too Funeral Homish...
I believe she used one flower, no layers and then a simple "thank You" in the corner.
Simple but elegant.
Hope this helps.
I made a bunch of these for DMIL when my FIL died last year (150 cards is a bunch, right?). He was a farmer so I stamped a tractor in an earth tone color, put it on small panel of same color of earthtone, added a couple of tarnished copper brads and mounted it on an off white card that had been background stamped with canvas in a soft wheat color (canvas showed on the cs but it was subtle.
For the senitment, I used a stamp from Anna Griffin that says "with Gratitude"...it is done with 2 different fonts and elegant but simple and is just the right size. I really liked the term "with gratitude" better "thank you" for some reason -- it just seemed more appropriate. Hope this gives you an idea.
I made this as a sympathy card for my dh's boss and then my demo. You could change it to say thank you and change the background to linen to simplify the card.
I would agree with the keep it simple ideas posted here.
I think maybe a subtle tone on tone bg, a layer with a single flower, and a sentiment gold embossed. I love the idea of "With Gratitude" that someone suggested. A "With Thanks" would be nice also. If not, "Thank You" certainly would work. Actually, the "Heartfelt Thanks" would be nice, but maybe not embossed.
I'll stop now.
I like the set All I Have Seen and think this would make nice thank you cards. I also like what someone said about about the phrase "with gratitude" what a nice way to put it.

As a newbie here I am so impressed with the quick and number of responses. This is wonderful. I appreciate all the input - hopefully it will get me going.
Since I am fairly new to stampin', I don't have many sets. I am at work, so the ones I can remember are: In Full Bloom, Looks Like Spring, Shades & Shadows(?), Simple Sketches, Simply Said, Good Things Grow and Wonderful Words. Can't remember the others, but not many more.
I think you could easily use the 'thank you' from Wonderful Words ... it's nice and flowing.
The other choice would be the sentiment from Simply Said about thanks.
Personally, I'd go with Wonderful Words.

This is normal! Ask anything at any time of day or night and you're pretty well guaranteed an answer! On the other hand, I asked a simple question on a UK board and never got a single reply! :( Stick with us - it's the way forward!
Here is one that has inspired me when I need to make sympathy cards. I'm sure you could adapt it with more color for a sympathy/thank you card. Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
This may be too late, but I have had this card by kaufeestamper in my favorites for a while. I think the same design could be used with a number of stamps, and of course with a different sentiment. I like the serene colors and the simplicity of the card.
