this isn't for the fruit cans but...
i used to put little love notes in the pockets of the pants that he was taking. when he got dressed each day there was a little something for him. he loved it!
I did both fruit cans and bigger cans. I just put Hershey's Kisses in the smaller can, but you could put anything that folds (even a picture of a gift you bought for him). The bigger cans (mixed fruit) were perfect for gift cards.

What a sweet idea! You could put a love letter inside one of the cans. Or something like putting red hots with a "hot" letter inside (here's what we can do when you're back home. . .)
Is he into jewelry? Maybe a bracelet inside a can? Or tickets to a movie/play/event?
Question about the fruit cans......I guess I need to do a search..but does anyone have them in their galleries?? Do you reattach the lid?? I sort of remember seeing these but would like to see them again...what a great idea. I lvoe this. I run a daycare and could do this with my kids as little gifts for their parents.....Hummmm...ya got me thinking now!
