OK one of my DD little friends from school is having a tonsilectomy next week :( and I want to make him a paint can with some goodies in it. I know I'm going to put some bubbles in it, but what else would you put in? I've never had my tonsils out, so have no idea what he can eat or do.... Oh and it's a 4 yr old boy, so any ideas would be great as my DS is only 10 mths!
And any links to boyish paint cans would be appreciated to ;)
Movies, puzzles, cards, quiet games as they will tell him no jumping around or anything for about a week. My son was 3 when he had his tonsils out and it was hard to keep him quiet after 2 days.
Stamp some Color Me cards for him! With dark ink on light-colored cardstock, stamp some cute boyish outline stamps (frogs, etc.) and include a small pack of crayons. Stamp on the envelopes, too! Then he can color the images in and if he gets gifts during his recovery, his parents can send a thank you that he's colored himself!
I had my tonsils out as an adult, and it was banana popsicles and root beer popsicles - and lots of 'em!
I know this sounds silly but a BELL is a good idea... my one dd had hers out and she just wanted to lay in bed watching tv and coloring, and if she needed me, her throat hurt to bad to yell.. so i dug up her princess wand that would make a noice and she'd beckon me with that... since a princess wand wouldn't work for a boy, how about a cute little cow bell or something, maybe hang a little tag off of it with a note explaining what he can use it for!! His parents may not be too fond of you if he gets carried away with it but it is a great way for them to get your attention without yelling!!!
Also the obvious, markers, crayons, maybe a little handheld game, or somethign

My son had them out last summer at 3 1/2. He watched a bunch of DVD's so that would be a great idea. I don't know how much you want to spend though. He also loves to write notes in spiral notebooks. I just bought a cheap spiral and decorated it with die cuts. Coloring books, action figures, new books, , juice boxes (not too acidic though), a new stuffed animal, new slippers.
John couldn't hold my down for a few days. He lived in pj's and slippers the first few days. He laid in bed and watched TV and slept. He was pretty down and out for about a week.

LOL I thought about that too! I thought it would be silly, but now that someone else has mentioned it.... LOL These are great ideas! Thank you ALL so much! Any more ideas?
love the bell... or you can sometimes find little "clickers" shaped like bugs that would work... How about a note pad and a pen he can use to write down his needs... and did any one mention comic books?
