I have a good base of about 12-14 stampin pads. Is this a good way to round out the colour families? Or do you mostly use them in addition to the stampin pads? Do you use them just like regular stamp pads? Do the individual colours come out of the petal point design (looks like it would be awkward to get a stamp on that shape)?
Teach me, I will listen! And then I will buy whatever you tell me to buy, .
The Petal Point chlak inks are awesome. I just got both sets and have used them alot already. Each petal point comes out so it is no problem to use them on your stamps. The colors are also very nice.
I love my chalk inks - I didn't buy them from SU - I bought a pastel palette and I am waiting for my primary palette from Joanns.com (cheaper with a 50% off code even with shipping...)
the colors that SU sells are not specific SU colors they are just chalk ink that closely matchs some of the SU colors...
the chalk inks give a more muted color which I love here is a link to card I did using chalk inks it shows the color and "feeling" pretty well
I bought the chalk inks specifically for making tumbled tile coasters since they don't have to be sealed. I use them for a lot more, though, and my customers have loved them. In the three times I've demoed them, half of the ladies bought them. How's that for getting a return on your investment? I like to use it with fun with shapes to get the three different triangles, circles, or squares three different colors easily. The circles make a fun multi-colored polka dot background.
I am so excited -- I didn't know they worked for tiles and didn't need to be sealed. That's awesome. Thanks. I love my chalk pads, but had to return one of them recently because the ink pad fell off the holder. But, other than that I think SU! needs to add a 3rd type of ink and do all there colors in this hybrid. I would buy them all in a second.
If you want to (fairly cheaply) fill in the SU 48 colors you don't have, then consider getting the spots. The Chalk pads are great, but they're only 16 colors. With the spots you get access to all 48. You will get "mini" duplicates of the colors you have, but they're great for so many things.
That said, the chalk pads are beautiful and lots of fun, but they're not exact matches to the 48.
I read on here yesterday that someone had done cute baby onesies using the chalk pads and heat setting them and that they wash up beautifully. I'm excited to try that one! I just got my chalks!
They are a great way to carry a large number of colors to a crop.
You can easily color in a small portion of a stamp. For example if you only wanted to ink the word 'perfect' on the 'a perfect day' stamp.
8 colors for $16.95 is pretty good!
Very pretty colors!
