Hey everyone! I'm a new demo...starter kit should be comming soon and I'm trying to figure out what paper I NEED to have in my supply.
I have the following, but only a package of each:
Taken with Teal
Chocolate Chip
Rose Red
Ruby Red
Pink Passion
Pretty in Pink
Old Olive
some Barely Banana
some Night of Navy
I was thinking about:
Real Red (I think this one is a must!)
Basic Black
Mellow Moss?
Lovely Lilac?
But what others? What do you demos use quite frequently for yourself, for workshops??? There are quite a few colors that I don't use from each of the color families. Do you have at least a package of all the 48 colors?
I'm working on getting my order ready for SAB (for myself!) and I want to get some paper so I can get going on planning some workshops.
Thanks!!!

my best suggestion it to buy one multi pack of each of the families...when you run out of one color orfer it....or if you are down to one sheet....it is easier to know what you are really using that way and some of the colors you dont think you will use you might be suprised how much you will end up using them if that makes sense...hope that helps!
I would also get a package of ultra smooth white and confetti white and maybe some vanilla or Ivory. Those are nice neutral colors that go with everything. I use a lot of ultra smooth white.

I use Glossy White for all sorts of different techniques...emboss resist is a favorite! It's like magic and everybody goes WOW when they make something.

I started with the multipacks and looked at what I used the most. Problem was, I was so excited about stamping I ran out very quickly as you only get 3 sheets of each color. I refilled with Pinks, Blues, and Browns right away and then got friends to go in on packs with me to gradually fill in the rest.
I have 1 package of each color on hand because I never know when I will use a certain color and it was just easier for me to have it all on hand, that way I am not limited in my projects or color selections.

I would get a package of basic black, it goes well with all those reds you have! It makes great Valentine's Day cards, too. I also suggest a brighter yellow, yo yo yellow or summer sun? Get a blue you really love, too, my favorite is ballet blue. Since you already have old olive, I suggest getting mellow moss and either lavender lace or bliss blue since you already have barely banana and pretty in pink. I definitely think you should get lovely lilac (I use a lot of this color!), or at least lavender lace, they are such springy colors! You can use them both for Valentine's Day, too. Good luck deciding what to get! I second the motion to get at least one pack of US white, one of US vanilla, one of confetti white and/or confetti cream. Consider getting 1 pack of either kraft or confetti tan! You can substitute these last two colors for creamy caramel, too!
For me, the multi packs are nice so that you know what all the colors are, but you only get 3 of each color which is not sufficient for THO workshops, which is what I do.
I have been a demo for 2 years now and I am still working on having every color. I did originally get one of each multi pack to give me an idea of the colors. Since then, I have 6 colors that I have yet to buy a single pack of cardstock for.(blush blossom, mint melody, summer sun, yoyo yellow, marvelous magenta, and taken with teal, in case you were wondering)
I typically demo for seasons/holidays/special events that will happen in the next month thus I pick colors that will coordinate with that.
For this month, I got blues(winter time) and pinks/red for Valentines.
Since you have some cardstock already, you may want to work on getting colors that coordinate with them.
Look at all you ladies!!! AWESOME suggestions! I'm making notes and writing everything down so I can make some decisions.
I think there will probably be some colors that I would not use, so I want to focus on getting some good coordinating colors, upcoming seasonal colors, etc. This is so much fun!!!

The assortment packs are awesome to start with! Also, make sure you have packages of Ultrasmooth White, Ultrasmooth Vanilla, and either the Naturals (White and Vanilla) or the Confettis (White or Cream). The Naturals and Confettis are sturdier and a little thicker and hold up better if you're going to use blender pens or Aquapainters with them.
I've been slowly adding full packages of all the colors. I bought according to season - Rust, Mustard, Olive in the fall, Burgandy, Navy, Red, Green for Christmas and now I'm working on the brighter colors for spring.
I agree w/ Koren, multipacks and replace what you are using. But I would also get the glossy white... so much you can do with that stuff, different techniques that can awe your customers, and you can never have too much US white and vanilla, I also use the confetti white, and natural ivory... HTH.
GLOSSY!!! is a must have. Crayon Resist, Polished Stone, and tons of other techniques are used with glossy.
I did a workshop with the Crayon Resist and everyone went NUTS for it! And it is sooo simple!!!!!
When I started out, the demo I ordered from (now my upline) suggested this:
1 multi pack for each color family
1 pack US White
1 pack US Vanilla
Then she offers a "starter pack" of specialty papers. It includes 10 each of the naturals and confetti papers and 5 ech of glossy, vellum, and metallics.
This was a great start for me so that I could have a little of everything and see what I used the most. I now offer a Paper Club to my customers who would like to do the same thing. They get a sample pack of papers. I also have a "Designer Series Club" where they get samplings of all the designer series papers and vellums to see what they like the most. What my customers like the most is if they don't have four friends to join up with, I find them four friends to be in the club with.
Cathy,
That is a great idea on the Designer paper club! I would love to join some others in getting more of the designer papers. I only have three assortments and would love to have more. I am going to pass this idea on to my demo!
Another good idea is to trade cardstock with someone else, either a demo or customer. Everyone has different colors that they use and my demo and I are always trading them! For instance, she was shorted a pack of Night of Navy that another customer needed to finish making her Christmas cards with. Together, she and I came up with the pack out of both of our cardstock, and she gave me several perfect plum, pale plum, and barely banana that I really needed in exchange for the navy cardstock, this worked out great for both of us! I got three new colors I wanted without having to buy the three whole packs and my demo satisfied her customer. Both of us had enough Navy leftover until we could order more.
My demo and I tend to like the same colors, but one of my stamping club friends like the two opposite color groupings from me. She and I often exchange a few sheets of our colors with each other!
I second the motion on the glossy white CS, gotta have that! I also love the idea of the upline providing a starter packet of a few of the speciality papers, too, very good demo support!
I'm not a demo but agree with others on buying the ***'t pgs then buying the colors as they run out. I've been doing that and it's working really good!
I'm not sure what your ink pad supply is, but when I was starting out, I would buy the coordinating cardstock when I bought a new ink pad. I knew this way I would use the new color lots. If you have all the markers or pads, then assorted is best and replace as you go.
The colors I've bought the most refill packages for are Mellow Moss, real red, navy, burgundy... I just love these colors... they go with everything!
Have fun picking!

I used to be a demo, and I SO wish I had sat down and evaluated each "season" to see what I wanted to do, so what I would use, etc. Like for the next few seasons, thinking about a few projects -- if you are doing workshops for valentines and for winter shots I would definitely next get some Rose Romance (since you have rose red) and yes, definitely some Real red, and maybe some Pretty in Pink. Snow ish type stuff get some Night of Navy and some Brocade blue -- those you will use a lot of anyway!
I find I like Creamy Caramel as a basic neutral type to have on stock as well, and for those scrapbookers instead of white as well (it is kind of like the CM Natural pages to get that market, LOL).
Agree also with the confetti, I like it better than the US white for a card, more thick/stable.
