At Wal-Mart today I saw a little bitty sewing machine for just $12.99. I stood there for the longest time wondering if I should get it. If it actually works - doesn't fall apart on the second time you run it - it would be so handy, convenient, practical, neat to have in my stamping space. But #1... I already have too gadgets. And #2... would I really use it or just own it?
Sigh........... I am still tempted to go back and get one.
Ummm....if this is the same as the $10 machine they sell at Michaels and Moore's, don't waste your money. I feel like I wasted mine and I purchased it at 40% or 50% off!

I've heard they are junk too...I got an ancient old Singer from a colleague at work for $40...it's pretty much a tank, and only does straight stitch, but it never jams and works awesome for sewing paper. I had a cheap Kenmore and it was forever jamming up and couldn't handle anything heavier than cotton! I vote for looking around for an old clunker like mine!!

I have an old Montgomery Wards machine (I know, I'm dating myself) and I LOVE that thing - weights about 60lbs. However... in a PCS move, the movers didn't wrap the machine and I lost the little foot that moves up and down to keep the fabric taught. So... it's pretty much useless to me right now and since MW went out of business, I highly doubt I will find a replacement. Still... I cannot bring myself to part with it in the hopes that I will find a foot one day.
Okay, the link didn't work. If you go to The Home Depot website and type "Janome" in the search box, it brings up two models. I've heard that the Sew Mini Compact Sewing Machine w/2 Stitches is great. It's $54.99.

I vote DON'T BUY. I bought mine a few years ago, almost purchased all of the thread colors (thank goodness I didn't do that!) I held onto it for awhile thinking I might get the hang of it.

Why don't you go to a local sewing machine store that does in-store repairs and talk to their repair person? Often times they have boxes of parts and pieces for many different brands and ages of machines - they might have just what you are looking for. Also keep in mind that you don't need to have a mont. ward foot as a replacement - most sewing machine feet are based on whether they are short or long shaft - so a generic replacement foot of the correct style would no doubt work on your machine. I suspect your problem cand be easily and inexpensively remedied! Good luck with this!
Don't buy it! I'm throwing mine right in the trash the next time I see it. It's hiding because of all the nasty things I've said to it!! I can't believe they even still make it. I've never heard a single positive thing about it. I've been sewing my whole life and I can't make it do a thing!

WOW, I bought my little machine at M's about 2 years ago and it works great!!! I'm not sure why it's getting bad ratings. Maybe I bought one that actually works!!!! I love mine, but maybe it is junk and I got lucky!!!!
