ugh
Have fun with that silly set! I mounted mine and then punished it by not using it for a month because I was so resentful! LOL You may need to set aside longer than an hour for that though! Have fun and I don't envy you... mine IS mounted!
I actually like to mount my new sets!! It's so exciting to first open the brown box & see all the goodies. Lately I been doing my cutting in bed after the kids are asleep. My little guilty pleasure!!! I feel so decadent with all my new treasures around me!!
I'm rethinking this--I've got the labels and the upper case rubber on, but I am not sure I can do both sets before I drop off to sleep. I just saw some guy go for a ride in a tornado. TV is sure exciting tonight!
I've NEVER mounted a set of my stamps, EVER! I'm so spoiled. My Stampin Up demo does it for us. We get them already mounted, ready to use. Even my double alphabet set came this way!
I have that set, and have only mounted 3 of the words, and cut half of the rubber. That set is a pain!!!
I have about 5 or 6 sets sitting in a rubbermaid tote next to my desk that I have to mount. Don't know when I'll ever get around to it. Maybe after I do my christmas cards, my snowman soup, my christmas ornaments, thanksgiving cards, AND some thanksgiving gift tags I am doing for a friend who is broke with a family and no thanksgiving dinner.
You can do it!! I've mounted two sets of EFP - I did one for a very good and very busy customer, and one for myself when I got my Stampin' Start. I haven't finished mounting my Brushstroke alphas yet, though!
Cindy, you are too funny. Mounting your stamps in bed!!! I think that would be where my husband would draw the line. I can just see him getting up in the morning with a piece of stampin rubber glued to the side of his head. He and I share the basement. He gets half for his office and I get half for my craft room. I realized I was in trouble today when I found myself stamping at his desk because there is no more room on my side!! LOL Yup, in over my head. Ann

OMG LMBO!!
i want that set!! is it that bad??? or just a PITA to cut the rubber from all the words????
I just asked my DD yesterday about mounting EFP. She was the smarter one & ordered it quickly after the new catty arrived. She shared her opinions on how to combine the words, but before we changed the subject, she did caution ...."It isn't fun, Mom." I have sealed the blocks, but haven't trimmed the rubber yet. Faux painting the bathroom walls & trimming/mounting that set are the next priority things on my "list". Best of luck to all of us!
OK, 2 hours and 45 minutes to mount a double alphabet! It's 10 o'clock and I'll start trimming EFP but I sure won't get it mounted tonight. Bummer! But thanks for keeping me motivated, everyone!
Debbie, you can spray the blocks with clear polyurathane or paint them with clear nailpolish.
Debbie,
I use Krylon Matte Finish (1311). It's a spray, sold in the spray paint section. The best price here is at WalMart ($2.97), but it's available at Michael's too, & probably home improvement stores. It definitely seems to help with wood staining .... and will likely help should you ever accidentally stain the wood yourself. ;)
I hate to say this girls but I guess I am the lucky one here. When I get a new set of stamps I am so excited about it that I have to show my husband. ( He encourages me about stamping. Have been in the hospital 2 times to keep from losing my leg and stamping keeps me off my feet. ) Well anyway he sets down at the kitchen table with me and we work together on them. He either cuts the rubber and I the stickers and place the stamps on the blocks or the other way around.
Eat your hearts out. LOL

Linda,
I was so happy to get my EFP mounted. It was the most time consuming set I ever mounted, though. I think I labored more over how to 'associate' the words than anything else before finally taking the AR way out - alphabetical. (I was horrified to see that two of the short words are out of order, but I haven't fixed it yet.) I love those little words.
Enjoy!
Hey you all want to talk about a pain :-) I even took the grey spongy stuff off in between the rubber and adhesive only because the stamps are sooo small I wanted to get a good application from rubber to wood and it makes it even easier to clean stamps ( NO COMING OFF) ... I used Crystal effects to put rubber to wood ....so when I did my set if I remember right took a few days if not a week cause I could not bear to sit and do it all in one sitting having to take gray spongy stuff off was a job in itself BUT now thats its done I am lovin it :-) also you may want to take the time to line up the stamps that seem to go together like Mother / Daughter or Father /Son seems alot easier to locate stamp if some what together if you know what I mean :-)
Just keep remembering how great ita gonna be when your finished mounting them ....
xoxo

Oh man. I had been trying to 'associate' the words. Eventually, I have faith that it can make sense.
But then Sue chips in with the alpha way ..... hmmmmmmm.
Maybe that would make it easier in some ways ....
must go ponder....
Just one?! No, not me! I have - oh, if you have a heart condition or a tendency to fall out of your chair when surprised or shocked, please do not read any further!!!
Okay, I have:
~ just over 40 sets still NIB  (some were purchased as an investment - meaning I'm holding on to them for a few years and then
will see about selling them)
~ approx 9 sets in limbo - meaning they could have some/all of the rubber cut and some/all of them unmounted.
If any of you find this unbelievable, unimaginable or unforgivable, feel free to come over and help me!

Pam, if I could fly down today with my buttah - cuttin' rubber scissors, I'd be there.......I can't handle rubber unmounted for more than a few days!
But you're smart to try to hold on to some older ones um ~ they certainly sell for more on you-know-whereBay!
